- This is a small tribute to the Wigan Casino Club. Most of the footage is from the "In The Club" from ITV. I just thought that I would give it a small reworking because I was bored :(

Happy days and nights, what a place to be part of!
At lot of us old Skinheads from the 60s massively followed the Northern Soul scene. We were fantastic dancers and just done our thing.. After a Saturday afternoon follwing Chelsea up north, this was a fantasic night- morning. Keep them feet moving.. Wether Stoke or Wigan great nights out.
I loved these times, and think perhaps they were some of the best in my life. I am dancing at 2.03 in red waistcoat behind man in red striped shirt............ there were drugs and drug dealing, but also wonderful and deep friendships and comradeship with people all over England, some of which I still know now I am over 50! I love to listen to Northern Soul on my i-pod as I travel the world. KTF.

My uncles and my aunty and my mum went to the Casino,they have amazing mesmerizing fantastic tails about the place.West Lancs northern soul.
I wa just sweet 13 when I had my first introduction to Northern Soul at The Samson & Hercules and it's just great to see dishy Norwich Soul Boy Billy Wizz showing us all how to do those legendary Spins in his white rigout (159 ish then yet again as the man in black (2.59) - Wow! How cool & how hot can ya get! Loving it from a Soul Gal from Norfolk who's still Keeping the FAITH! :) XxX

Great memories from an iconic club thanks for your post....i first went when Betty Wright was on she was superb but seeing Jackie Wilson in that skintight leather suit was mindblowing....i didnt take gear either a lot of my mates did Prison time for dealing inc Bob Burton my old army mate he got 7years in Durham....Brownie from Skipton was weak regarding drugs and o/d and died. I ended up the R.A.F. Marathon Champion....not braggin just to indicate drugs are not cool and im still spinning at 54!

I'm spinning on the left hand side dressed in white at 4.34. I was about 18 then, now I'm 51 and still spinning.
My early years in Wigan casino with my older brother will stay with me , Glad i grew up in Aspull.

I still do a bit now. we cant let this musical art die out teach it ya kids grandkids etc proper instruments pounding rythms. Hope this new film comin out cuts it for any who may want to be a bit different. Justin b 1 Direction Wanted earn ya fabricated fame then take a listen to real singers who sung about heartbreak poverty and proper LOVE and they didn't get a penny for any of it. Now thats wat ya call a raw deal. it shows in there voices bless em all. x

@sundodger69 I seem to remember some years ago that the whole floor in a Wigan Hairdressers was done out with pieces of the Casino dancefloor.

Just put the clip on my facebook hope you don´t mind..The first night it opened was 2 weeks after my 18th birthday and it was like another birthday,Christmas,Easter,Summer holidays and my first F--- all rolled into one amazing night.God I loved it.Lots of wonderful memories.Anybody ever get to the Vavas at Bolton?At that time life was hard Vavas Friday,Mecca Saturday evening,Wigan at night and swimming like a shark in the baths after OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great nostalgia!!!....and im still spinning and im 56 on the 12th March. Im off to Soul in Sun in April for my next fix after watchin the Vibrations at the resurgence of the legendary Prestatyn.Iv lost a few friends since i used to queue up at the Casino and some have taken on the pipe and slippers...namely a.k.a. P funk in the footage Dave Ward.... real name being one ha!ha! sorry Dave but how can you just put this memorable youth behind you and forget about it?flares.?.sorry Spencer Soul bags
@jahvoke ABSOLUTELY Spot On observation and comment! The NS scene to my now 40 year memory embraced any and all irrespective of race, colour or creed. It was 'our scene' however the divs with cameras, etc, was a no no. Coping with the odd DS 'friendly' trying to mingle in while standing out like a bulldogs bollocks was bad enough. The kids on the scene didn't crave for it to be 'big' we just wanted it for ourselves and that's what's maintained it to date - nice one jahvoke!!

fantastic footage... i went 1980 ,,,those allegations of us taking drugs when we went all nighters,,,were totally unfounded,,we chewed gum to keep our breath fresh and BLOCKING all allegations of drug misuse by drinking large amounts of coffee which made our pupils dialate ,,no booz just soft drinks ,we had time of our lives,great video.micky

@AndrewEllis1961 get yerself up blackpool for the may weekender, I was a mere babe back in the day so never got to go to these iconic places so had to make do with school , youth club and village hall discos, but am getting to the reunions as nowhere can touch this music and vibe even second time around !

There was never a more smelly old toilet like the wigan casino.That place represented everything that is wrong with life : It made an idol out of love which is a gift from our loving heavenly father Jehovah God. Mercifully it was completely destroyed in the early 80ts.
