- Here is the 4th installment of my “History Of” series
In this video I go over the history of Andy the armadillo, the mascot of Texas Roadhouse.
This video idea goes back to March 2021 just after I found out that Kent Taylor, the founder of Texas roadhouse committed suicide. So I decided to make this video as a tribute to him, because even though I don’t like Texas roadhouse he was still a good man.
I just want to thank all the websites and people who helped me complete this movie!
NOTE: this channel is recommended for ages 13+ and NOT for kids. This channel may contain videos not suitable for children and have adult language or other things kids shouldn't be exposed to. While some of my videos may be ok for kids to watch I assure you the rest is sure as hell not!

My drummer used to be Andy at the Texas Road House in Rhode Island. The hat is attached with Velcro

Texas Roadhouse was founded on February 17, 1993, at the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville, Indiana; across the Ohio River from Louisville. Founder W. Kent Taylor lived in Colorado and worked at nightclubs and restaurants there you have it.

Also it's so extremely awesome to know someone else who's on The Autism Spectrum as well and doesn't like the noise at Texas Roadhouse either. I have Autism tooo. I absolutely love meeting others who on the spectrum and understand what it's like
I have autism too and I enjoy that place. Loud noises there never really bothered me. Loud sounds bother me sometimes but this place is seemingly one I don’t constitute bothersome. I respect that you don’t like certain sounds. Dark, crowded, clapping, yelling, and music. Sounds like a concert.
I'm also autistic but I don't mind Texas Roadhouse at all. I also think the food is good. Nice to see a mascot video detailing Andy, who I've never heard of before seeing it.
This one time when I was a kid, I went to this trunk-or-treat, and there was this car there that I guess was sponsored by Texas Roadhouse because there was an Andy the armadillo mascot near the car that I got a picture with. They even gave me a gift card too.
This is a family favorite all the way to my great great grandma I am a 8 year old.
I don't recall my Texas Roadhouse ever playing their music too loud so that must be an issue with your local one. I'm on the Autism spectrum as well, and understand the issue as I have to wear earplugs whenever I play in the arcade at Dave and Buster's. I agree about the clapping and singing whenever it's someone's Birthday. There's a charm to it when it's my Birthday, but it can get annoying if you're there when it's someone else's.
Loved the video. I’m also on the autism spectrum and I love the Texas Roadhouse (I don’t mind the music or the line dancing staff). I go there every year for my birthday which BTW is today. In fact I’m on my way there right now.

I’m actually kinda surprised that the two Texas Roadhouse locations near me don’t have their Andy mascots out as often as the other ones do… maybe I don’t arrive on time for me to see him who knows. Lol

Fun Fact: Texas Roadhouse was not founded in Texas
Here's my story about the mascot:
So there's a Texas Roadhouse in my area and sometimes my grandpa and my grandpas friend would go there. When we were there, I would usually order the chicken tenders and French fries (I'm really picky at times so I got those), and let me tell you when I saw THAT THING. I cried. I mean don't judge me I was scared okay? Who knows, maybe ill revisit Andy Armadillo.
There's one singular art that I'm convinced they're trying to cover up. It seems like an older design, and the only evidence of its existence is one of the top google image results for "Andy the armadillo." It's from the Special Olympics Kentucky website (or sometimes facebook page) and it shows him leaning against an Object (in this case, likely edited to be the Special Olympics logo) with a cocky grin. I wouldn't be so convinced that this isn't just some random one-off art if it weren't for the fact that that design was my childhood-- It feels so much more *correct* than the design they use so much now. I don't understand why they would scrub the old design off the internet (other than it being furry bait), and I genuinely feel like I'm being gaslighted. I skimmed through your video to see if you had something about it somewhere in the history, but I didn't see the image I'm convinced is the version that they're trying to cover up. I'm still in the midst of my search, but so far I've seen painfully little to prove I'm not insane except for the one image from a Special Olympics event. Where did the special olympics designer for that event find that image? Why is it so ingrained into my memory? And why can't I find any other evidence to show it even *existed*?
It's pretty normal for food chains to cover up their mascot histories, but this one feels personal.

I've always wanted to visit Texas Roadhouse, but I have a very severe peanut allergy so I can't 😔
I think a lot of them have done away with the peanuts. Especially with people throwing them on the floor because it was a slipping hazard.

He said that the order of dressing goes as follows:
First, pants.
Second, gloves.
Third, body suit - which is the arms and shell or body.
Fourth, head. It straps onto the body.
Fifth is the bandana that covers where the head connects to the suit.
My local Texas Roadhouse is in my hometown, Sicklerville, New Jersey

I’ve never been to a Texas Roadhouse
I suppose it's somewhat odd, since most types of iguanas are more so tropical lizard and not really the iconic desert lizard, which sort of is the climate Texas is known for I suppose. Maybe horned lizard would have been more appropriate, considering the most common US species of this animal happens to be the "Texas horned lizard". I'd assume they went for iguanas because they are a more recognisable lizard for most, making branding and marketing easier.
My drummer said that the feet are put on second to last(the head is the final piece). He said the feet just slide over your shoes.

One day my sister took me and my brother to the zoo and while we’re driving I looked out the window and I saw a Texas roadhouse location and it was a big one and once I saw that they remind me of this video and they gave me Chuck E. Cheese vives when I saw the location

There is a Texas Roadhouse in my city but I never been there and didn’t know who and was since I’ve never visited the location mabye some day i will go to Texas Roadhouse and mabye even see Andy but I just never been to Texas Roadhouse and I didn’t know who Andy the armadillo was with the first time I’ve seen him being a image of a person in the costume without the head. Interestingly the bandana was attached to the head and not a separate piece but it’s likely the person tied the bandana to the head
