At Age 14 in 1964 when they~~~ The Beatles ~~~ arrived here for Ed Sullivan’s show I had no idea how music would change forever, no idea. I lived and loved it. At age 20 I stood in line at my college bookstore for The Abbey Road album; and as I walked my 4 blocks from campus to my apartment I remember feeling such joy that day. Life was good. 🎹🎹 🎉🎉😊

I seen some big stars live, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Prince, David Bowie, Rolling Stones.. but McCartney was the only time I saw a "star" and immediately started to cry. I remember thinking "he was the partner of John Lennon" and there was no coming closer to my all time hero than seeing McCartney. I didn't even really care what songs he played that night. Just getting to see him in the flesh was worth the ticket.
I was there, too - from Australia - and had a Duncan Fernley cricket bat shoved down my trouser leg (for obvious reasons). Forgot that Paul buggered-up the lyrics a coupla times.
I love John Lennon but I will never love him with the depth that Paul does. How couldI? Paul was his friend. I only got the chance to speak with Paul once and all I could think to say was “God bless you Paul.” He replied “Thank you, thank you very much” and gave me two thumbs up. I saw Paul in 90 and he did the Lennon Medley which was awesome. It is nice to hear these songs done live. Pity Lennon never had the chance to revisit them himself.
Every Beatles fan needs to hear this. Paul sounds great singing John's songs. It feels very sincere and loving. I wouldn't mind if he did some studio re-makes or re-interpretations of John Lennon songs. We did not get enough Lennon. But that's not song writing but advice... but he was correct.. that line kind of makes the song deeper... a lot of it we will never know exactly. Their arrangement was smart though because it helped them keep a monopoly in the group and it was a brand name like Rogers and Hart... It was intelligent of them to foresee the value of their arrangement... It also helped them benefit from getting paid when tastes leaned towards Lennon's work as in the 70's and 80s and then when later criticism favored Macca... I view them as equals with different tendencies but the Idea was brilliant on their part... and showed the trust and respect they had for each other...

If you reverted to Lennon-McCartney on those but switched it on clearly McCartney songs it then makes it look like Lennon mostly wrote the 50/50 songs. Having a standard format avoids all of that and doesn’t weight the credit towards either writer.

I saw this line up in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993 and they were amazing. I wouldn't take anything for the memories that night...definitely one I will never forget. The band Paul has now is awesome and I think probably one of the very best he's ever had. ROCK ON PAUL! I LOVE U!
LOVE IT. I heard it for the first time 27 years ago today at the Knebworth Concert, on 6/30/90. It still gives me tears, goosebumps and joy. A very touching tribute to a man that we both miss.

Thank you for that appropriate reminder. Did you know? At the beginning of "Come Together," when John makes the "shh" sound, he was actually saying "shoot me." I don't know if that influenced that scumbag (don't want to even say it's name) who shot John, but it's just kind of bizarre to know.

I was there for this, the first time I saw Paul. When everyone carried on singing 'Give Peace A Chance' after Paul had stopped was one of those moments I'll always remember!

Hah, Paul messes up the lyric at 3:28. A fitting tribute, because John used to forget lyrics all the time. It may be partly why he didn't like playing live.
I saw this line up in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993 and they were amazing. I wouldn't take anything for the memories that night...definitely one I will never forget. The band Paul has now is awesome and I think probably one of the very best he's ever had. ROCK ON PAUL! I LOVE U!

LOVE IT. I heard it for the first time 27 years ago today at the Knebworth Concert, on 6/30/90. It still gives me tears, goosebumps and joy. A very touching tribute to a man that we both miss.
Macca loved John. John loved Macca. Nothing can ever change that. Together they were a force we will never see repeated in the world of popular music. Nothing else needs saying.

Perhaps Paul’s most touching tribute to John was forgetting some of the lyrics… as surely John would have done 😂. I feel like John was there. Love that he’s brought some of those back for his subsequent tours.

This is just wonderful. If there's anyone out there that deserves the most to make a John Lennon tribute it's definitely Paul McCartney, and I think his song choices were fantastic too! Long live The Beatles and R.I.P. John and George too =]

Imagine getting to rehearse with Paul Mccartney for weeks on end to perform something like this live. Just gives me chills, hopefully the performers don't take it for granted.

Good for you, Shawn Jones. I have followed the Beatles since 1963 yes, 1963 had She Loves You on Swan Records in the States. Billboard had small ads from Capitol Records teasing the readers saying The Beatles are Coming, with a faceless Beatle-wig drawing within each ad which all were small 2x2 ads. Have read, listened to, played so MUCH Beatle-stuff that I "got to know" their personalities very well...contd...

The group was The Beatles,not the Lennons or the McCartneys. I love hearing Paul sing more of the songs that John did the lead on. All these people that try to pit them against each other or give more credit to one than the other are missing the point. They were in a group. Together. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts-or however that phrase goes. They all made the music better.
It makes me sad when people try to pit them against each other. The four Fabs together were true magic!

It shows what a great voice John had. It was unique and the songs aren’t the same when sung by someone else
If John wanted anyone else singing his songs, it'd be Paul. If Paul wanted anyone else to sing his songs, it'd be John.
Much of what people think they like about John's voice is really that "halo" that George Martin's production added to it.

@@TheSanityInspector I’m not sure I think his voice sounds great on the countless demo tapes and raw cuts that exist. John hated his own voice and would ask George Martin to add some echo or double tracking etc to make it sound better but it didn’t need that in reality. Listen to him on his solo track Mother. Absolutely terrific.

It's amazing that something as simple as writing songs could be so important to the world. They just happened to be the best at it.
Again... if you don't like Paul, or the Beatles or prefer "wwezyy or drack" go listen to them on their sites and dont come on these sites and upset people that enjoy these sites. I grew up with the Beatles, enjoy this music and miss John, who we lost so horribly, and George, who we lost horribly. Go someplace else dawg. or GIVE PEACE A CHANCE! I am crying....do you hear the crowd after Paul stops still singing?
