Yes I been listening to Teena since I was a teen in the 80’s Even saw her and Rick James in concert . You got to listen to Deja Vu (I’ve been here before) one of my personal favs by her.

What made her stand out aside from the obvious, were her wonderful songwriting talents. She could be a wonderful storyteller. She knew how to evoke colourful, vivid imagery and she had deep, broad vocal and musical talents to deliver her songs. Portuguese Love is a great example. Who knew anything about Portuguese Love until Lady T sung about it?

Deja Vu is damn near a spiritual experience to listen to. It really is one of those songs where if you closed your eyes and listened to it you can easily find yourself swaying side to side and crying. That's the true beauty of great impactful music.

I heard this joint driving down 580 freeway from east Oakland California to San Francisco Bay Area on the Soft and Warm Jazz format radio station KBLX back in the day. It was a warm summer night in the Bay and listening to this joint driving over the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge blew my mind. Of course I had sparked up earlier made it even better. R.I.P. Lady T one of the all time greats.
