Fyi guys I love malaysia! And that these are just minor reasons ive put together! As everyone had been asking
glad you got PR, was it MM2H programme? congratulation & very much welcome to Malaysia.
We thank you for your insight. Don't hesitate to pinpoint any shortcoming, we learn from each others.
In 🇲🇾.. about insect it's familiar & i think you from another planet..🤭😁🙏
Don't worry only Allah is perfect.❤ please sister use timestamps helps alot
No need to explain Sister. You don't owe anyone anything. We're delightful to have you and your family here, adding this already rich cultures 🙂
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.,,
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@PeterEdet-rh5ot That's actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well
@@VioletJessica- My advisor is Victoria Carmen Santaella;
You can look her up online
@@PeterEdet-rh5ot The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
I concur re: reasons 3 and 4. My fiancé and I spent a week in KL this April (loved it!), and there is no shortage of really good food, and yes, the waistline grew! To add insult to injury, the good people a Grab Food Delivery make it all too easy to indulge if its too hot or raining cats & dogs outside to go get a bite. For travel, coming from California, the most direct flight is SFO to Singapore which is 16 hours 35 minutes (non stop flight), then another 1 hour flight to KL. Throw in even a modest layover at Changi International and you literally need a whole day to get there or go home. In the end, it is worth it and we hope to come back next year. Lovely place and lovely people :-)
Simple thumb rules... diet before (at home), in MY avoid any scale and mirror, diet after (at home)
Pls come back
@@hadeqhad5474 How true! I spent a fortnight recently in singapore including 3nights in KL. It was a few weeks after hari raya (eid). I ate plates of my favourite raya kuih (cookies) and indulged in the local malay foods that I missed so much. As a result I put on 2kg! I added translations as I'm not sure of your nationality
the rain honestly is so amazing and restful and romantic as long as youre sheltered.
Agree!😊
Play in the rain. Shampoo each other's hair in the rain. As long as there is no lightning and thunder, you'll be fine.
not easy to find people playing in the rain, try ask around as to why 😊

As a Malaysian live in the UK, I totally agree with you. Here in the UK very rarely we see the lightning thunder storm. Malaysia hot weather won't kill you. The humidity will.

Cashless transaction: 1. Solve a daily problem to find coins/change for restaurants. 2. Solve getting a reliable cashiers. Against theft/mismanagement of cash.
But no shops should decline cash.
Yes,and I love cash.It adds to the local culture.
even we Malaysians are struggling to eat less, but what can we do. the foods are so good 😅
*Diabetes and heart disease have joined the chat*
Cashless transactions have nothing to do with the Chinese influence. Malaysia is one of the leading pioneers in Biometrics and RFID systems long before the Chinese in China were allowed to have bank accounts. But the e-transaction business were first popularized by the toll payment systems of Malaysian highways such as SmartTag, TnGo, RFID etc before it spread to other businesses
It is influenced by the communists in China. Clearly you haven't been paying attention. China ( the country) is taking over Malaysia slowly. Thousands of Chinese Nationals coming in suddenly have ICs. Please protect your country or you might not have one soon.
Cronyism at its bright side
Eat planning is the serius thing you should do in Malaysia 😅 I advise you to fast to avoid from eating 😉
Recently indulge in intermittent and fat fasting diet. ❤
I seldom used e-wallet, the only toll and parking, I use Touch n Go. Everything else I use cash.
Same with me❤
Wow! You sounded very seriously at the end really knock me down & ❤ it
exactly...piss off
I am a retired teacher. I dont have e wallet or qr code for payment. I pay with debit card or cash. To fill petrol in my car I use credit card. For touch n go, I reload using cash at gas stations when I fill my car, thus knowing how much money I have before hitting the motoway. Cheers

A typhoid jab has little bearing on basic food hygiene.
As a single person living in Sepang alone, eating out is way cheaper than cooking at home. However, if you do one week of food prep, yes, it will cut your food cost significantly.
I'm in agreement with all of these things. I am coming to Malaysia for my 7th visit and Indonesia on my 4th visit in July so when I always travel to countries in SE Asia or Maldives or Seychelles or Mauritius, I do always do a 2 day stopover at Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha to get to these destinations. As for mozzie repellents, always takes the Jungle Formula one which works well and Citronella mozzie repellents which is free from DEET. The food is delicious and yes you will gain weight if you are not careful.
Malaysia, Maldives and Indonesia are my favourite Muslim countries - there is so much to see and do. I hope that you explore Borneo Malaysia which is seriously unreal. And next time go to Indonesia especially to Lombok
DEET works.
@@byteme9718 Yes it does - I use Jungle Formula which has 50% DEET

Past 40 degrees Celsius it is too hot but 36 degrees with 80% humidity is really unpleasant like being in a sauna whereas 36 degrees with 20% humidity is doable as long as not in the sun.

I am malaysian malay and I shower at least 3 to 4 times a day. It is custommary for malays to take shower at least twice a day - must do b4 going out in the morning and in the evening.
Before you start the list, I already guess that FOOD for sure in your list lol hahaha!. Yes, it love and hate at the same time.. I think, most of us does have similar experience over buying groceries, later on , spoiled in freezer. Even the eggs and chicken, sitting in fridge for long long time, later on thrown away with disapointment feeling and bitter at heart, such a waste.
I mean control how u spend money and don't buy groceries if u eat out simple
@@VirtousStoic no. it doesnt meant we were extravagant spending or lack of control. Technically, if we do cook at home by ourselves, you can save very very very much money. in example, for a single person, buying half kg or 2 complete chicken thigh its only about RM 7 - 8. Cut it to 4 portion, it may last about 2 day of meal with rice. A dosen 12's egg grade a or b, about rm11, may last over 5-6 day . with only less than RM30 for 5, 6 days cost depend on your tummy.. somehow due to busy working and outing, we just eat whenever wherever were free end up use double or triple the cost even quadraple. cooking actually can save alot of money, but really time consuming, thats why some thrownaway does happen several time.
@mysticdreamworks you are very polite and kind may God bless malaysia. One thing to note is. For example 2kg of organic boneless skinless chicken breasts here costs roughly 160 malay MYR. And for me that last 1 week. But for normal people they probably eat 1kg of chicken breast's a week.
For a foreigner eating out daily compared to back home is cheap.
Btw I recommend you buy an instant pot it's so amazing for cooking fast and easy. This is the world's best and fastest pressure cooker for a good price.
Or a crock pot. This is a slow cooker
I cook rice in an instapot in 20 min. Chicken breast in stew or curry etc in 30 min. And it comes out so tender and soft. And I put it in the fridge and everyday take some chicken and sauce and it's still juicy because the sauce prevents the meat from drying.
But yes this is boring. But that's why i eat out on weekends for fun
But when one day I live in malaysia inshallah I will just eat out daily or hire a chef to cook for us on the weekend meals.for the week then leave it in the fridge then heat up. Or cook for 2 days only idk
Assalam. With a little bit of adjustment, you'd be alright living here dear Sis. I'm a Malaysian and used to live overseas with 4 seasons for many years. Yes it was at first a bit "difficult" upon returning, to live and work here, but it's all up to what exactly your heart really seeks after. Stay grateful to Allah, with IMAN & HEALTH to continue to please Him, always.
Barak Allahu fiki.
yess sir, always be grateful to Almighty...
For the weather, you are a bit unlucky because this year is the worst climate problem in South East Asia..the nations were hit with extreme weather (El nino effect) that results to excessive heat since early 2024. It never happen before for such a long period.
Adaptability and a positive mindset for your safety gets you anywhere. Whether its a 18hr trans Atlantic flight, -16 Minnesota winters, exotic foods...the world has it all. Mine happens to be Malaysia. Good thing you mentioned about the sugar content as many food and beverage orders can be done with 'kurang gula' (less sugar)
As a Malaysian myself, I also cannot stand the heat & humidity. It's worst when you suffer hyperhidrosis like me.
The heat IS something to get used too! Someone should invent air-conditioned clothings especially hijab!
Try to open a saving account in a bank in Malaysia. And you can use the debit card for buying goods in supermarket, etc. Should be no problem when making transaction 😊😊

I really enjoy your feedback on the 'not so good' factors about staying here in Malaysia. Agree to all the five factors, and I think life in Malaysia evolved around the weather and our proximity to China and India as our culture is very much influenced by these two giant countries
The weather will get better. It's freakingly hot this year. I remember 33° peaks and 23° in the mornings. I use to drive around with the windows down.
I hate mosquitoes that's why i live in a condo, zero mosquitoes, zero ants, zero insects, you can open the window 24 hours no problem 😄

I was expecting this video to be negative due to the title 😅 but actually, it was a lot of positives and useful advice for those intending to come to Malaysia. I assume you're using grab as well - you can also start using their ewallet as well to have a second wallet to use. That Fintech is also going into digital banking so maybe you maybe be able to access that (not sure what's the criteria for non-Malaysians) to set up a savings account. TNG btw is introducing a debit Visa-based card so you can also have a quasi crédit card to use for payment

Unless you are walking around the city or the countryside on foot from 10am to 3 pm shooting a video for YT, the 36° C and humidity are tolerable because in the homes you are either under fans or with ac. Step into the car for office, schools etc , you are in ac again. Offices/ indoor workplaces have ac and fans. Drive back home in ac again. Taxis , buses and trains have ac. Going out usually will be in late afternoon or evening when it is cooler -but then malls , shops and restaurants have fans and ac. I think that is how the general population cope except for some😂
I am Malaysian living in the USA for over 40 years. Planning to move back and retire in a kampung in Perak . I will have to learn to live with the mosquitoes and monkeys… hopefully not the Malayan Tigers. We got phytons and cobras… so insects is not so bad I guess… lol

Question. What’s the best way to minimise conversion rates if your sustenance is from overseas. Credit card foreign transactions are usually charged 2-3%. During my short visit, I find living in a “condo” in downtown KL is quite convenient if you just rely on the rail system. Owning a car, driving and paying road tolls is too stressful here. Don’t think I’ll need a car. You can easily find breakfast of toast and half boiled eggs for RM10. That’s all I need to start the day and then spend slightly more on a nice dinner. I think my retirement savings can last a lot longer in this country. Cheaper to visit surrounding countries too.

Malaysian weather literally is quite blessing.. average between 26°c - 32°c, except El-Nino experiencing right now otherwise towards July till January next year will be the cooling season as monsoon is coming up..
It's also a blessing humidity to make your skin moist as an anti-aging and helping to get rid of some toxins too..
