I think Turo needs to ramp up their ads and TV commercials. The idea of Turo is definitely still in its infancy.
Fr. I only have heard of turo since a few weeks ago. I’m looking to rent a car and it seems much cheaper compared to traditional rental companies.
No they are good cause the other ones ask for deposits. Turo you just pay the daily n fees per day including the protection you choose.
If they have to compete our prices will go up n they might start to ask for deposits. I was able to rent a car from them because they didn't ask for deposits. So I highly doubt that they need to compete. They been around for a while. I haven't picked up my car yet and I'm already in love with it.
I went to California towards the end of 2020 and went with the traditional rental services, paid $750 for a 3 day rental for what I thought was gonna be an Escalade , and they gave me a 4Runner , Never Again , I will only use Turo for life
Bahaha. It's a huge scam. Many times these stores don't even have the car on their lot. They just offer it to sucker you in. Once you show up, what are you going to do canx? Highly unlikely.
@@LynxStarAuto call Turo 🚗🏎️🏍️🛩️
Competition is good. Uber will help promote Turo indirectly
This is exactly why i offer my own valet services to my customers on Turo. I literally pick them up at the terminal. They love it. Obviously i charge a fee but to most its worth it.
I just started on Turo. Can you explain how you do that?
We also just started on Turo and the airport police goes around trying to give tickets to Turo host making a transaction at the airport.🤷🏾♂️ Have you had any issues at the airport?
@@ignaciosanchez833 have you tried literally picking them up and swapping once you’re outside the terminals?
@@jayslim4 not myself, but there is other host in my area I’ve seen do this. They pick them up at the terminal and take them to the cell phone lot to finish the transition.
@@ignaciosanchez833 thank God I have not. I also am not sitting at the terminal for long. I make it as quick as possible.
I always appreciate your gems sister. Peace and Love NYC...
Thank you for all the information my friends and I here on maui love to watch your videos
Always providing us with the latest info!! Thanks Saimah!! Im assuming though that with the already inflated prices of the tradtional car rental companies this will push it even higher?
Very good analysis and well spoken! Your videos are very informative I must say. 👏🏼
I just got started in the game with 3 cars hopefully turo win this battle
Valid points. I think it’ll encourage the car rental space as a whole and broaden marketing towards it. However, Uber is just serving as an affiliate for these traditional car rental companies. The price points will differ immensely. As you mentioned, I think people will off to rent a luxury or newer model car from Turo rather than the basic vehicle for the same price point from Uber.
Most of the time I have used Uber was to get to my Turo vehicle. LOL
Wow that is going to finally give Turo a real competitor
NOT REALLY.. more of a priceline competitor
No.
Actually I do think it will because look at some other videos she has done people don't necessarily want the loaded out 6 series convertible and she did really bad with it but a basic 3 series rents all the time, I am a person who rents for specific cars and trims but I honestly think the majority of people don't care and shop on convenience and price and availability so it could be something to watch out for on that front because Uber has such a huge customer base and they are giving rewards and it just melds into their own already established community and user base
@@adamp2384 ^ this comment couldn’t be more correct, renting luxury cars can make money but I believe the same people sometimes just need a ride and don’t care about a fancy vehicle, structure a professional business on the App stand out from others and you can have 5 basic cars and they will be rented out everyday 👍
I like Uber to rent & I want to rent out my 2018 Nissan Altima SL w/ 104,807 miles on it now. I'm making $2,000 a week as an Uber driver in Virginia, D.C., Maryland area! I just got $8,350 PPP loan from Womply & plan to pay off my car loan to purchase a minivan to make more income with Uber XL then rent out my 2018 Nissan Altima SL with either Uber or Turo which ever pays best. Love to make money from my current Nissan!!! Great video!!! You got my creative money making juices flowing!!!
how you gon proced to rent your nissan altima with uber? i want to know more about this process sir
Turo is fine when you can't get a good rate on a regular rental car. It's easy to rent and depending on the situation, it can be cheaper. In general, though I find car rentals overall cheaper. You can use coupons and promotions with them. A lot of times they have weekend and weekly rates. You to be lucky and hope they're doing a promotion with Turo. The cars are usually much newer. One thing I like better about Turo is more flexibility on insurance coverage. Another problem with Turo is depending on where you live you might not be able to get a replacement car if there are issues
I think the city\place will greatly determine whether this is a direct competitor for Turo.
Maybe Turo might do a taxi service like Uber
Fascinating
Airbnb should partner with turo then!
This is not new... uber is basically acting as a shell for the car rental companies. Nothing different than what EXPEDIA, PRICELINE OR TRAVELOCITY do.
Exactly, more like a referral partner for rental car companies not a competitor to turo
@@essentialoilsme Exactly.
I got into turo because u we wouldn't let me drive for them, I'm good with Turo🙌🏾🙌🏾
Dido
Change is the only guarantee .... Since the pandemic Uber & Lyft are too pricy, so I’m sure their rides are drastically down.
I'll smash uber's rental prices. Bring it!
Smash $150 a week with perks unlimited miles and no fees you have to be scared of after returning the car. Good luck lol
@@ExquisiteBossin This is EXACTLY why MAJOR rental car companies will always WIN. Just the advantage of UNLIMITED MILES alone is enough for me to choose AVIS over turo. MAJOR rental companies won't nickle and dime you for every single thing.
@@murse_life Real Facts! I've analyzed Turo for years before getting started. There's just no comparison to the traditional car rental companies and the simplicity behind booking it without any headache of a variety of other factors. I host Turo and will only rent with Turo if it's a specialty vehicle.
Imagine paying $150 to have a 2005 YARIS delivered to you. 😂😂
@@ExquisiteBossin hahaha EXACTLY! Thank you, finally someone that understands.
@@murse_life I rent out cars for cheaper than any rental car company. $18-$20 per day, unlimited miles. Will beat any price.
Is this an a commercial for Uber?
I would say, if AIRBNB would launch a Turo-like platform it would be far more competitive, since would be easier to rent a place and car at the same place, and maybe the even get a deal out of the combo 🤷🏻♂️
As a Airbnb host I am already adding this option for my guest but it would be a lot easier if it were one seamless transaction
@@jayslim4 I have wanted to do this too. Would you share if it has improved your Airbnb experience for your guests?
Let's all be honest. Turo is only good for speciality vehicles that traditional car rental companies don't have an option of renting. Yes the traditional companies are charging high right now. But when it stabilizes there is no doubt they will go back to offering the best value when it comes to daily driver vehicle rentals. No airport delivery fees, no miscellaneous after trip fees, 2020-2021 vehicles at $150 a week, unlimited miles, etc. Nobody wants to rent your 2007 Yaris for $50 a day with a mileage cap.
This is false. Rental companies have far more over head and their cars are trash and you can’t even rent under 25.
What’s anyone thoughts on using Can-Am rentals through Turo?
How are the repair bills after yiu know crazy renters like to speed and hit bumps at your expense - what’s the repairs like - yiu always have the answer to the question
The real threat is when Uber decides to allow drivers to host cars like turo
i don't really understand english but can i host my car on uber?
My thoughts are that Uber is gonna charge the customers more for these services if they were to be a valet to pick them up and drop them off to their rental cars. I do see customers using the valet to take them to the turo rentals, but outside of all that I don’t see much of a threat from Uber when car rentals are expensive for basic model cars when u can get a better car from a turo host.
Hopfully the ap is layered use, and you can use uber to rent a rental, then make a profit doing rides with said rental that is more modern and at a premium, or in 4x4 season.
I think competition is generally good. HOPEFULLY it will put Turo on thier toes and make them value thier Super Hosts much more! I feel confident us Super Hosts with exceptional unique cars and personal service blow away the “big car rental” companys! I know with my delivery option, my customers get speedy terminal pickup with no long waits at the car rental counters! Customers rent from the owner and not some low wage unhappy employee that really don’t care about the customer in most (note all) cases! My customer with my 3 cars are ALWAYS 5 star blown away happy for over 3 years now without exception! NO traditional car rental company has even close to that customer satisfaction! Make Turo sweat a little and get more aggressive to compete and acquire more customers. We shall see.
Uber Is Gonna Buy Out Turo Soon I Bet!
Uber has a lot of debt and negative earnings. They can't afford Turo who will be IPO soon.
This really isn't Turo vs Uber. This is more like Uber vs Expedia or Kayak. If Uber started a service like Getaround or acquired Getaround it would be more of a direct competitor to Turo.
"As of 2021, Uber Net Worth is $15 Billion" (wepublishnews). "In July 2019, the American holding company IAC invested $250 million in Turo, a deal that valued the company at more than $1 billion." (Wikipedia).
Did you form a separate entity for your Turo fleets? or are you running the fleets under your personal name ?
I really want to buy a car to rent on Turo, but they just don't make an effort to get their name out nation wide. Host's can't rely on Turo to promote the brand. I look at Turo rentals around me and the numbers just aren't there to entice someone to become a host.
Buy you some cheap cars. That's $900 to $1200 plus per month per car.
Uber and traditional car rental companies prices are traditionally high even for basic vehicles, turo has a wide variety of cars offered at a wide variety of prices. I think competition forces competition and the traditional car rental prices will go down and turos prices will go up. They will balance each other out
basically turo hosts may be in danger
What are your thoughts about Uber's app possibly going to push the prices of the car down? That'd suck..
I’ve been renting from Uber for months lol thought it was already a thing
So you can only rent a Uber if you flying in from somewhere? Also I thought it was only to do it for Uber eats or to drive for Uber.
Doesn’t this also mean that these revenue losing rental car companies now have to split commissions with UBER, leaving them with even less revenue? Could be a sneaky way for UBER to swoop in and save *cough* acquire them
Is Lyft next?
Rental car companies didn’t have enough cars before UBER got involved LOL this won’t work at all!
True
We follow all these companies from start up to IPO… I don’t believe Uber will be able to penetrate the market share that Turo has as of now… Uber does have the resources to make key acquisitions of Turo’s competitors…. I love Underdogs and I love IAC companies…
So you don’t have to drive for them to rent a vehicle finally
I just hope that Uber doesn’t try to buy out Turo and ruin it for everybody. I think the entire Uber company is trash and Turo is gold 👌🏻
👍 Turo and Uber 👎🏽
just checked out the uber rental options... its more of a competitor to PriceLine than to turo.. the rates through uber are also raised for their cut.. i think any smart shopper would just go to rental directly, and cut them out. or stick to turo for the personal touch of a professional host.. - 6 year uber/lyft driver
This 🙌🏿
Doesn’t Lyft also offer car rentals? There selection is very limited. Last I checked they only offer basic Mazda vehicles. I don’t imagine Uber to be very different
Sorry I’m in South Florida what is PCH ?
Pacific Coast highway - right along the ocean 🌊
Attaching own car in any ride hailing platform is a foolish job. Instead one should buy car, get taxi permit from RTO and wait for passenger on road side, near hospital, school, railway station, etc. Taxi driver could not entertain to any broker 😎😎😎😎
Face is very exotic and pretty..like a true cartoon character.
Well supposedly they finally will get me a car next week from uber. Been reserved since April.
My Jeep Wrangler and other specialty cars should be ok 🚗
Very good promote for Turo, if people don’t know they will think your family own turo, or maybe you are the big boss in turo. Hahaha
Interesting... Obviously, as Turo hosts, what we have to worry about is them giving drivers the option to rent their cars instead of driving them. That would flood the market.
Some people like unlimited miles. I travel with little planning, and may decide to drive across 2 states on a whim.
Do you use your Business name on Turo or your own name
The tie-up with traditional car rental companies could be just the first step.
Uber also has a lot of data about the vehicles owned by their independent contractors and how often they're currently driven on the platform. A good percentage of vehicles registered with Uber are only driven a day or two a week for profit, and maybe even less. And some of them are fairly new, fairly nice, well-maintained vehicles. What if Uber started pinging existing driver/owners with a message like...
"Not driving your 2019 Camry this week? Earn $45/day for the next 4 days by renting it to another driver. Mileage caps and Uber insurance apply. Click here to accept."
Uber could eat Turo's lunch with 4-door vehicles in the first year. All they'd have to do is allow coupes onto the platform for rental purposes, and they're suddenly a full-on Turo as one of their many lines of business.
Fortunately for existing Turo partners, there's nothing stopping anyone from listing cars on multiple platforms should such a series of events unfold.
Uber valet gonna be so complicated
We have two cars on Turo and are going on vacation. We would love it if Turo had a valet option that we could use while we are gone.
Uber has never had any drivers, drivers bring their cars and their labor to the platform. Unless of course you're acknowledging that they are employees and not independent contractors.
Turo will only be worth on the Luxury/sports cars that are not usually offer on other platforms such enterprise, etc etc
Including electric cars
The hosts still aren’t making the same as the ones with 50k and above vehicles on turo based on the new payment schedules. Honda’s and Toyota’s don’t makes the same percentages as Cadillac and Mercedes because turo set a schedule to reward the higher end cars and penalize the regular vehicle hosts.
Exactly!
Do you create your own priced per day with Turo ?
Yeah
What car should I get for my first fleet car on turo? tsla? camry? bmw? and should I lease it? ofcourse no money down

Nissan Altima $160 a day on Uber an ALTIMA sooo TURO is still the playyyyy
Right now.......Car rental companies have a shortage in vehicles so renters will come to Turo........I think that it would have been smart for Uber to partner with Turo
Bottom feeders will go for this idea, people who want more, get more.
I believe this is nothing but Ubers way of circumventing that AB5 law. Instead of hiring drivers as employees, lets just cut out the middle man and rent the entire car. Avis an Hertz have been struggling, they sold most of their fleet to stay a float, thats the reason for the inflated rates. This is simply killing 2 birds with 1 stone
uber valet sounds amazing
Yeah, fuck all that
What do you think of this Turo Exclusivity Policy? When you list a vehicle on Turo, you’re agreeing to share it only on Turo. You may not list a vehicle that’s currently listed on any other car sharing platform. Once you list your vehicle on Turo, you may not list it on any other car sharing platform. Couldn't this damage Turo business if we have to choose?
I have no problem with loyalty to a platform that's hassle free.
I would say that Uber will effect host on turo who offer the same cars as the traditional rental company’s. One is uber has trip fees VS the traditional rental car company’s do not. second when renting from a traditional rental card company your credit card covers damages at no cost to you and if not the cost of coverage Thru the company is around $8-$14 a day which is significantly cheaper then turo. VS turo your credit card company does not cover damage and protection fee be extremely high. Third no rental company charges to wash the car VS turo you must bring the car back wash. Fourth there a good chance mileage is unlimited in a traditional rental company VS turo it’s rare to find unlimited mileage and if there is it comes at a traditional fee.
Turo biggest advantage is having cars that you won’t find in your traditional rental company such as BMW full M cars , Mercedes-Benz AMG cars , Audi RS model and Porsche turbo and GT models and also a good chance you can get a car that’s fully tinted.
Lots of rental cars charge extra miles and sub fees for doing extra miles.
They're partnering with companies that have lost a lot of money to turo. That's scary lol
No because it's not really actually uber car rental they're just basically going to do what they've been doing in working with Avis and Hertz
Wow, this is a big deal!
Car rental prices are Too high and Uber cutting in will be higher. They're throwing a hail mary!
agreed, and if true, that just makes turo more attractive option
That is about the rudest thing Uber could do to it's drivers. Turo has built a business, and bent to every change needed, without squandering into other business angles. If Uber can do this, every bar or alcohol licensed resturaunt should have their OWN Uber profile BY LAW so anyone over 2 drinks, pays to avoid or take an uber home. Why wait until intoxicated to make that decision, after dosing alcohol to their patron? And yeah, an intoxicated rider should be a premium for the driver, assisted by the alcohol licensed establishment.
Don't really care why can't beat them join em 🤷 I started my own car rental business lol
Still gonna cost you 80 a day for an economy car.....
I don't think Uber can compete
I really like this uber valet idea. Turo should just come up with a catchy jingle and new name. I remember our first Turo trip in New Orleans. We walked 30min through some sketchy part of town to get keys from a mailbox.🤔 The tought of maybe this is not the smartest idea popped into my head maybe once or twice.😁 Now as a host we meet people face to face in an ideal situation and we try not going to airport because it's far and airport police is harassing Turo people. So, yes. Turo please figure out how you can help us take better care of our customers.
Yeah well turo just lost me I've taken four trips with them in the past I tried to book them for a week out or so I just wanted a one-day rental. There was a new $15 trip charge. I'm not going to pay that. And I bet that the host does not get any of that money. It made it cheaper to go to Enterprise
Oh yeah and I googled this fee and it looked like it was for people under 25. Meanwhile I'm in my 50s.
The big box rental companies don’t have the variety of vehicles that turo does. If you don’t need to try different models of cars or have them at your disposal then enterprise is for you.
So you switching over to Uber car rental
Uber should also partner with Turo and bring guests to pick up our cars!
Naw. UBER CANT DO NOTHING RIGHT. NO WOERIES .
I've noticed your price increases and I have a feeling you are going to get crushed. The market around you is saturated with equal or premium model cars for half the price and twice the miles. Your convertible c8 corvette for example. They are ALL brand new right now. How dare you try and make the payment and profit in a single week. Did you even bother to look at the other ones around you? As usual it's the base convertible and an extortionate rate with barely enough miles per day to drive to lunch and back to your house.
Uber is being greedy. They're already making billions.😎
Uber and Lyfr are done. No drivers
Uber has never come close to making a profit.
Not in profit
Uber is the worst company in the world!!!
Nobody has heard of Turo. Everyone knows Uber. Turo is dead long live uber
I don’t think Turo is dead Andres. I think Turo will always be here. Like Airbnb. What will happen is increased regulation. That’s what they did with Airbnb. Uber will never be able to compete with Turo on quality or price of vehicles. They are simply acting as middlemen. Same way cheapoair and kayak are for airline companies. Everyone knows it’s always more economical and better to book directly through the airline. Why do you think Southwest Airlines is able to keep fares so low? Because they only book flights through their platform. Less advertising expenses. Same thing will happen with Turo. The client base that is aware they are getting a premium vehicle for a much better value through Turo hosts will continue to take advantage of that. These companies are capturing different segments of the market. Very little overlap. Not worried about Uber at all 😂. This is coming from a part time Uber Driver btw 😁
@Andres Borges what are you smoking
Uber will promote turo on purpose just by competing with them.
@@Mr-C-Codes exactly
