There is a place not far from me where the freedom echoes off the rooftops of lakefront houses, where men dare to blast across water in machines made of fiberglass, with engine's so large that the boats nearly sink under the weight of their awesomeness. We journey to Waterloo, South Carolina, to witness the spectacle of 30 hot road boats ripping across water with supercharged V8 engines belching the music of our people through open headers. It was all part of Leonard Pope's Waterloo Boogaloo hot boat party and it was incredible!
We saw jet boats, v-drives, tunnel hulls and hydros and we put more miles in a single day behind the wheel of Game Over than we have since its maiden voyage earlier this year. There was a food truck and live music by Testarossa, who graciously allowed us to use its tunes for the soundtrack to this video you can find them at / @testarossarocks . Hopefully we can all get together again next year for another installment of this epic day on the water.

If the guy in the white boat stops too quickly, he probably sinks by his own wake.

Epic. When I was a teenager in the 80's, this was our lifestyle. All jet boats, big motors, beer, marinas, live bands, bbq, sand bars, beer, repeat. This video was like a time machine. Thanks Mike!

My dad had a black jetboat with a 350 smallblock when I was a kid, that's the first real memory of being on the water. I would love to relive that.

reminded me of the old days at Lake Lahontan in N. Nevada, the booz bay boats would head over to our beach, just rumblin across the water, Sonny Jones, Hank, and many others have some great pics of up to twenty boats all lining the beach, it made the lake so unique, great memories for sure.
I'm anticipating a RoadKill from South Carolina in the very near future.
Is Roadkill still a thing? Does it still have Freiburger and Finnegan?

My uncle always had big block jet boats....he had a place on Lake Hartwell in SC that he kept his camper and boat at. Fastest boats I've ever been on were his. I wish he was still around to enjoy your build...hell, he would have brought his to wherever you were to hang out. He would have loved it. There are definitely some fast boats here in SC. I've grown up around them my whole life.

Above most things in life, other than the birth of a child or grandchild, in my case, I can't imagine a more memorable moment in my life had I been out there with my wife in a hot rod boat if I had one! This looked like the ultimate fun weekend away from work, away from routine, and away from normal life! I will be daydreaming for a week that I get to do this....awesome!!!

Theres a place in Michigan called hardy dam, its an 18 mile section of the Muskegon river with an almost mile wide reservoir. The weekend before or after labor day every year is an event called hotboat weekend, its a 3 day party with everything from pontoons to sliver boats to cabin cruisers with twin big blocks to catamarans most also with twin big blocks. You guys would fit right in. Most weekends are the same fun but just with less boats. I was lucky enough to grow up around this place. The sound of big blocks wailing across water is part of my heart, its one of the most beautiful sounds i can think of.
Trying to watch this on my TV, but that 480p is terrible!

always loved jetboats grew up on pontiac lake not far from where you guys host roadkill nights and every august the hydroplanes and jetboats came to do their semi final qualifiers always a blast

I need one in my life and I am in Georgia. Looks like good times. My buddy had a tunnel hull jet Blown BBC that was crazy fun. He would trim it and do water wheelies with it until the carbs lost fuel and it would come back down. We would get those adrenaline laughs. Good times for sure
I agree that we need more jet boats at Lanier and allaying, however imagine what irresponsible pontoon boaters towing kids would do to make them very unsafe.

I'm on Lanier with a jet boat. It's just not a weekend mid-day thing. Any weekday, and most weekend mornings, just head on out and have a fun run without any waves. Stay away from the fisherman, and 100' from anything else, and enjoy it with your nozzle up.

Nice. My dad had a V-drive Weight hull with a 392 cu 1957 Chrysler HEMI bored to 464 cu with a big ass blower. Has like 900 house power. I can see why this is ... Fun.

Damn this brings back to the early 2000's going to Camp Far West with my buddies and staying at Quarter Mile Cove racing and riding my 2001 Kawasaki 750 Sxi Pro stand up jetski. ISJBA used to run the jetski races I was more into the Stand Up Freestyle competition, My ski had so much bottom end I could do Rickter Inverts with no wake and barrel roll my own wake. So much fun, thanks for the memories you rock dude, subscribed & liked! ✌
