To an extent. Older teenagers are a different beast entirely though. Instead of forcing that on a 16-18 year old, you can teach them to wear it properly. Forbidding it at 16-!8 is being a control freak.
Thats awesome! Wasn't a rule for me but decided to wear it after highschool when I noticed how insecure others were and their skin breaking out from it. Rather teach my kids how to take care of their skin and be skilled on that rather makeup. They can mess with that later.
@@XxXShevampXxXnot really. 16-18 is when they shouldn’t wear makeup the most! You’re extremely self-conscious at that age so if you start wearing makeup to cover up your flaws you’ll be using it as a clutch for years after. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup until I became an adult and I’m forever grateful for it
Her daughter is so beautiful and the mom’s justification in not letting her wear make is very good. It’s important to recognize you beautiful and have full confidence before introducing makeup into the mix.
Wow. As a 25yr old woman, i wouldve turned out a whole lot different if i wasnt a “surrogate parent” to my siblings. I missed out on my childhood. Not only that all of my siblings are adults just like me and still look to me as “mom”. This mom saying let me be the mom and you be the sister is all i ever wanted when i was 12-15yrs old.
Watching this made me realize how few mother-daughter relationships we see in the media, especially good ones. I wonder why that is. Thank you for giving a healthy example of what these relationships should look like. This was such a nice video to watch :)
Ashley, the mother, is such an emotionally intelligent adult/parent. And clearly that is being passed down to her kids. Her daughter Amirah is brilliant, knows how to present her argument and back it up wit evidence. It was a treat to watch this video; their relationship is something unimaginable for me. Best of wishes to them on life 🩵
Omggggg I’m the oldest of 5 and had to be the second mother to all my siblings. When I tell you none of us have a good relationship, it’s super sad. Baby listen to your mom
I am the oldest also. I was told by my biological mother “you have to be the mom when I am not there”. It took me many many years to get out of “sibling-parental role.” As adults we are not close at all.
I’ve teared up this entire 17 minutes … she is so stunning but the internal beauty really shines through and that’s both of them ☺️ Ashley, you are incredible and you really see it in your babies !
I was never allowed to wear makeup as a teen and really wanted to but I am glad my parents didn't allow me as I love my face. I wear light makeup now and literally only for special occasions. I had friends who couldn't leave the house at all without a full face and feel like now they look much older because of it.
Wow the mum's explanation 7:40 onwards is brilliant. What an intelligent and wise decision to make for your eldest daughter. Really beautiful mum and daughter here, mutual respect, love and kindness woven throughout their relationship... The bond most of us could only dream of ❤️ also, thought they were sisters...maaaan them genes! 😆

The makeup perspective was so good! I know a lot of people who started wearing makeup early on and did not feel beautiful without it. Thinking of it in a way that it builds your self esteem is smart.

I started wearing make up (mascara,/eye liner) when I was like 14/15, got my eyebrows threaded when I was 14. I loved the little bit of make up I did wear and I believe I was comfortable in my own skin. I wouldn't object to my daughter wearing a little bit of make up when she's young, defo not a full beat or foundation or anything like that. I don't think there's anything wrong with teenagers wearing make up, just as long as its not excessive. But I also don't think there's anything wrong with Ashleys approach to this. Loved this chat.
Omgee I totally forgot about this family! I used to follow this couple I think before she even got pregnant! I can’t believe her daughter has grown so much! Ashley was always a very intuitive and thoughtful person and when she got pregnant I wondered how that would show up in her child via her parenting. Of course her child is now a very thoughtful amd understanding human as well. I love this

Wow! When this video first started I thought this was 2 best friends talking. Then I listened more only to find out they're mom and daughter. Mom looks like a teenager herself. You look great, mama!
I agree with the mom to a certain degree when it comes to her daughter wearing makeup at 15. I only disagree with wearing it for the male gaze. A lot of girls wear makeup for self expression and wearing makeup doesn’t always mean you find fault within yourself either. This is a great conversation..
Idk if God will ever bless me with a daughter one day but I hope so lol. I loved this. It would allow me to be the mom I felt like I needed. I love my mom she did the best she could, I just wish that we were closer when I was coming up.
Im glad I watched the whole video since the snippet about who was AC first had me thinking the mom was the the wife and not her mother. I never saw makeup as a serious thing like my parents generation. I wear it because I like it not because It changes my appearance. I don’t wear heavy makeup either. I let ky daughter wear makeup from time to time because I teach her to love herself without it but just like a little liner and shadow. Real modest

This makes me so happy as a man hoping to have my own nuclear family someday, the father is really lucky to have such a kind and thoughtful person for a wife
Interdependency I agree with momma and the daughter. They should be able to also call one another out and correct one another to an extent. My brother did ultimately raised me, but after he had his children that role was detached. My sibling bond with all of siblings are fine. For all my siblings and people in my life I want them to feel safe to call me out on my ish and correct me 😅 healthily.
@EJayMD-11 I disagree, the older sister being the punisher, corrector alters the relationship of peer. But I agree the sisters should respect and listen to her as a peer. For example the daughter was speaking on boundaries and the mom said she would work on that with the younger ones.
Amirah is the example of someone who is loved and allowed to be honest and herself! Good job, Ashley and Brian!
