That CEC got permanently closed after there were several complaints about mice and rats in it. Supposedly one rat ran out of the ball play area one night. Later it was revealed, after CEC moved out, that the rodents were coming from K-Mart. There was a small hole in the wall where they were sneaking in. The location near I55 didn't open until years after this one closed.
I vaguely remember going to chuck e cheese as a kid for mine or someone else birthday, a good 25+ years ago. I applied to that kmart plenty of times. Not once got a call back. Struggled to get a job since old enough to work & didn't get first job until I was 19. I wouldnt have been too bad doing stocking or cleaning. I take some joy seeing these places gone out of business that never gave me a chance & contributing to my joblessness.
Does anybody body have any footage that they can show? @Mall Aholic Retail Adventures Do you have any pics clips or vids? I would LOVE!!! to see some footage!
There's another one further east in New Lenox right off 80. I was gping to do it earlier this summer but there were firemen in the parking lot doing something.
Yes! I got strep throat there and was out of school for 3 weeks! That old chuck e cheese on ogden was a pit!! They moved to a new and bigger location nearby Fox Valley Mall
The old chuck e cheese is now a Homewerks, a window and siding store. The entire facade has totally been redone with decorative brick and stone, you'd never guess it was a chuck e cheese. Keep up the filming Mall Aholic! I grew up in Lisle and briefly lived in Plainfield, Romeoville and Joliet but I also drove around all over the place (what else are you supposed to do in the Midwest? 😂) and I have always LOVED urban exploration so it is really cool seeing someone exploring and filming so many familiar places. I just bought my first house in Hanover Park a few years ago and I'm suprised how many abandoned strip malls, restaurants and houses there are in the area.
Fun fact: As this place was connected to Kmart, the Chuck E Cheese used to be a Kmart Foods.

Wow that is disgusting. An old dad joke would be that maybe the mice wanted to play as well. 😆 😆 😆
Well explains why they call it Chuck E. Cheese Bc he’s a rat and rats are found there
@@Dranfusion yes but after 2012 when he got the rockstar look he was instead a mouse so he was a rat before
Wow how did you know

So did Chuck E. Cheese in joliet Illinois closed after it got 2.0
No. It was always a vintage one. It was Showbiz pizza then converted to Chuck E Cheese. That has been around since at least 1980.
