In this episode we ride up a portion of the San Juan Skyway - Durango to Silverton, then continue on what has been coined the Million Dollar Highway - Silverton to Ouray. Molas Pass, Idarado Mine and finally the Box Canyon in Ouray - what’s not to love on this fantastic route. Ever heard of Hip Camp? A local told me the Million Dollar Highway got its name because the average cost was 1 million dollars per mile to build in 1926.

I too followed " As the Magpie flies" recommendation. Enjoying your report. I rode a bunch of that area back in 2016 on my Honda NC700x and then took my wife back there in the car the next year. On my bike, I did a big loop, Chama, Durango, Ouray, Cortez, North Rim, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Rocky Mountain National Park and back home to NC. Wife and I rode the trains in Chama and Durango. Great experience. I want to go back and ride some places that I missed. Have fun, be safe.

Road the million dollar highway in sleet, rain, and 40 degree weather. Still was an awesome (but cold) ride.
No Guarde rails and sleet. That was a bit nerve racking i bet.
It was cold, and slippery, but still beautiful.
in the cowboy days the road was high and skinny and people got scared. and they used to say i've give a million dollars to never have to use that road again. the million dollar hwy

There is a really good mining and Jail museum at the old jail at the end of town. It's worth the price.

I am enjoying your videos and the great job you do do in presenting them. You dont spend the whole time on one subject , the music is great , one of you always shows us a good camping meal and the two of you are a great example of what life is about . My Dad grew up in Peonia Co , and the whole Gunnison Park area . I enjoy the ride from Cortez to Ridgeway to Montrose also ....! A good campground suggestion is in Montrose , showers and cabins also .. cedarcreekrv.com

Did you stop at the highest elevation HD store?
we did but it's Just a apparel store, and wow it was expensive
I used their bathroom to run cold water over my hands to warm them up. We got there at closing time, And actually the gal unlocked the store for us to use the rest room and just warm up.
What kind of cargo trailer is that?
The trailer is a Bushtec Roadstar. Highly recommend Bushtec. They’re are specifically designed for motorcycles and it pulls fantastic.
Are you ever going up west coast
We have made it to Oregon. With the stuff going on we have stayed out of Cali and Washington.

How do you manage to not to have your bikes vandalized and items stolen from your trailer?
We dont leave them in places where stuff like that happens. We also go and meet the people in the surrounding area.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife I would also have to assume, you pick the places you stay very wisely, maybe staying at popular hotels/motels, cause that has been my method as my 1250SGA attracts even none-riders at the expensive places I stay!

Have been using Syn 3 but have switched to Amsoil
