Malaysia weather is the same all year around, 33~34 degrees with a chance of rain, and you never know when it is going to rain. I read my weather app, it said it was going to rain in the morning, so I stayed home, and it did not rain, afternoon when it was not supposed to rain, I went shopping, the shopping centre was 5 minute walk away, on my way back I was hit with heavy rain, just a bit over a minute, and I was soaked, just as I reached back my building, the rain stopped. This is definitely a fair observation. I'm Malaysian, spent half my life in Sarawak and half in KL. Yes the people you spoke to are correct, it was a lot cooler when we were kids in the 80s & 90s. Also KL had a lot more trees. Many of the parks have either been reduced or removed completely, replaced by buildings. How we locals survive - in the city, we walk either in the mornings or evenings only, avoiding midday strolls. We do generally live with primarily live with the windows open and fans on. And lastly a lot of us who can't stand the heat, we will head to the islands, beaches, hills or mountains for cooler weather.
Remember that KL is also in the Klang Valley, meaning it's not just about the evergrowing concrete jungle, the heat is trapped in the valley surrounded by the hills.
2 months is a little too short a time to have a comprehensive look at any country, there are so many states, cultures as ways of living that keep us all here. 70% of the time, the temperature ain't bad at all. But like how winter countries can have harsh cold climate months, we have equally hot melting months too.
Anyways, hope the next time you drop by, stay a little longer. Come visit us Borneo side ❤

You’ve hit the nail on the head, bro. I live in Northern California, and I had this romantic notion of one day retiring in a peaceful Islamic country like Malaysia since I had heard so many good things about it. In the November December timeframe of 2012 I came to Kuala Lumpur for about two weeks to check it out. I loved everything about it. The people places cuisine culture, but just couldn’t believe how hot and humid it was even in December. I asked the locals if it’s cooler in summer like some sort of upside down weather pattern, but I was sadly disappointed to hear that that’s when the real summer hits in June through September. That quickly changed my mind about thinking of making Malaysia a second home for myself.
I thought I was just a little too weak living in humidity free cooler environment. It’s good to know. I’m not alone and I’m not crazy. 😅

I lived in KL for about 4 years. I loved it but know what you mean with the weather. Moving from aircon to aircon got tedious at times. I did get used to being outside, but never felt 100% comfortable in this climate.
I do have to say we used to live a bit elevated where we had the occasional colder breeze. I remember in the months of November and December we had mornings were swimming in the pool felt very cold (it actually was 19 degrees at 8 am at some point, so it was actually cold). This was back in 2011 or something.
I now do holidays in counties like Sweden and Northern Italy. Especially in the Alps it is the perfect weather for us. Sunny but usually only about 25 degrees....though this last summer we had a heat wave with temperatures of over 30 degrees at 2500mtr height....made me think of Malaysia again :).

It was much more drier and cooler when I was a kid in the early 70s in a town that is now a city with 1/2 mil people . The morning air was really cold and there was dew on the grass. Back then we had only 10 mil people now we have 33 mil. Put it down to population and industrialization. One has to be a real authentic enthusiast of trees, herbs, fruits etc that make our food and medicine to really love it here. Young man, your assessment of our country is true with regards to food and the beautiful people that we have. In terms of affordability, when you talk in terms of dollars, everything becomes cheap. But we don't earn in dollars here. Everything is expensive for us. As of recent surveys and statistical analysis, the average monthly salary in Malaysia is estimated to be around RM 3,000 to RM 3,500 (approximately USD 640 to USD 750). This average monthly salary also reflects the gross income, meaning it is the amount before deductions such as income tax, social security, and other potential contributions are made. So, make your own calculation on how a family can live on that amount.

Why I left Malaysia. I lived in KL for a year in the Seri Kembangan area near The Mines, and as a white foreigner, the looks I used to get from non-Malaysians (Arabs) were horrendous, I did not feel safe. The heat is horrendous. There are electric/thunderstorms most days. I acquired 4 mosquito bites a day. The taxis are the worst in the world, my experience was that the Indian drivers would refuse to take you where you wanted to go, if they did not want to go there; I got a taxi to a shopping mall in the Cheras area, the driver dropped me off on the motorway, when I complained he punched me. There is a "sin tax" on pork and alcohol. Corruption is rife. All roads in and around KL are are gridlocked. Apart from the express train between KLIA and KL Sentral, the public transport is terrible, that's why the roads are gridlocked so be prepared to spend hours travelling short distances. If you want to live in Malaysia I would recommend the KL centre or Mont Kiara. If you cant stand the heat, move to the Genting Highlands. As for a pecking order and racism, it is also rife.

2 months is not enough time to assess a country. Basically, it's a traveller who got his 3 months tourist visa and left after 2 months. Good for you

Funny that European tourists come to South East Asia to avoid their cold winter. They find the heat in SEAsia too intense, but love the food and casualness.

To be fair, most of Europe has decent winters compared to Canada😅

We don’t have too cold winters! But the days are so short, and it rains, storms all the times. 20 years ago we had winters with snow and cold months but now climate has changed

I feel so envious, after living in Northeast US for many years, restaurant food costs hit all time high, tastes non impressive. The limited fast food selections are also costly, taste poor to awful!

In my opinion SoCal has the best weather I’ve experienced but it’s really expensive to live there.

I've been in KL since February and love it for all the same reasons you do - but yeah the heat (more the humidity) is pretty brutal. So grateful my airbnb has great and quiet aircon, so it's not in my face. I do miss walking around though - any more than 10-15 mins outside and I'm seeking out aircon!! Still love KL though, it's amazing!!! So many beautiful people here, I love it.

The cost of living in Canada is steadily increasing, mate. Eventually, you may have to prioritize where you plan to live, with the weather becoming a secondary consideration.

Canada weather is harsh in winter snow ❄️ but other countries like Asia are hot in summer and raining seasons. You have to be patience

@@Smiler2724 Canada's natural beauty is truly captivating, and although the weather may remain tolerable, the escalating cost of living is increasingly burdensome for individuals with average incomes. The allure of Canada's landscapes and opportunities is juxtaposed with the financial strain faced by many residents, highlighting the growing disparity between the country's appeal and the practicalities of everyday life for those on moderate earnings.

Planning for 2025 to spend 2 months on the Cameron Highlands with a rented place. I was born in Malaysia and like you said- 20-30 degrees with low humidity is all I can tolerate. I still prefer my Canada weather with low humidity. I hate air conditioning- opting for fan and fresh air. Welcome back to Canada. Almost 50 years in Canada, 2024 is the best summer yet.

I Indiana it runs most times 90-110 from May to sometimes Sept, these days. We don’t even get snow for real in Nov-March. It can be in the 70-80 range, now. It’s WILD❗️

Malaysia being close to Equatorial - a tropical countries - means hot and humid - and for sure - it's unpleasant and make you sweating all day long - so in seasonal country hot and dry it's pleasant
