Dude is an absolute master. One of the true greats.
Best feel and phrasing in the game. Kind of crazy how irreplicable Sco’s style is, like Jeff Beck, incredibly unique signature
Hi 😉
I feel blessed for the opportunity to experience this. When I purchased the ticket months ago little did I knew I would be so close to Mr Scoffield. He had no band which actually worked out better for me as I really love solo guitar.
Most definitely, Sco is among my biggest guitar idols
And that, boys and girls, is how it's done. No one else has that feel. Just another 5 minutes of greatness pulled out of the hat. He's been pulling greatness out of the hat for so long now, it's almost incomprehensible...

we love you Sco❤
Never does this man not pull something interesting out of his guitar.
I second this.
John is truly one of My Favourite players He’s not into all the speed stuff He takes His time & makes music feel good 👍🏾👊🏾💽
There is a certain subtlety to his technique.
Nice to hear Sco using all the pickups. SO much tone in those hands. Love this, thanks for posting !
You are welcome. Please check out the channel, have other videos and shorts from this night.
So tastefully done🤟
A true master
My favorite guitarist
He is awesome
I love Sco's melodies.
Me 2
Me too.❤
Thanks for posting this. Sco is always bringing it when he plays. A true master
Will be uploading other videos. Hopefully the community can help me with the song tittles.

Been following John Scofield since "Out like a light" came out in 1983. A true unique voice.
A true fan indeed. I loved how he not only performed but also clearly enjoyed playing the guitar after all these years as a professional guitarist.
John is the Truth 👍🏾👊🏾💽
I loved this
Living legend.
Wow, dug that!
Never thought this song could be done so well on solo guitar. I think this is my favorite version of it. Thanks so much for sharing this with everyone. This is a treasure.
I have other videos which I will be uploading. Do not know the name of the songs in most of them though.
@@stratoalex Looking forward to it. We'll figure out what the songs are. Thank you!

I like John same reason I like Jeff Beck. It's not the technique; it's the swing, the taste, the funk, the notes they choose.
I saw Jeff Beck on Nov 9. Amazing experience.
Which is all done with a level of technique. I sure as hell can't play all those chords.

Little tribute to Frisell at the end?

Great Playing. 💥
Awesome. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing.
@@Musicmaker-Cologne you are welcome
Waarom heeft hij nu een baard, snap het niet..ken hem sinds "Rough House" met Dave Liebman spelend in café GEORGE JAZZ te Arnhem, Holland 1979.
Great. Thanks. Until great masters using looper. Is it for money or liberty?
the Looper is more so he can improvise lead lines over a sequence of chords. He also did tricks with it at the end of some songs.
Solo Sco! 👍
♥♥♥
Thanks for listening

Hey it's Music is Win in the comments.
This is great but I don't hear any twang.
😆the music in this video is not what I think about when someone mentions twang. Of course "Twang" is the name of the song. Why he named it that I do not know. Perhaps someone would chime in the comments?
Geaux ScO .
Ax yourself one question .
Are you pickin up what he's throwing down .
Can you elaborate?
'scuse me...
what do you mean?
this is so much better than that zoomer thumping crap
huh?
@@stratoalex polyphia.
@@stringsnare oh I see. I do enjoy all sorts of guitar playing. I was listening to their video with Steve Vai. Good stuff. Glad you like mr Scoffield's performance. Will gladly see him live again.
@@stratoalex its not good. art is not subjective. the guitar tones sound like tinny digital fishes swimming in a 1x1cm metal box. im not sure how it can be passed as great guitar tawn. the tawn is horrible. im also perplexed by the number of costume sweater changes. can you explain this to me?
@@stringsnare Sure. I will explain. You do not like it, other people do. . We love Mr Scoffield though 👍
current is latest album, country language articulation,is not it?
horizontally, vertically rocking melody let become him outmaster weird
I am not sure I should dare to say this-- But, Scofield has grown phenomenally since his first LP. Now players like Pat Metheny are like the Beatles, just natural born talent. With Scofield,it is not so. I know how hard he has worked and his dedication to BeBop!Bebop! Collaboration with Metheny is some of the hottest guitar work around! Why don't we hear more guitar duets. When two players can get their parts harmonize it doubles the sonic power of the guitar. The Harp stands equal to the Violin!
So Sco is not a natural talent? Hmmmm...... Can you be just a little more specific about that? He played with Billy Cobham and Dave Liebman in his 20’s and then Miles Davis a few years later. That’s more than almost anyone can achieve in a lifetime.
@@raymondkarlsson9794 I am just rapping about what my own ear heard. I liked parts and pieces of the early material. But I got the distinct impression that there was a lot of struggle with the instrument. And I still hear a lot of struggle in his playing but it is like a champion cowboy who has finally learned how to ride the wild horse. That is my honest impression. It is only in the recent years that Scofield comes across with the command of the instrument like Mc Laughlin,AL Di Meola , Jeff Beck and others. I hope you can understand what I am talking about.Even now there is still a hint of struggling with certain techniques like playing thirty second notes or 64 triplets.
@@stefanhall3219 He has spoken about being very clumsy and having difficulty when he was young - although to be honest I've not heard any evidence of that. He just isn't a technically focused player, which is not that uncommon in jazz. He did however record some rhythm changes in '89 at a very fast tempo where he is absolutely devastating, so I guess if by "natural talent" you mean technically gifted, then maybe not, but I've seen very few musicians, let alone guitarists who've had the command of playing difficult changes that he had at a fairly young age. Checkout 'Earthlings' or 'Life and Times' with B.C in '76 - pretty amazing one chord playing for a 25 year old. I can't think of another player that played in that style as well in '76, Metheny included.
IMO what makes him one of the best guitarists is that in his music often times is a little clumsy, (yet 100% recognizable with his style). then at some point he will casually throw in a pre written lick that will just blow your mind, not because its bebop or what have you but incredibly creative and unheard of. it just makes your brain light up.
@@raoul355 I never said that I didn't like Scofield's playing because I do! I am just surprised where he has taken it.Different players have different views about which way they can improve their playing. Many emphasize practicing scales and technic, but there is no substitute for getting together with other musicians and playing, playing, and playing! This is what Scofield has done. He has played with just about everybody on the planet!
Loop pedals may be good for street performers - not for real artists like Scofield. I think it brings him down.
Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear
he used it as a backing track to improvise lead lines over. In my opinion it is only a testament over the mastery and his versatility over the instrument.
Not interested in watching him get ready. Tuning, adjusting volume, again and again. Therefore didn't listen..Cheezus, should be all done.
I left that part to provide the full live performance feel. It was a great performance. You can skip ahead to where he starts playing, is actually a couple seconds after. Thanks for your feedback.
Don’t listen to that. I speak for many when I say we like to see it all.
I think you don‘t get it. The adjusting of volume is not „getting ready“, It’s part of his playing. It‘s called dynamic.
@@benjaminmoore985 I appreciate your time as well as everybody who clicked on the video. Thanks for your support.
@@frankmaass Watching Scott play was not only a great concert but a master class and motivation to keep learning and practicing.
Ridiculous..Eric Gales would make him shut up!
Wha? You just out of nowhere juxtaposed two radically different musicians, both geniuses. Great musicians never talk like this.
Music is an art, not a competition. Eric Gales is an amazing player that i hope I also get a chance to see live. Thanks for watching.
Sorry don’t like looper doop
heused it as backing track to solos
Looks like the club is closed.
I was very close to the stage.
