Love the feedback oscillations of these. I have an Ibanez DE-7 just because of this and does the same sort of thing perfectly.
I love this Danish Pete solo videos! Keep them coming!
Sounds like the mini is choice for longs and the Maxon is handling the shorts in a much smoother loving way. Having two delays in your line up for shorts and longs is what I'd prefer anyhow. Both are great.
Can you guys do a Fender deluxe reverb 65 vs. 68 reissue?
Dig that strat!
Nice video Pete! I think if price isn’t a factor you need to decide what type of delay you’re after. The Maxon is lush and not very noticeable. The Ibanez is more pronounced and present. I like for my effects like compressor and delay to barely noticeable, yet if you turn the effect off you miss it. I like the Maxon better. But budget wise I like the Ibanez good enough.
The Mini sounds (and looks) more like an AD-80 than a regular AD-9.
I have/had both (vintage versions) and the AD-80 is quite sensitive and harsher when in self oscillation (you can ruin a speaker with that *ggg*); the AD-9 (which i kept) is much smoother.
Nice. I love this video. I have the ibanez analog delay
AMAZING
I’ve always thought that small pedals look and sound amazing, like Mooer... I mean, those little guys pack quite a punch and are rather inexpensive ♥️ but I also dig the classic bigger stompbox look :P
Mooer makes a lot of garbage pedals. Those Ibanez pedals are solidly built in Japan. This delay though isn’t the greatest. Not bad.
This stuff's really cool but... I'd really love to see a review of the 2018 gibson les paul and sg juniors as well as the les paul special
Great vid! Ibanez sounds better for me :).... what about Diezel VH4 Distortion vs Mooer gas station 001?!!
Wow, all analog delays are not created equal. The Maxon definitely behaves better - it stays out of the way of the dry sound, all settings are usable and no runaway feedback. The dual function is nice, too.
Dual function means you can leave your reverb pedal at home.
Actually I preferred the murkiness of the ibanez, I thought the maxon was too crisp for my style, though I think the maxon is an amazing pedal! I have the maxon 808 and I couldn't be happier with a screamer!
Have the Maxon AD-9 Pro. Genuine smooth analog delay. It blends superb, also before the preamp, and it's operating dead silent. I might be an expensive pedal, but for me it's a keeper. After ten years you forgot about the pricetag anyway. ;-)
thank you for reminding, I saw the pricetag on a ts9 this week and thought I can't remenber that at all! XD I'm gonne choose between this maxon and the normal size ibanez
Lifes too short to not have the Maxon 9 pedals you like..
My old Ibanez AD9 went down so have Macon on the way
I have the mini and it's a beautiful-sounding delay. The I have no trouble keeping the oscillations under control. And it's very forgiving due to its dark repeats. I also have the Ibanez Echo Shifter, which is large and impractical, but awesome-sounding and fun.
@Josh Feierman which one do you like better, the mini or the ES?
@@themodularmodular I prefer the Echo Shifter because I think that delays should be large and have tap tempo. The ES also has really nice modulation. The (V1) Echo Shifter tap tempo resets each time you disengage the effect, though.
Sonically, they both sound great. The mini sounds a bit prettier, the ES has as bit more definition, but I love both sounds, and they're fairly similar.
I have the mini and it sounds the same as in this video.
I prefer the Maxon because it doesn't have excess bass that takes away the definition of the guitar.
Well, the maxon has a nicer sound, and while size does play a role I would buy that one if the price was similar, but with a 130 pounds of difference it's an obvious no no.
There's something about maxon analogue delays, I don't know what it is. I tried out a couple, but then I tried the AD999, and after that everything else just sounded awful. I had to have it, despite being over 2x the price. Maybe I should have tried out a few more, an MXR carbon copy maybe, but I don't really regret it.
4:19 magic
Shawbucker strat?
are you an analog sound aficionado / purist? maxon for sure, it sounds more refined. Anything else, the mini one sounds just good enough and the price difference....
Why I can hear the guitar sound better on Maxon than on the Ibanez? It sounds louder and brighter also on Maxon. Is it possible?
Because the Maxon blows the Ibanez away
Yes I have one. The Ibanez cuts the higher frequencies off your dry even with blend all the way down. Not good.
I like Maxon. They made the original Ibanez pedals in the first place. Maxon is still kicking. I have the ROD81 which is the same as the BK butler circuit Ibanez tube king . great pedal I had an original Tube King in the 90s but someone I know stole it from me. The Maxon is the same pedal. Where as the newer red "American" version had to be changed due to patent infringements. The delay in this video is obviously superior sounding to the Ibanez. But if you prefer the endless delay time etc. Then I suppose its fine. Id truly prefer a Joyo to the Ibanez though.
Have the ibanez , great little pedal lots of delay range, dangerous though with the feedback loops u can get with pushing it too far however that’s just a symptom of its power
oscillations happen with any analog delay. besides it can be super fun
Reverb pedals can produce dangerous oscillation, as demonstrated by TC Electronic in one of their videos, though using a cab which handles lows more robustly (e.g. a [nearly] full-range cab) mitigates the danger. By the way, that word is “damping.”
Danish Pete rocks. 👍🏼🎼
I use the mini on my board! Digital delays don't react so well to other pedals, I prefer analog ones and this one is Top!
INTERESANTE
he cant seem to match them up to compare, i like the little Ibanez Mini Analogue Delay, nice tone, nice decay, the Maxon AD-9 PRO Analog is a standard set vary high in the delay world.
I go for the Ibanez.
More than the one you like I would like to learn from you why you choose the one...
you can hear the high pitched sound I refered in the previous comment superimposed to the delay repeats at 4:20 you can see how he inmediately drops the knob into useless oscilation. It´s a payd ad so..... Don´t get me wrong IF you want a good slap back echo that pedal is fine, but for Guimouresque delays from the first era when he used tape delay, you need to buy a better pedal. like the MXR or a good digital emulation like Boss I think every Boss Digital Delay pedal has an analogue emulation, It´s still digital but usefull, IE: in the MXR or the Boss DD7 you have tap tempo without an external control pedal. Hope this helps.
Are these running through the front or in the loop?
These definitely sound distorted in front of the amp.
you get a longer delay time with the mini.
Could you compare the EHX Crayon to its rooting pedal? Actually I don't know which pedal you could compare it to. Some transparent OD like the Digitech Looking glass, Greer Lightspeed or The Dude? Or maybe even something like a "transparent OD shootout"?
Pretty sure the Ibanez is a Transformer.
Its irrelevant to me i LOVE Maxon 9 series the joy of ownership is irresistible!
Loop pedals, basic to mid range. (features, ease of use, etc.) It is appreciated how you compare the equipment on this series, thank you.
call me crazy but I prefer the ibanez. it has more character in a good way.
Yes, and it's to bad that he uses it like there is something wrong with it, or with him
It would have been cool if they both had a tap tempo. Very useful.
👌
The maxon is warmer, while the ibanez is a bit more dirty, I think it sucks a bit of tone. I prefer EHX analog delays
Night and day difference. This appears to be a case of, you get what you pay for. The Maxon is warmer and clearer, to my ears at any rate and I was listening with headphones.
Honestly I didn't know who Maxon was and thought it was like a Chinese knock off copying the old ibanez pedals but, when I heard it I liked it better. Now that I see it's more money, I guess my ears aren't to shabby.
Actually the very first Ibanez pedals were made by Maxon.
He doesn't say if the AD9 can handle the signal from a synth without distorting the space between the echo's. Does anyone know? Ok, how about if the pick attack is retained in the delay?
4:39 lmao Pete almost had a heart attack.
How can something so small be so effective..
Wait. I've heard that somewhere before..
No you haven't
To me if I'm elitist I would say the repeats of the ibanez are cold and quite bad defined. The Maxon is always low?
ibanez have a great sound!
Ibanez for me
Nice 🇳🇵😎👌🏻
Honestly I preferred the Mini Analog Delay.
do a sounds like metallica by busting the bank
Found the little Ibanez a bit too muffled and dark. Never been a fan of mini pedals that don’t use batteries anyway. The Maxon does seem to do its best to copy the traditional old Ibanez look. Wasn’t overly blown away by the Maxon however, but it was certainly the better behaved and more useable of the two. Personally I wouldn’t have either I would have a Wem Copycat tape delay. However, since I no longer own one and can no longer afford to replace it, my search for a nice affordable analog delay will continue.
At max delay time, in the Ibanez mini delay you can hear tha high pitched sound of the clock, the same sound as if you take a Berigher and tweak the internal trimpot to obtain the same 600ms delay time. So It´s useless to buy the mini for the longer delay time beacause it´s fake, fot that reason you can´t find demos with the delay time knob at max in the mini Ibanez for more than half a secound, then they drop It. So if you want a really good analog delay up to 600ms you have to buy de MXR Carbon Copy (Can´t remember the exact model) that costs an arm and a leg....so I´ll stick to my Boss DD7 that has a great analog delay emulation up to 1.2 secs or more. That until peadals, guitar and amp market return to normal prices If it ever happens.
Maxon Deluxe sounds just like my Behringer Analog delay!
Is that good or bad?
@@solomonsanchez1897 Good to my ears!
One is cheaper and smaller and they are very similar? Should be easy enough to decide I guess.
Ibanez for me, it's more versatil, the maxon is more conservative, more basic
Audible hiss from the Ibanez. Maxon all day.
Maxon - sounds like an AD9
Is it just me, or does the Maxon have a typical Ibanez-type housing? Threw me off a little :'D
1337million believe Maxon is known for building pedals for Ibanez. Maxon generally is the same pedal but slightly more expensive, and generally made in Japan vs Taiwan or Elsewhere
That explains a lot, thanks!
I was about to comment that 😂 that really threw me off 😆
Ibanez doesn't really make anything. Like many new companies they design their products then find a manufacture to build them. Maxon use to build pedals and pickups for Ibanez. I'm pretty sure the Ibanez mini pedals are Chinese.
el34superlead Tube Screamer mini is MIJ
Yeah... If you're going budget, definitely pick a digital delay. Analog-style delays just don't sound good at budget prices. The Maxon wins easily.
Last.
Nice.
even later
Maxon sounds better. More usable tones. But £230... nah
Danish Pete is my imaginary friend
I want a sound like video plssss
Maxon sounds better to my ears.
Just the way he turns the knobs should tip you off.
Its not a very fair comparative
Sorry I fell a sleep
The Ibanez gets in the way of your playing. The Maxon sits back and lets you be you.
RIP ears on the intro :(
Sounds like
First,
Sound like...
2:10 Prinz Pi?
both sound bad i’d rather have a carbon copy
Not the best demo video
The Maxon sounds MUCH better. Carbon Copy is better than both.
Ibanez is a mooer copy
Which Mooer?
The original Ibanez analog delay came out in the 70s or 80s and was made by Maxon for Ibanez. This pedal is a mini version of the original Ibanez pedal.
