The TX-T isn't just great at max upgrades, it also is really good at recovering as even the unupgraded tentacle force maintains a lot of it's utility. Also worth noting is the afterburner damage which allows you to attack backwards even without a force and even rack up some bonus damage against the 6.1 boss by spamming your gear shift ( have to be wary of when the boss rotates though.)
I agree with you that TX-T Eclipse is number one. Although the Shockwave Cannon is not very powerful, it can penetrate walls and enemies to deal damage, and the Tentacle Force automatically tracks enemies, making it very powerful. By the way, I love the R-9WB Happy Days; the split wave cannon can wipe out the swarms of Bydo System Alpha that appear in Stage 4.0 and Stage 7.2, and it can destroy the Stage 3.0 boss in one hit.
I personally think the RX-12 Cross The Rubicon is more powerful than the TX-T. Its wave cannon functions very similar to the shock wave cannon, but is more powerful. 1 loop deals more damage than 1 loop from the shockwave cannon. The force functions similarly as well.
I haven’t tried the R-13A2, but I’ve had lots of good luck with the R-13B. Even the 1st loop of the wave cannon (and sometimes only a half-charged loop) eliminates a lot of smaller enemies before they even have a chance to pose a threat. Sometimes even the enemies behind me get hit.

In Final R-Type part 1, there was a Ship, free to costumice like we want. We can choose which Force, Wavecannon, Bits and Bomb we want, from all that was unlocked anywhere. In Final R-Type part 2, there is not such a Ship?
The TX-T shouldnt be the best but the weapons feel so weak in this game, so releasing that force and letting it do all the work for you is the go to method. I don't like this game. It feels off to me

TXT Eclipse is the best ship, stage 4.0 with the backwards enemies and final boss was a breeze with the tracking tentacle force.

The Mariko is excellent. So many force, bit and wave canon options. If you haven't got it yet, you should.
