Melaka has been improving its infrastructure and tourism industry at a rapid pace due to its high demand and popularity. Hence, it'll only get better when it's time to come back for your future visits. Just be yourselves. Your personality and content presentation are fine and easygoing. Which makes the vlog easy to enjoy. Thanks for spreading the love for Malaysia!😊
the number 4 in Chinese is "sei", which translates to "die" - hence, you never find a 4th or 14th floor. And the thing you sampled @ the end of the video is called dodol. It's a local sweet/candy. You guys had durian dodol.. and that looked like pretty good durian dodol to me. Look it up on RUclips to see how it's made. It's pretty cool. Gula Melaka is a local palm sugar.. and yes, gula means sugar.
Malaysia and Indonesia just like America and South Latin countries, Malaysia is preferred English speaking language, but Indonesia is more preferred to Portuguese and Dutch speaking language, the story is English John Smith the 1st settlement in America, while Christopher Columbus settlement in Southern America Latin.
Yeah, there was certainly a lot of colonization, and in that way they are very similar. Plus, Malaysia is a massive melting pot, just like the United States. We are really enjoying learning about the cultures of the places we're visiting.
WWOOO I love you guys!! It's so strange to see a new lens on a place I've been! I also have sensitive teeth Ash so I have to like sip ice cream and things hahahaha
Ah! Thanks Josie. We love you too! 🙏 It is wild seeing places you’ve been through another perspective. Get ready for a lot of that in our upcoming series! You’ll be hearing from us in every crisis! 😅😂🫶

Hello, Great video ! Which area do you recommend to stay in Malacca near convenience stores, street food markets, attractions and public transportation ? Thank you very much.
Hey! Thanks for reaching out. The accommodation we have listed in our video description has a great location! But really, anywhere near Jonker Street or the River Walk are ideal area. Lots of conveniences and streetfood. 👍
the gooey thing is called Dodol. Palm sugar (gula melaka) slow cooked for hours.. those guys selling two flavours, original & durian... used to be served during Eid only...
I couldn't find the receipt but I believe it wasn't very expensive. We used 12go.asia, as we do for most of our bookings. We took the bus. It was a really simple drive.
Gutted we missed that cocnut place! It looked incredible, we will have to try it next time we visit along with a river cruise! Thanks for the info about the whole Malacca vs Melaka... we had no idea! 🤗
Yeah, the coconut ice cream was delicious! It was a family-run business and the owners were lovely. Thanks for watching! We hope our paths cross again soon. 🥰🫶
Very interesting video and a lovely couple 👍 Welcome to Melaka aka Malacca..btw it's a Visit Malacca Year this year..a lot of things happening there.. Enjoy and explore more the hidden gems of MALAYSIA ❤️🇲🇾✌️😊
Thank you so much! We're so excited to share the rest of our Malaysia series. We ended up spending two months there and fell in love with the country. 🥰
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us. We’ve got a couple of other countries to visit first, but we’ll definitely return to Indonesia at some point. There is still so much to discover there. ❤️🥰
That glueye staff is called Dodol and is make with the very top of a coconut shot that gives a clear coconut sugar that they boil until it is thick and gluee....
Certainly, I always feared the possible taste durian when I looked at it, but when I actually tasted it, well, things went differently now didn’t they?? 😜 I hope you enjoyed Malacca!! 🤪
@@mikeandashley I suppose... you could say the appearance of it AND visually prepare it; and how it overall smells before consumption MEANS NOTHING as to how this is coming along?? 🤔

@mikeandashley my theory is long ago, there were no plastic wrappings as plastic was only invented after ww2. But asians like to throw away organic stuff eg fish guts, fish head, chicken intestines etc all over. So it stinks, therefore to solve these "garbage" issue, the british brought in crows. I assume this was to do with hygiene. Malaysians are much cleaner now but the crows have multiplied in millions. What to do.

Oh interesting! That’s weird that it wouldn’t be there then.
The number 14 is considered unlucky for the superstitious Chinese in Msia but NOT for the Malays who are Muslims.
Thanks for clarifying! Are there any superstitions that Muslims believe in?
@@mikeandashley - Muslims don’t believe in any superstition but some Muslims do out of cultural influences and not due to the Islam religion
Oh, interesting! Thanks for letting us know. We love learning about other cultures and religions. 🙂
@@mikeandashley - sure, no worries. Islam is the most misunderstood faith in the world but yet its the fastest growing religion in the USA and Europe.

What a wonderful video. Hope that you guys have had a good time and a pleasant stay in Melaka.

@@mikeandashley Yes, Melaka is quite a charming historical city. 😀
Melaka truly is a unique city in Malaysia, glad to see u guys enjoy ur visit! Thanks for coming. I'm a local in melaka btw.
We LOVED Melaka. Such a cute little vibe. We could have spent all of our time there for sure. ☺️ Thanks for watching and saying hello! 👋☺️
On your last day in Melaka, did you take the bus or train to Kuala Lumpur and do you remember how much you pay per person?
I couldn't find the receipt but I believe it wasn't very expensive. We used 12go.asia, as we do for most of our bookings. We took the bus. It was a really simple drive.
I see.
14 sounds like "death for sure" "sure to die" in cantonese. So buildings owned by Chinese will not use 14. It will use 13A.
Ah, that makes sense! Thanks for letting us know. 🙂
Welcome to Melaka 💦 thanks for sharing awesome vlog ⚘️🌱have great day & let's explore ahead ⛴️

Dodol is a sweet toffee-like sugar palm-based confection. Panas is hot. Main indigent is Gula Melaka or Coconut palm sugar.
Ah! That explains it. It’s really tasty. I’d love to try different kinds as well. 😋

What you recommend in Indonesia?
I love this place too, but never get invited to wedding or something. A lot of events are going on, probably I don't exist.
Oh no! We’ve also never been invited to a wedding there. Could be pretty fun!
In chinese language, 4 pronounce as death. so we dont put 4 or 14 etc. It is unlucky number, its just like 13 in Western country. Cheers
Ah! That makes sense. Thank you so much for sharing. ☺️🙏
Pretty good vid guys
Thank you! ❤️
Cuba google.

I think Melaka famous landmark is the Fort of A’Famosa…

@@mikeandashley weird science?

Oh wow, what a curious theory! Kind of a cool story as well. Corvids are so smart! They can be trained.
@mikeandashley you can Google, 1890 brought in from ceylon sri Lanka originally to control pest like insects which attacked crops.
Ah, that’s awesome. Thanks for sharing. I’ll give this a read for sure. 🙏
