      3:2 only makes sense for tablets since it's shorter than 16:9 in Portrait mode when detached. You can use 16:9 in Portrait mode from any 2-in-1 comvertible laptop, but you can feel the height of it.

    I know it's not easy with 3 laptops but the fact that they were not aligned and above all that the screens were not tilted backward at the same angle kind of distorts the perception of the aspect ratio (the more you tilt back the more it looks wide)

    Does the same rule applies for people working with split screen most of the time on laptops? I have been using 16:10 for most of my productivity work, but have not really tried a 3:2. I assume for tablets (mainly gaming and entertainment purposes in landscape), a 21:9 is the best?

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  2 года назад +6

      Depends on the type of work you do.
      Two 16:9 displays will still be better than one 3:2 or 16:10 display.
      Then there's the issue of resolution. Does the monitor have enough resolution to place two windows side by side? A 21:9 display definitely can do so. A 16:10 and 16:9 display may be able to do so it it's large enough and the resolution is high enough.
      E.g. My LG Gram 16 (shown in video) is 16-inch 2560 x 1600. But I always use it with one app/window. My desktop monitor is 27-inch 2560 x 1440 and I always it with one app + another app beside/overlap.
      3:2 aspect is most useful when display size is smaller. For larger displays, you can get more resolution to display more content so even a large and high res 16:9 display can show more vertical content compared to 16:10 or even 3:2, depending on the latter two's resolution of course.

    I've always hated 16:9 widescreen for my computers, that's why I'm still using a 16:10 laptop from 2010 (which in 2023 is still good enough for my home office work and video streaming). 16:9 becomes somewhat okay on a 27" fhd monitor, though even then I notice that some more vertical space would be preferable. 16:10 is still not ideal for a laptop, of course, and my next machine in a couple of years might very well be a 3:2 (if avaliable) which seems to be the best compromise between the old 3:2 and the now long common 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

    @farishanafiah8461 10 месяцев назад

    I never understand why there are people who always say 16:9 is outdated and 3:2 is better as it's never always been the case. 16:9 still gives wider viewing than 3:2. By contrast, 3:2 is still cramped compared to 16:9, and that's before even mentioning about the black bars on the top and on the bottom when watching videos.
    The only reason why 3:2 is even a thing in the first place is because of convertibles and tablets. While 3:2 is still narrower than 16:9 in Landscape mode, 3:2 is shorter than 16:9 in Portrait mode. Shorter screen means easier one-handed operation. You can use 16:9 in Portrait mode, but you can feel the height difference between it and 3:2.
    As for 16:10, that's basically the compromise of giving slightly taller screen in a 16:9 body, that's all.

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's not that 16:9 is outdated. 16:9 is more suited for watching shows and gaming. Given a FIXED width, 3:2 will give you more physical space and pixels compared to 16:10 and 16:9. 3:2 is also more usable when used in vertical orientation. I've often use a 16:9 tablet only to wish that it can be wider. In vertical mode, it's already tall, so I don't care about it being taller or shorter, but I wish it could be wider.
