- It's rare when a product works as advertised AND bolts-on like it's supposed to. This is not a sponsored video we are just passing along the good vibes about an excellent product from Place Diverter and Controls. In episode 170 of Mike Finnegan's Garage we swapped nozzles on the back of our Berkeley jet drive, which powers our 1976 Rogers Bonneville TR and GAINED three mph of top end speed. Our butt-dyno also says this mod also increased the boat's holeshot. We also adjusted the angle of the nozzle and gained another two mph of top end speed. The nozzle swap took less than twenty minutes to complete and required no drilling, no wiring, and no grinding. It was just that easy! Want more info? go here:

Jackstand's boat is now more like a strainer with a big block now.🤣
🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣
Lol. Im sure they can fix it.
@@MrDavidelliottjr it would be faster and cheaper to just replace that junky hull.
@@MrDavidelliottjr the hull is in two pieces idk man
They're not done with it either. Next race is a trailer race, backing, jumping, etc. A broke in half boat is not going to get any better after the trailer race
You may want to rewatch james last video again. They split the seam between the top and bottom half of the hull, all the way around.
Just wrap a tie down strap around it.
I just started the video and came to say the exact same thing lol
Yeah, but I read a rumor he has a 632 stashed somewhere. He might just have a sneaky bait and switch up his sleeve. Who says he's gonna use the red death trap with the 454?
I vote zip tie stitch
Duct tape and cable ties, she'll be race ready. 😆
Watching the bigass smile on Dave's face and yours just made this video.
I appreciate you Finn...can we please make this a thing...Sunday morning uploads. Reminds me of waking up and watching those weekend car shows. Keep up the good work
The best part of any of these videos is how much fun you’re having while making them!
Not having to adhere to motortrend's rules is also great.
@@alexcorona Motor Tends lineup is sliding downhill especially due to forced changes of show types like sticking the guys at garage squad with bogi, it all seems so contrived and not believable. Where I used to watch
most of the shows on the channel now I only watch a select few.
If they keep it up I’ll cancel my paid subscription altogether.
I have to commend you Mike, the music in your vids is always top notch. That opening was perfect.
Jackstand Jimmy broke the hull on his boat in the ocean competition. So it might be awhile before that race happens
nothing some fiberglass work wont fix(with carbon fiber bracing, in place of the rotted out wood. LOL
Does Jack stand run with Cletus
@@scottr6394 yes
@@chadpacetti2710 thanks
Jackstand's boat barely runs. You'd have a pretty decent chance of beating him with a trolling motor! 😆
Not to mention they almost sunk it in the last challenge by splitting the haul
Dude it runs really good when it runs he just for some reason hasn't given what that boat needs not to mention ya it has a crack all the way around the top but it still floats and can be raced I just wouldn't take it in rough water or very deep water 😂😂😂😂
@@adamreynolds1851 can you explain where on a boat the haul is? is that with the passengers or is there like a trunk or something?
@@charlestorruella8591 some reason?isn't it a $2500 boat challenge that jackstand already grenaded the budget on harder than they grenaded the hull hahaha if the hull was minty I thought he was gonna throw money at it after the challenge
Jackstand's boat is totaled. The entire hull cap all but broke off during that last video. It could probably be fixed but that style of jet boat doesn't really work in Florida waters anyway.
I remember when my local lake in Kansas got that low. Floating docks not floating, boat ramps unusable... They had the spillway shut as much as possible. I remember hanging out there one night on one of the docks with some friends. 24 hours later I couldn't even get to the end of that dock. It was underwater. The whole lake level rose so much from the storms that night that even opening the spillway completely couldn't stop it. We had a massive cell stall out right on top of the lake and then slowly moved northeast (upstream obviously) followed by a few more waves of storms that did basically the same. It was mind blowing!
Which lake? I’m just a couple miles from the Marion reservoir
I really like the profile of that boat.
I bought a Sanger circle runner v-drive new in 1982. There weren't many hot boats in Indiana. X wife talked me into selling.
😂
I knew bugger all about jet boats before I started to follow your channel, im still no expert but I just love the way you guys roll, you explain everything and you are not afraid to show some of the nuts and bolts stuff. If I'm being honest that's what interests me the most I like the engineering behind all things fast its never boring. For me the enjoyment comes from watching a build from an idea through to it hitting the road or now the water. At some point I will build myself a jet boat the only thing holding me back is the water is always bloody freezing here in Scotland, thank you all so much for sharing your projects with us and also for the music I've regularly used shazam to find music used on your shows, thank you guys again for all this.
A tough day at 'the office',and smiles all around.(Was I the only 1 expecting him to run out of fuel?)
I’m happy for Dave. Great friend to have.
Wish we a RUclips and Finnegan's garage in mid 80's when I had my '79 SleekCraft 18' Sportster w/466 ci Ford. I would have added even more MPH then I was able to achieve with my build. Thanks for the great videos man!
Every comment: "Jackstand's boat broke in half!"
I'm sure Mike knows that now. These videos aren't broadcast live.
Love the Sunday Morning videos makes the start of the week complete!! Thank you Finn and David! Building my own RC Blasphemi as a winter project! should be fun! Maybe even take my drag slash 67 C10 body and do something with it...Love this Channel!
Always a great time with FSM. I used to like your 1st intro, but you always have great music. And the content is the best. Thanks for the ride along. It never fails.
The shape of that boat upside down will make a good looking scoop. And original!
What phone mount is that? I need something for my race truck that isn't totally spring loaded.
3mph with the nozzle change, and 2mph with the angle. LET'S GOOOO BOYS!! good stuff.
Perfect timing, I was just heading to the garage for a dab.
fuck yea
Private snuggles and a dab can't beat it XD
Same here.
Yeeeeeee
I like to dab, but boy doesn't fuck up my flower tolerance!
Seeing you two have fun makes me smile 🤗🤗🤗
As a guy who grew up around jet boats and v drives my whole life in NorCal on lakes and the California delta, loving this content man!
Interesting watching the changes to the nozzle and the angle and seeing the speed come up
That was actually very informative and entertaining. Good job guys!
Its why I like this channel when its not doing give aways. It reminds me of the speed shows (minus the music) from the mid 70's.
It's funny how non-boaters will "$600 for 5mph? That not worth it!!" But adding 1mph generally takes 10-15hp, which takes $1000-$1500.
I had a 1975 Wriedt Spoiler with the 455. It loved the nitro! That boat would crab sideways when you tried to keep the thrust neutral. Tons of fun!!
Always a pleasure watching man ... Hope to see that socal caddy come up here soon you should definitely spray it..
Mike: Did you bring the new nozzle?
Newbern : …. I uh…
😆
Hey Finnegan, I love the jet boat videos! I have a 74 Avenger that I want to put full stringers. Have you ever done any stringer work?
Place diverter is a great company. 10/10 would recommend.
I been thinking of buying one of these boats, and now you just made up my mind. Love the boat man
I miss my '78 Kona with a 460 Ford. It would jump like that when it fired up. It was so much fun. Not to mention the V8 screaming through the river valleys in Northern ID and WA
Bad ass - I bought the blue Corporate Jet from Tim Place last year. The 76 Rogers Bonneville TR is a sexy hull for sure!
Well enjoying the boat content Lads, Cheers.
The Boat content never gets old just like the renegade Boat it'll never die still remember the Boat kill(roadkill) episode when you guys swapped the muscle truck engine in it drove the jet boat then pulled the engine and went back into the muscle truck
Newbern was having the time of his life out there..🍻🍻.
Freedom on, gentlemen..
Awesome video daves face and big grin was worth it all great too see the great friendship...
I love it I love it I love it!!! Finnegan I abslooutly love how you had him make all the passes... he got pumped.. you got pumped... OHH my Friend it was electric to watch but not dangerous. Good Good video!
Glad to hear going back to some car stuff. Not that the boat vids are bad. Hell I’ve been looking for a project jet boat myself, after seeing your jet boat builds!!! if I can build one to smoke my built bass boat I’m game!!!!! I just like anything, land, or water, that goes fast!!!👍👍👍
I love Watching yall blast by my buddys dock, so very cool. Thanks.
thanks , that was interesting ! Cool boat , looks and sounds great !
Great video as always brother
More boat stuff! What are the specs on the LS? Iron block? 5.3 or 6.0?
Hellyeah boys you and Jack stand Jimmy can not wait for this
Thanks for the video!
Sweet. That boat is so cool.
The jet boat content is by far my favorite
Finnegan makes me want to smash icons all day long.
Love Boating content! Thanks Finn!!!!
The Rodgers is a really cool old jet boat. Place Diverter are the best. The best riding and fastest Jet boat I had was a 74 JR Fiberglass (KONA) Makia bubble deck. Unfortunately they were all Olds big blocks but still very fun.
Whats wrong with olds?!? hahaha They just need a liitle more help.
The things Dave does for speed lol. Great video.
I have never been interested in boats really, but this was a lot of fun. I'm thinking it might be a good time I don't know like with a really fast boat. Thanks for the content!
Fast boats are a lot of fun!
This video is exceptionally fun and enjoyable thank you thank you thank you
That's awesome guys. That lake reminds me of lake Tapps in Bonnie lake washington. How they drain the lake I don't know if it's because maybe it's a reservoir?
Nicely done boys!
Up here in pennsyltucky in winter, back when we had jet skis, we used to put on thick wet suits and use ice burgs as race buoys.
Look at all the freedom! I love it!
Thanks for raising the prices/demand of jet boats.
Those are like summer boating temperatures here in Canada… lots of boating season left!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Love watching your channel...
You guys should make a custom nozzle that comes up out of the water by a foot so the blast of water is above the surface of the lake (river)...to see if the boat is propelled more by having the jet pushing against the water or if the entire force created by the thrust is just the reaction of the jet pumps action...that would be a great video...thanks for the awesome content fellers
It's begging for a little shot of nitrous 4-500 shot! I literally laughed out loud 🤣
you will break 1 million subscribers soon enough. you guys rock!
I wouldnt worry much about Jackstand Jimmy anymore after the ocean race....separating the hull from the cap of the boat and taking on 20 plus gallons of water may have finished that turd off.
Not a huge boat fan, but its awesome watching you guys have fun
man i love watching your channel.im a big fan
I love these boat videos
Great content thanks for sharing
i live for your videos! they are the best!!
Despite what one would think, a Venturi, (like what the various inserts are) actually DECREASES the pressure of the water while increasing its kinetic energy.
Seems counterintuitive but it is what it is.
I'm sort of surprised they don't use pressure gauges on the high side of the impeller to help tune. If the pressure is at a certain point there you don't gain anything not even with more power.
Glad somebody else thought this as well. Velocity increases and pressure decreases. Bernoulli's Principle
@@kylesliger1137 ... HA... Simple hydrodynamics which is also complicated... Water, last I remember, is 800 times denser than air... Many physics and mechanical balancing issues too.. Efficiency factor limitations also.. I'm just a poor (financially limited) arm-chair quarterback living vicariously through others who can but would like to do it myself given the chance.. ALOHA myFriend... PEACE..
It was good to see the changes in practise.
Damn that thing rips. Awesome that the hull is a classic from the 70s. Boating equivalent to having a badass old muscle car.
Love that boat & the content!
Love the jet boat stuff waiting for more in frozen central oregon,
You need to bring that to Lake Chickamauga Just north up 75 about and hr away in Chattanooga!
Man these boats look like a LOT of fun, shame these aren't too common where I live, not that I could afford one right now lol.
Love it,. Love the jet boat episodes.
Let's go V-DRIVE baby!
love it. wish more youtubers were into powerboats.
If it's a race to see who can fill the boat with water fastest, Jimmy's got it in the bag!
Yessssss that would be a great video with yall racing
Jackstand's boat now has a 2-piece hull. Probably not going to be any races in that boat's future.
I wonder if it can be fixed?
@@kb9oak749 Yes it can.
Mike says he’s on stand by for quick maneuvers to avoid a Rogue wave….. someones been watching to much deadliest catch! 😂
Hell yeah that’s awesome!! 77!
what a sunday! just watched fab rats and matts off road recoverys new videos and finn has one too. fuck. yes.
Same here
Way to go fellas. 👍
Hell yeah big boy toys!!!
That is a good lookin boat
"It pushes and pulls in 1 direction"....let that sink in for just a moment 😂
That definitely looks like loads of fun
A comp with jackstand with finnegan behind this one would be fun but no struggle.
The boat does look good out there for sure.
I bet the people that live on that lake just love you two. But, I bet you can't wipe the smile of your faces.
I dunno guys, Jackstand and ZipTye just installed a water scoop on the bottom of their boat (makes it real low to the water for hydrodynamics) and detached the deck for weight reduction.
🤣🤣👍
Mike F hopefully a RunnerBottom project in the future.
love that boat !
lookin' good!!🤘😎🏁🤙💯
If you need a stand in Sleekcraft SST to race (same hull as Jackstand's), we have one Hartwell with a pitiful stock 454. We'd love to run with you
