Malacca is a beautiful city in Malaysia and one that we would highly recommend everyone to visit! Malacca has some amazing and vibrant street art, amazing food and one of our favourite guesthouses in all of Malaysia!

Come & visit the Portuguese Settlement Malacca... It's a small Village where we here are all Portuguese... There's a Statue of Christ The Redeemer just like the one in Rio De Janeiro... Portuguese Sea Food... Homemade Burgers u should try it u'll never regret... Especially visit Portuguese Settlement during Christmas season the whole settlement houses are lighted up with colorful Lightnings & Deco... & more.. TQ for visiting Malaysia & Malacca City...

Malacca has become so dead. I have been there 3 times in the last 3 years. I genuinely do not remember it being so quiet growing up, but in 2024 70-80% of the shops there are closed down. Even in Jonker street. There also doesn't seem to be much of a local economy, I don't see locals in the mall or patronising shops. Just a very dead and sleepy town now...very sad.
That is so sad to hear, from what we heard before we visited we thought that it would be a very busy place. We did love our time there nonetheless! ✨🙏🏼✨

The Dutch and English destroyed most Portuguese structures

@SilkyRonTheRoad I can tell you a bit. Portuguese came in 1511. Took over melaka. The Dutch later came in 1641. But europe was not stable too. So during the napolean war, the Dutch asked the british to temporary administer melaka fearing the French might take it from them. The British also temporary administered batavia (indonesia). After the British defeated napolean with their allies at Waterloo, the Dutch and British signed the Anglo Dutch treaty to split the lands in south east asia. In summary, indo china became french colonies, Philippine was under Spanish rule until the Americans took over, Malaysia, part of borneo, singapore were under British control. Indonesia under Dutch control.
Of all the colonies, those under British rule were more prosperous. They gave education, railways and better system of administration as can be seen even today.

I am leaving for Malaysia in July. Just wondering if the food and drinks are safe? someone told you you can't drink their tap water so those teas, coffees and Milos that they make are they made from tap water?? I am quite scared of getting food poisoning but did you ever go through any issues with the food or water? Thank you so much for your video btw! so informative

As for the water situation, we never experienced any problems and always drank with the locals. We don’t drink the tap water but if that’s what they use for their ice coffees and stuff then we have drank it, the only think I can say is that I think k that it’s usually boiled first which takes a lot of risk out… maybe…?
Also, we have been travelling for a long time and in a very local way so maybe our stomachs are just used to it by now… I’m not sure but we hope that you have a wonderful time in Malaysia! 🇲🇾✨
