    I'm using one since 2006. Still going strong. Working well. Charger broken though. I'm from India.

      If the charger is broken, use 2 AA (R6) batteries instead to keep it going!

    You missed one fantastic point- which is why i still use this camera after over a decade. It has a screw mount which accepts OPTEKA brand adapter made specifically for the 8612. If you can find one- buy it! The adapter screws in perfectly and allows you to use any 58mm lens including macro, my favorite, and add polarizing lenses and other filters. It is a worthy and sturdy little camera which has lasted a LONG time. And while yes jpeg and 8 pixels are meh- it also has arty yum aspects. I won’t get rid of it and i paid full price New. Good review

    Just subbed, I this really chimes with me as one of my interests is to buy and shoot with much older digital. For compacts I will only pay Up to £10. Recently bought a couple of Fujifilm bridge cameras that were supposed to not work one was 0.99p and the other £4. Both work fine after new AA batteries were fitted although the 0.99p does have an issue with the power switch but there is a workaround

      Thank you! Cool, a fellow charity shop hunter. I've taken up thrifting for these things too, although my price limits scale with the camera; if it is something really interesting, I'll pay a little more, but I usually stop at about $10 USD. Finding Fuji bridge cameras that cheap is awesome; which models?

      @@forgottencameras Fuji S5500, S5600 and S8000fd. I also picked up a GE X500 which looks vert similar to the S8000 but does not produce the same quality images.

      @@AliasMrHackenbacker Hell of a deal; the older Fuji bridge cameras start at about $20 on eBay and don't show up at thrift stores/charity shops here at all. The S8000fd is like $50+. I was wondering about the GE cameras and had my suspicions, which I guess ended up being true. A lot of the IQ difference is probably from the Fuji using a SuperCCD versus the cheapest tiny CCD GE's OEM could get at a way too high pixel count.

    Looks like a GR III on a budget, if the budget is $20 and if the the GR III had a 36-432mm zoom ;)
    Your videos are a lot of fun.

    Did anyone tried to use this as a webcam?
    It should provide a better quality than a regular webcam, but I can't figure out how to make it work on Win 11

    • @forgottencameras
      @forgottencameras  Год назад +1

      Nope, it will not work as a webcam, unless you have a capture card and get it to do a TV out, which will probably look pretty bad (usually they are composite).

    How am i recharge the CRV3 battery in this Kodak man? Please help me !

    • @forgottencameras
      @forgottencameras  3 года назад +1

      If it is a regular CRV3, it is not rechargeable. This was a common battery used in the film era. If it is a rechargeable version, there are aftermarket chargers available online for very little money.

      Have you check where do you safe the picture? There's an option in internal memory or in SD card .first press the video icon on top of the bin icon ,then press menu ,press right button and go to set up ,after that there's says "Image Storage" ,press it and there is an option again between auto (it's SD card / external memory ) and internal memory (the internal memory that's in the camera ),press auto ,and it will show up "if no memory card in camera ,use internal memory" press continue If you put an SD card on the camera and now you use your SD card to safe the picture that you taken

      And also ,I think it doesn't have a shutter sound ,but only have a digital sound when you do focussing and when you take a picture ,just make sure if the sound on .
      1) go to menu
      2) and then go to setup
      3)scroll down until you see "camera sounds" where you can choose what sound do you want to use .and "sound volume " it's where you can adjust the sound volume when you take a picture (no sound ,medium sound ,and high sound)
      And when you want to see the gallery when you using your camera press the play button above the bin button and finally you can see your beautiful pictures that you take pictures,thank you .

    Some of your comparisons are not valid. Like the RAW file. The difference between RAW and JPEG is inconsequential.
    You under rated the camera on your bias because you are comparing it to new cameras when a camera like this should be compared to itself and conventionality. Us photographers are not in a marketing race. We want to first know about image quality. Our hands can adapt to any camera if it has good image quality.
    And who is going to be twisting a plastic body? I don't know of any photographer that is going to flex their camera body.
    Leica copied this body style. That should tell you something.
    What I find that detracts from this camera is there is no optical viewfinder. That is the dumbest marketing decision camera manufactures make. A camera without a viewfinder? Give me a break. That's like producing a camera without a 1/4-20 hole for a tripod or making a camera without an attachment for a conventional cable release, just a dumb industry wide bad decision. But hey they are all in bed with one another and have psychologists on board instead of photographers.

    Why have you put an utterly useless and annoying muzak soundtrack against this video?
