    This is such a nice episode, to hear you and Sylvian talking and explaining about the Bernina line, I have a collection of machines including four mechanical Bernina's. One thing I have a question about is Bernina's sticking with only 11 needle positions side to side, I have Pfaff Creative Sensation and it has 37 needle positions side to side in the 9mm width and I find this so helpful when creating things this ability also allows the machine to have amazing decorative stitches with extreme precision even when only the 9mm width is used, things like micro sized cross stitches etc, I do not know if the Bernina 790 plus has the ability to feed the fabric in many different directions like the Pfaff Creative Sensation or Icon and Bernina 730-790. I will watch more of your episodes. Thank you for posting this.

    Thank you so much for all the fabulous tips Sylvain, you give us so much valuable information, and it’s very much appreciated. You help make sewing a joy 🤩 Would you be able to advise me on the correct distance that you should sit from the sewing machine, plus the correct height of the table when sewing. I know we are all different, so maybe a general guide perhaps. With back and neck injuries it’s important for me to get it right. Thanks again everyone 🦋💜👌

      Your table should be at a height that your elbows are at a 90 degree angle when you rest your arms on it. (Assuming you’re machine is dropped into the table. You want the machine bed at table height!). As for distance from the machine: you should not have to lean forward to reach the machine, you should be able to sit upright😉

      @@QuiltingInTheValley Very helpful thank you 😊 my machine sits on the table, not dropped in, what difference will that make do you think?

    Love the tip for recording the chain stitch seam so you can just sew, sew, sew! Also the Free hand bonus of it lowering the feed dogs. 💡

    Thank you so much. I learned a great deal that I never knew before. I was surprised to find that I could use the jumbo bobbin on my 440. I believe he said that it could be used on machines above the 3 series. I am looking forward to trying it out. Also, I never realized how useful the knee lift could be. It was just one new thing after another. If I lived closer, I would be in the shop Monday to try out the 790.

      Sorry....he meant the current 4 series. Your 440 will not😒, it has been discontinued for years. The current 435, 475, and 480 do use the jumbo bobbins. This was a change they made 2 years ago.

    Does anyone know where or how can I sharpen those roller blades? It is sooo expansive every times I buy them, even on-sale.

    • @QuiltingInTheValley
      @QuiltingInTheValley  2 года назад

      There are rotary blade sharpeners on the market. They only work if the blade is dull, not damaged. I’m other words, if you chip a blade by hitting a ruler or running over a pin, they will not work.

    I didn’t think I could afford a Bernina. I finally bought a used one on eBay. After sewing on it, I realized that had I bought a Bernina first years ago, I could’ve saved myself upwards of $7K. Live and learn...
