Not trying to be critical, but from 3:42 - 3:51 I think there was an editing mistake(unless its on my end), you repeat yourself in this time window. Love the vids!
Dear geetsly's (or anyone else), I have been wondering, what would happen if general grievous DIED in the reck dooku set up? Would there would be no one to lead the droid army? Would palpatine get caught?
The Republic was pretty much dead long before that. I mean Palpatine certainly murdered it, but the Republic was already diseased. Palpatine put it out of it's misery. He wasn't lying about the corruption in the Senate.
Demilitarization was one of the biggest mistakes the republic could make. I can't even imagine how terrible the war with the Sith was for the Republic to practically become a pacifist.
Demilitarization is one of the biggest mistakes ANY self respecting government could possibly make: it's political suicide at best, and asking for invasion at worst.
There was also a semi-official military unit called the Antarian Rangers who were a sort of light infantry that aided the Jedi in partiuclar in their conflicts. They would even remain in sevice until the end of the Clone Wars when like the Jedi they would be hunted down by the Empire.
IMHO the Judicial Fleet should've been exempt from the ship restrictions of the Ruusan Reformation. That would have been a more stable system with a professional core fleet of large powerful ships, fitted with the fastest hyperdrives that were reliable (no Millenium Falcon style mods that break down), 1.0 or even 0.8 -.07. Their purpose would have been to be a rapid reaction fleet (hence the _fast_ hyperdrives) that could outgun anything else and be at a problem area in a short amount of time whenever a PDF gets in trouble. Keep them stationed at major hyperspace junctions and any Pirates or Warlords (or planetary conflicts) risk having effectively _Star Destroyers with turbos_ jump in on them at any minute. Something maybe like the Venator, perhaps with a few differences, would have kept a lid on the situation and prevented the circumstances that caused the Clone Wars to be possible. The design could be refined as the Venator was a rushed job. But before the Clone Wars, it would have been a Pirates nightmare and kept order in the Outer Rim. If the Judicial Fleet could have been kept free of corruption and been competent, it could have even kept the Hutts in line.
They had planetary security forces that sole purpose was to protect systems or planets from minor threats like pirates or bandits. On paper the Planetary Security was all that was needed to protect the Republic’s Space, but practicality the Planetary Security we’re spread out too thin, and as pointed out by this video they had corruption and vary technology across the Galaxy. Though maybe the Planetary Defense Forces could have been pooled together to form a massive army if govern correctly, but the Sith influence was already effecting several Planetary Defense Forces, and by the point of the Naboo Blockade the Republic could not protect itself.
Can you do a second clone ranks explained, but much simpler? Like, just start at the lowest rank and start climbing to the top. ex: private, seargent, captain, major
“As the region was fairly safe from piracy and the dangers of that time” Next line:”As the region was fairly safe from piracy and the dangers of the time”. Me: Wait a minute, how did this happen?
Was fairly safe from piracy and dangers of that time. Was fairly safe from piracy and dangers of that time. 3:50 half the time i watch these i feel like I'm having a stroke
What if Palpatine and the Sith had been killed off before they could start their shenanigans? (or the Jedi managed to bump off the current two Sith through a lucky break some time before)… Plagues and Palpatine have a shuttle crash whatever. Then without the whole CIS manipulation and the Clone Wars, what would've happened with the Republic's military and political evolution? Would the Republic get it's act together? Would the Jedi get off their asses and help stem the corruption endemic through the system? Would they start cracking down on slavery and the large criminal groups that were instead left to individual Jedi Knights going off on adventures, instead of organised operations. Or would it have just continued to slowly fall apart?
The fall of the Soviet union probably most likely to happen the republic will break apart into smaller nations systems and worlds will Unite What form of government they take all depends on the planet Really
So I've always wondered this, in the time of the old republic they used soldiers and droids, why did they start to lean towards more sentient creatures as soldiers then just cheap and effective droids
Can anyone give me the sauce on that image of the togruta at a high class party I couldn't find it myself. Playing a star wars 5e game and my dm could easily use that image and I would like to find the original.
So, when the Old Republic does it in Legends, it's a Watsonian issue at best, but when the New Republic does it in Canon, it's a Doylist issue that proves how little the writers care?
How did they manage after getting them? One million bad shots to manage a galactic empire big enough to be facing the secession of "tens of thousands" of systems (as Christopher Lee says)? They wouldn't be enough to collect parking fines!
752 people have thumb up or down this video but 6.3k have watched it. The problem is that on smart TVs you don't have a feedback option, sort it out smart TV app providers this is ridiculous
Clones > Any soldier. discord.gg/geetslys
Geetsly's except for Fox. I would say he should go do maintenance duty on Kamino, but then that would disgrace the memory of 99, a true soldier
Wait what about the republic troopers havoc squad they can literally go up against a force user

Hi there :)
Dear geetsly's (or anyone else),
I have been wondering, what would happen if general grievous DIED in the reck dooku set up? Would there would be no one to lead the droid army? Would palpatine get caught?
The Republic died as soon as Palpatine became chancellor
Pretty much
with a thunderous applause
It’s treason then......
*insert screaming with awesome spin move*
The Republic was pretty much dead long before that. I mean Palpatine certainly murdered it, but the Republic was already diseased. Palpatine put it out of it's misery. He wasn't lying about the corruption in the Senate.
It amazes me a galactic republic thought it could rule so many systems without a proper military.
I would honestly like to hear more about how the old Republic operated and what carried over into the GAR Clone forces when the Clone Wars broke out.
Really that’s a good question thanks for the vid
no problem, the channel focuses more on the unique things about star wars rather than the generic things
@@geetslys While clones were good, Jace Malcom and the kind of troops that could go toe-to-toe with Sith were better.
@@geetslys that's one of the things I appreciate about your channel. Some of the other ones just rely on click bait. Keep up the good work man 👍✌️
Try The New Sith Wars
2000 BBY to 1000 BBY
Demilitarization was one of the biggest mistakes the republic could make. I can't even imagine how terrible the war with the Sith was for the Republic to practically become a pacifist.
vitor kennedy It's not a matter of pacifism, it's a matter of decentralization.
Demilitarization is one of the biggest mistakes ANY self respecting government could possibly make: it's political suicide at best, and asking for invasion at worst.

The new sith wars is an era I wish was covered so much more before Disney took over man. Such a unique and insane era
Yeah I agree totally lol
An era where people used fuckin hoplites in space
Sounds badass man!
I believe it was the Judicial Taskforce and PDFs(Planetary Defense Forces),but it was probably more than that
I’ve learned something New Today. Amazing Video and Great content. 👍
Thanks for watching

I like most universes factions keep a military even when it’s not the dominant driving force of said faction
This man is so smart, give him a medal and 10 mil subs for what he's already done!
I’m not first, I’m not last, but when Geetlsy’s uploads, my fingers are fast
Hey Geetsly’s! Happy New Year!
When someone asks me a question about the galactic republic: Attention, sergeant on deck!
This is Canon for me!

Hey Geetsly’s you should do how Waxer was so defective!
Great video mate!! Look forward to more!
I liked it! Good Coverage!
So I've always wondered this, in the time of the old republic they used soldiers and droids, why did they start to lean towards more sentient creatures as soldiers then just cheap and effective droids
Droid rebellions.
Caused a lot of mistrust and hate towards droids. Especially combat droids.

Was the image of Jor El meant to be General Zod? Played by Terrance Stamp = Valorum.
Reply ur fav clone (I have nothing to do so I want to know ur fav clone) mine is Jesse or Rex
Rex but 2nd is Wolffe b/c 104th

Musicube Captain Fordo, for sheer badassery. Also 99 is very high on my list, a true trooper
Same as what Geetlsy said
Gotta go with Rex
The Senate protected the Republic.
Protect itself by leaving a massive ring of salt around hutt space
The region was very safe in that time, as the region was safe at that time.
