Yes, and today he didn't receive an Oscar nomination for First Reformed. The Academy wants actors/actresses who draw attention to themselves in their performances. It's a true shame because Ethan is at the height of his acting skills.
He is so devoted to his craft. Always talks about acting and the theater with such love and passion. One of the many reasons to love him.
He is one of my favourite actors because he left the Hollywood bullshit behind and starred in films he cares about. I remember him in Good Kill, which I recommend everyone see's it. Its not the jingoistic crap about the Afghan war that currently coming out now, takes a serious look at the emotional impact, Drone warfare has on a F14 pilot who is transfered to Las Vegas to become a drone pilot. It is really that good
Honestly one of the most underrated actor in Hollywood.

My family ran a little restaurant in a small town called Green Wood. Ethan was filming a movie called Snow Falling on Cedars and he probably took a picture with every person in town. He was a class act then and he's still one now! tip of the hat sir
I loved that movie! And I will always love Ethan!
One of my favorite actors of all time. Saw him in person at the metropolitan museum about 2 years ago. Awesome person.

Ethan Hawke is one of the coolest names, and it's appropriate coz he is one of the coolest dudes.
Training day is still one of the best action movies I’ve ever seen. Ethan should have gotten an Oscar then, not just Denzel

Saw True West two days ago. He's almost unrecognizable in that role. An absolutely hilarious and physical performance. I think he was still a little bit in character during this interview...

I know it was said in jest but steve going to the oscars as ethan would be hilarious and brilliant!
1. HAD to go back and rewatch the moonwalk after the backstory.
2. This is the first time Stephen's interviewing style bothered me; he interrupted Ethan too many times to be polite; and that made me sad.
Yusra Kriel that’s my main gripe with Colbert, his interruptions and not allowing the guests go off into unplanned interesting stories, like Conan does so well.
YES! I feel like he needs to watch himself some Daily Show and pick up some sincerity/ listening-skills from Trevor, too. I do love his monologues, though.
Usually Colbert doesn't interrupt. Letterman used to interrupt a lot.

I have never seen a celebrity do a moonwalk as good as ETHAN HAWKE!
He's truly passionate about acting and proud of the work he's doing, I suppose that's rare for a TV audience. True West was a play that I had to study during college and I have so much respect for Sam Shepard as a writer and director because of it. Of course now, if it's not a Marvel movie, then the audience can't relate. Actors are labeled weird or too high brow for paying due respects to theatre.
