Love these dude
I love you
Thats rad
Bro love
@@grainydaysss I love you too both of you let's have a 3 sum
i don't know if this is by design or not, but your videos are very calming. you've created a very unique environment that's less about "let's get the craziest shot ever composed" and more about "here's how i do what i love." they're great to watch actively and listen to passively, and they've given me a lot of insight on my own process and ways to improve. honestly, it feels like talking with an old friend after being apart for a while. it's incredibly therapeutic.
Wow, that might be one the nicest comments I've ever gotten thank you so much!
i agree. they make me feel very at home and as if we were just friends taking about some pictures
Indeed 2 years later, still doing the same. Great consistency sir! Love the vids!
@@CarlRavancho a true legend 👏🏽
Only recently found this channel and I was thinking exactly the same!
dry humor, film photography, beer, you have everything covered.
Love it.
water*
Not sure how I came across your channel but it has quickly become one of my favorite photography channels. Always happy to see a new video posted. Also, Baxter is super cute.
Just got back from my first trip to Death Valley & Alabama Hills. Next time you go, don't miss the Alabama Hills Cafe in Lone Pine. Killer breakfast & fresh made pastries/pies!
All in all, the best photography vlog on RUclips. Minimal talking, tasteful music, relaxed pacing, deadpan self deprecating humor, unexpected answers to life's questions, and excellent demonstration of films and cameras. And an appropriate nod and obligatory middle finger to digital.
That is my favourite water.......😀 Photography and humour, nice work.
gotta stay hydrated ;)
Love the Alabama Hills, although at 73, my trip next year will not include camping. The Lone Pine Best Western will have to substitute. I could duplicate your experience with my Galvin 6x9 view camera, using roll backs or 2x3 Grafmatic and some frozen (long expired 6x9 sheet) FP-4, but I'll use my Pentax 67 instead. My last trip there I passed a terrific twilight moon shot because my fellow traveler was bitching about skipping lunch and wanting dinner. My mistake, but it also cost my friend his sidekick status. I'll never do these trips with a non-photographer again.
This has been my favorite episode so far. I loved a lot of the shots you made on this trip. That opening B/W frame was absolutely amazing!
thanks man, I like that one too
“Packed the cooler full of water” 😂
"I know this is a film dominated channel, but.. uh.. sorry. If it means anything to you.. uh.. i didn't enjoy it, and it meant nothing to me."
Laughed way harder than I should have.
10/10 channel mate, I love your style, my favorite film channel, keep doing what you're doing.
Great shots. The black and white remind me of Ansel Adams, really great video too.
Hey, I know you say your photos are junk or crap or dongs or whatever, but I love the heck out of em'! Thanks for making your content, it's truly one of the only channels that makes me laugh annnd it's informative. Thanks again.
Damn dude your videos make me laugh more than 95% of stand up shows on Netflix
this was a great start to my day and also made me laugh thanks
No, thank you for watching
Can't stop watching... Only a few episodes left... GrEaT!!!
Came here from Matt Day's channel where people were mentioning your channel and so glad I did
What I love about your channel is that it's like listening to a friend telling you a good and very funny story (love your sense of humour man) while showing you a bunch of pictures from his last camping trip. No need for fancy models in bikini, overly technical details and beauty dishes in a studio or vanlife supposed paradise... just simple stuff. Life. Memories. Fun. Thank you man !
Great humor, great pictures.
I’m beginning to see an underlying theme here with the shrek references in these videos 😂
It's my favorite movie soooo yea ;)
That storm rolling in over the mountains with its thunder... Wow man, that looks like an incredible experience. Great video and nice photos.
Your work is so dreamy! Absolutely stunning!
Good work. Love the channel (and Baxter) 👍
Cheers my man
Barney and Baxter should hang out :)
Oh man.. those black and whites are awesome !!!
Excellent video! Some of these shots (especially the first few BW ones and the Portra ones at the end) are amazing. Really enjoying this content, keep it up :)
thanks mang
seriously? i think the colour of the tent looks amazing, especially the shot at 5:54 ! the shot just looks so peaceful
Man I’ve been watching all your videos the past day or two and I love your work and sense of humor. Keep up the solid work dude.
I think I've watched most of your videos now and I have to say, your humour and narrative style is very entertaining. I've been tinkering with film myself and your channel is refreshing. Keep up the content, love your channel.
This is my favorite photography channel! What a perfect combination of beautiful natural scenery and a sense of humor :)
Nice video. And sensibly carrying plenty of flavoured water 👍
stumbled upon one of your videos, fell into a few more. sub'd shortly after because of the enjoyment I get from short-burst laughing at your sporadic and dry humour that you subtly add into your narrative haha
Great present, think I’ll watch it again!! ☺️
Cool and good vid. The hp5 shots look like you used a filter but the b roll says otherwise. Interesting.
I really liked this. The mixture of dry humor and good shots is awesome.
I know advice is annoying, but I really suggest getting a 2-stop or even 3-stop soft transition neutral gradient. So much of the scenery out west needs taming of the top half of the shot. The GND filter probably saved more shots for my Mamiya 7II than anything besides remembering to take off the lens cap. Even the screw-ons work great with their fixed centerline (if it's a soft transition). But if you want the most control, there's nothing better than the Wine Country Camera system, followed (IMO) by the Breakthrough Photography setup, followed by the Lee system.
I'd also get a good (!) circular polarizer for the cloudage and lake shots.
Always so happy to see your videos! Makes me excited to be shooting some landscapes soon
yea! landscapes all day errday
The jokes are even better because of the monotone delivery haha such a good video! Definitely subscribed!
I have the same tent! Coleman Sunroof I think it's called. Ugly color...yeah. BUT that thing is durable as hell and an awesome 3 season tent. I've had mine for 4 (?) years and it has even made it cross country with me.
Yea I won't deny it's a durable and all round baller tent, however its ugly as a thousand plague rats from late 1300s europe
Stumbling across your videos randomly has single-handedly rekindled my love for photography and made me want to get back into it after dropping it for so long. Thank you, subbed and watching!
Beautiful photos!
liking the dry humour; awesome shots
Oh my god these are so beautiful it’s making my stomach hurt with passion 😩
Great images and its great seeing Baxter 4 years ago. So cool to see how your channel has evolved.
Great shots with Graflex. I recently picked up a 2x3 and a 120 back, but haven't as yet had a chance to use it. Very stoked after seeing this. Definitely checking out your other videos as well.
Thanks! The 2x3 graflex is super underrated! Have fun
"I smell feeear" DooM 3 alpha. Great photos, you are motivating me a lot to use my lomo lubitel 2 again. Ciao!
One of the best photography channels so far, and really nice humour also Baxter is like the cutest dog in the word xDD
So..... I think he had an anamorphic lens on his phone camera for this. However, I think it was slightly canted and.... not de-squeezed properly? Doesn't matter. I still love him (Baxter).
Alabama Hills is such a sick spot, I went there last year in September and definitely wished i saw this clip before visiting. Very good video my bro!
beautiful. looove the sunrise photos
definitely one of the most beautiful spots in California for sure
love your channel.amazing shots.love from Greece
Very nice images, I like the sunrise photos a lot.
Beautiful images. Love your wit.
You have awesome content man, I like your video style - keep up the great work!
I love your comedic-like videos and I also have a graflex 2x3 camera
Baby graflex 2x3 army!
One other question, did you use the same lens board for the baby Graflex?
Nice shots and awesome channel
cheers
This was so cinematic to watch! Loved it
Awesome episode, that Contax is tack sharp!
these shots are... AMAZING!!!!!
cheers man
I'm convinced RUclips recommended I watch this video again because of the water in that coolerbox. Timely.
Hahaha love these videos man. Great work. Your humor kills me. Those sunrise shots were epic.
cheers my man
8:32 is is a killer shot!
Love your channel!
Appreciate the humor, subscribed :)
Recently subscribed, I'm obsessed. Please keep it up.
so glad i stumbled across this channel. Love it man.
Laughed so much! Keep it up!!
Great pictures, made me laugh my ass off as normal 😂
only 3.4k subs!?, i can’t wait to see this channel grow
( i don’t think i’ve ever commented on a single youtube video ) :’)
well then welcome to the party
Feel like you've really settled into your style and channel now - great going man! Are those black and white shots with a filter? Or is the underexposure just adding the more prominent contrast to HP5?
Hah thanks! Yea I'm thinking the 2 stops underexposed made it a bit more contrasty, admittedly I added a little bit of separation in post but definitely not a lot
Dude, great shots!😊 I just love Baxter though ...
Who doesn't, he is definitely the star
great video dude, love that 4runner.
Darn How is this not a million sub channel
shots at sunrise are great
Cheers!
Great video, definitely make me want to shoot film!
I notice you have the same rangefinder on your graflex as I do on my Busch Pressman. Does yours work? I don't think mine does but maybe I'm just not using it right. Also I don't think I need it because the ground glass in the back does the job for focusing.
Mine works but I don't think its aligned correctly so I just don't use it. I just use the ground glass in the back
Do you have a recommendation for a camera bag? The one in this video looks nice
Great video!! I really liked the look of the black and white shots. You said you under-exposed by 2 stops to add contrast. Did you then push it 2 stops in development? Or did you still develop normally?
Thanks man! I did not push the hp5 in development, they were developed normally and I added a little bit of contrast to the final image in lightroom
Dude! Awesome. Love the hp5 shots
Cheers!
this is so beautiful, your channel is so underrated.
Baxter's a goooood boi!!
2x3 may be a dead format, but 6x9 folding cameras from the 40's with questionable bellows are the only medium format cameras in my budget.
I enjoy your monotone style sense of humor, but your video more great work I subbed👍
Love your work, dude.
Thanks g
grainydays you’re welcome, homeslice
Such an underrated channel!!
hey jason, is it me, or are your talking head bits a bit distorted. The image looks crooked. Love your channel btw
it took three vids and you already top my old favorite youtubers by F A R
I’m just here to say I’m subscribed at 8.5k,, before you have 1m :)
please, tell me that jaguar sound at 3.40 wasn't random. it reminds me ETID
Make a video about how you store your films ... especially when you are outside 😀
Hey Grainydays, mind if I ask where you get that fantastic music from?
Love these vids
Is that mountain lion sound effect from somewhere specific? It has been bugging me for days. Something tells me it is from an old PC game.
Haha I don't know, it's kind of the typical go-to sound for a lot of tv shows and movies I think
Same size as medium format but what was that sheet you took out every time you shot? I never seen 2x3 shooting but those ilford and cinestill shots came out great !
Dark slide
thanks man! Yea it was the dark slide for the roll film holder
You pushed it to 1600 but did you develop it for 1600 also?
Great stuff. keep it up!
I live in Alabama and was excited about going to these hills. Quickly disappointed.
same lmao
Well played!
I shot a roll of Colorplus 200 recently, but it was really really grainy when scanned. Did you have the same experience?
you just made me miss one night camping so much
I was low-key sad you didn't go to actual alabama.
I'd be fun to see you hike the appalachian trail
So good
I don't know how dafuq i found your channel but i subscribed instantly
