@@ortforshort7652I can’t speak for anyone but myself. Also don’t know if you’re the same person or if it’s multiple people. I follow Gil on here and Twitter. I like him and he’s good guy clearly. Seeing his name being pushed in Served comments is just annoying, and it’s becoming annoying enough that my level of like for Gil is decreasing . This might backfire if you’re trying to promote and direct Andy or listeners to Gil. Let whatever happens happen organically. You’re just being pesty. Imho.

Your analysis of the women's game could be more insightful.
Why does Rybakina win? Simple: the form on her strokes (forehand, backhand, volley, serve) is a clear level above Swiatek, Sabalenka, Gauff, etc. Her shots are more consistent and accurate than theirs, and she hits the corners and lines more often with fewer mistakes.
Why does she not win all the time then? She's not as strong or athletic as the others. When Swiatek (Qatar) or Sabalenka (or Collins, for that matter, as she was in Miami) is really on, and all their shots are going in, they can hit past or through her. But when their form breaks down (as it often does), their strength and athleticism is usually not enough to beat her.
It's not a question of "toughness" or "weirdness." It's mostly a matter of technique. If your technique is fundamentally flawed, and you're not having one of those good days where your shots are going in, you can lose to anyone. And they do.
Agree their analysis of the women's game could be more insightful. It probably is not their focus. But on Rybakina, although I agree she has the best technique which therefore should translate into more consistent results, she does tend to hit a flat ball which carries more risk and so she can go through spells where she throws in a lot of unforced errors. Most of the time it still balances out in her favor, as even hitting with a lot of risk (close to the lines and with little net clearance), she has enough precision to end up winning most of her matches. Her real limitation is her physical strength, but by that not meaning how hard she hits the ball (her serve is the fastest, and I don't thinks she hits her groundstrokes any less strongly than Sabalenka does), but rather in that she has a tendency to get fatigued more easily, injured more easily, and sick more easily than others. If she can overcome some of this, I think she has the heighest ceiling of all, talent-wise, and will be winning more tournaments and head to head matches against top players than she already is. But i think these guys are way off with the "weird" comment...if they have been following more closely, they would see it was a small upset, but not unlikely. Any other player beating Swiatek on clay except for Sabalenka, that might have been more of an upset. "Weird" would have been her losing 6-1 6-2 on clay, but she fought and played hard, just was beaten by a better player on the day.

Iga needs to improve her serve and bring back variety to her game. With her new coach he simplified her game which worked. But against these flat hitters, she needs to use this variety (which we know she has) to give them something different to think about. In her match against Elena she tried to out hit her and hit through her and that isn't always going to work.
My kids are are also 8 and 6 and we say the same thing! These are the good ole days!❤
Andy, can you talk about your experience playing injured players? I think playing somebody injured is the toughest thing. I once played doubles against team where both of them were limping, and couldn't believe we kept losing points, and the match, to them. We were hypnotised into hitting the ball straight back to them like a magnet. Nightmare.
This is interesting. Players do tend to start smacking it, don't they? It produces some thrilling shots for the fans. I'd also like Andy's take on this phenomenon.

The idea Im really liking to come out of all this speculation is that Laver Cup might become THE venue for the legends of the game to retire at.
LC was intended from the start to honour the past legends of the sport. Personally I was sorry to see it become sooooo centred around Rod Laver. I mean great, it's the Laver Cup, but Ive always thought why aren't the other legends given a mention? Eg Newcombe & Roche kicking off the first Doubles match - announcing, doing the toss I mean. Stan Smith or especially Ken Rosewall presenting the cup.
There's scope for a lot more history to come into it. A celebratory send off for retiring Greats of the game is a great way to proceed.

Swiatek needs a bigger serve. She has to do far too much work on returns, court coverage, and hit a really high % of winners & 1st serves to make finals. She must surely look at players like Rybakina, Sabalenka, Qinwen, Kvitova, Garcia and envy how many points they get just off their serves. Everyone has a weakness(es) in their game, and her % of service points won is very high, but imagine what her results would be just with 5-6 more service winners/aces per set.
We should donate $$$ every time we hear ‘let it rip tatter chip’ to USTA development fund 😅😅
Laver Cup for me was a mixed bag o’ nuts. Chicago was amazing and if a healthy Delpo was there, the World woulda had a chance. Vancouver was missing a lot of the stars (no dis on the players who did) and the World completely housed Europe and quite honestly felt so dang underwhelming. I’m not sure bang for the buck that it’s worth it as-is. I’ll save the few dollars I have and go to IW.

It's odd to hear you have such a strong reaction of Swiatek losing a match when EVERYONE loses matches, even on their best surfaces. Hell, Nadal lost to a much lower ranked player at the FO in the midst of his total domination there. Nadal also lost in multiple 1st rds at Wimbledon and lost to a player outside the top 100. Serena still at her best lost at the U.S. Open SF to a mind-30's doubles player who had never sniffed a major. Rybakina is a great player and has shown herself to be outstanding on clay. Swiatek is not Graf.

Go worry about Brexit and royal cancer, then. Let the tennis players worry about getting into the Tennis Hall of Fame. It's the summation of the greatest tennis careers, period. Lots of British commentators mention the HoF when discussing players during matches. You're just not paying attention.

I think the problem is Iga is overrated by Andy and John. You guys are disrespectful to Elena Rybakina. She is a grand slam champion and owns Iga. She has 4-2 edge against Iga. Elena one of the few players not intimidated by Iga.The press are desperate they want a number one female star. But Iga is boring.She is good BUT Iga has an aversge serve. Elena Rybakina has a huge serve for a woman. She can serve over 120 miles per hour. Iga loses because her game is one dimensional. She doesn't come to net much and lacks variety. Elena is mentally tough and isn't intimidated by Iga.
Keep Djokovic out of it. Everyone plays for the Team, and are really committed. No-one goes into it like Meh, it's just an Exho. Except Djokovic. He isnt a team player.
