Thanks Stephan! My training partner favorite move is the Guillotine Choke and my poor neck has suffered for too long! Can't wait to try this out. Love your channel. Keep these great videos coming.
Thank you for post Prof. I’m a newby who’s been caught in this a couple of times now. Maybe I’ll get out of it the next time.....before everything starts going black? 🤣🤦♂️
Which one of you guys farted at 0:46..lol. I love the video. I got caught in this type of choke in krav Maga sparring and couldn't escape. I had to tap.
Thank you Stephan, very nice video but i have a problem when others use that counter to me and i can't find a counter for that counter so as not to be found in bottom side control! Anyways thank you for your support!!!
Thank you for all techniques. A question, in case of guillotine and the opponent goes to the strong side, meaning the right side in your explanation, is there a chance to get the "oVince st preux" choke or you should do something to counter that? Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise.
There's something I'm misunderstanding about the Von Flue choke. It seems that to apply enough pressure to get your opponent to tap, you need to put yourself in a position where you're easily swept (a sweep which really does seem surprisingly easy to pull off). But don't apply the pressure to avoid the sweep, and it's just merely uncomfortable. Is it that some people have body types (like OSP) where they can position themselves to get enough pressure to get choke properly yet not set themselves up for a sweep? I have a hard time imagining that UFC level fighters don't know the sweep defense to a Von Flue choke...
honestly i know this sounds crazy (Brown belt in BJJ) but my favorite counter for any guillotine when youre on the ground on top is just transition to a von flue which is basically a triangle choke but my most important thing when im using that as a counter is i try my best to get out of a halfguard under hook and pass to side control and keep my hips high and everytime or most of the time i get out of a headlock just using that choke
I disagree that they have nothing in this instance, if you transition to the opposite side as you showed it stops you getting guillotine choked but when you’ve got a strong guy head locking you like that and squeezing it’s still highly problematic and uncomfortable to the point where a lot of people will panic and tap, not a position you want to be in at all
Gd day Stephen. Just saw this video this morning. Too late. Last night I was caught in a GC on top of him when he had already lock my legs. So I am unable to transition to the weak side. How is a good escape technique for this? Thanks.
That’s why jiu-jitsu is so important in life, it’s all about detail, detail and detail, just like life, with detail comes discipline and strength 👌🏻 thank you for this
@Stephan Kesting: I've been reviewing the guillotine choke in street confrontation scenarios. What do feel about Kenpo's "Locking Horns" technique??????
I did this escape to weak side today vs opponent but he was so much bigger snd stronger he cranked my head until i tapped. From weak side against strong opponent who is cranking whats my next step?
thanks! i hate my sparring partner for this haha. he is 2x stronger than me and whenever he gets me in this position its very hard to escape. so now ill beat him
The part about this that annoys me is after escaping to the side and someone just hangs on to it for dear life. I'll eventually break the grip and a lot of times end up with some arm lock. Where I'm getting screwed is at my neck hurting for the next few days due to the strain put on it while breaking the grip. Do you have any tips for that?
More No Gi techniques please. Great stuff

The one thumbs down is from the guy who got choked going to the wrong side to defend...
How tf did khabib escape that lol
He is a Monster
Dragon neck
Not to say Poirier has black belt in BJJ.
Ikr i was thinking this before clicking lol
Didnt they explain in the video precisely the answer to that question? Did you watch the video?
So good!

What if he already has me on the strong side is there any defence to that?
