Apparently I said this "wasn't in the movies". I definitely meant it wasn't based off the movies since it was in Rogue One and I mention Director Krennic as what could've been a nice additional minigure. Oops!

Great Review Ryan! I missed the charging station for the mouse bot 😆 I will add a lights for the lava and each of the floors. I think you have the top of Vader's meditation chamber upside-down. The black piece in step 180 is at the top. Check page 137.

The Jedi With No Name it's based on the vr!! If it was rogue one it would have krennic but instead it has the blue pilot from the vr ride

Actually, in the Darth Vader comic, the shrine is a way to talk to the dead. The castle was build by an ancient Sith who possessed a mask, and he told Vader that it would be a way to talk to Padmé. However, the Sith used it to resurrect himself, and Vader killed him

In the Darth Vader comic series (which is canon), the Emperor’s Royal Guards actually watch Vader and make sure he doesn’t betray Palpatine. For the Sith, they have to kill their masters as Palpatine mentioned in Revenge of the Sith with Darth Plaegus. The Royal Guards don’t protect him. Just a little Star Wars lore your you guys. I thought that Darth Vader's Castle was first featured in Rogue One, then shown more later on in the Darth Vader comic series?
Check out Vader's comic issues 21 and 22. It is a cool , dark story of the design of the castle. Really recomend it.

I'm 90% sure the pilot figure is supposed to be an imperial 501st trooper since Darth Vader owned the 501st even after 66 and the 501st was transformed into a stormtroopers legion
"Bacta" Darth Vader looks incredible, a great one along with "Bacta" Luke from 75203 and Anakin from 75183, it's pretty cool to see official minifigs which have nothing to envy to custom ones...
I hope Lego will continue to release unique ones like this.

Wasn’t a fan of this set when it was announced but after seeing all the playability and features it has I actually think this is a pretty well rounded set. Add in your Director Krenic fig and you’ve got a badass scene straight out of Rogue One 😎

One of the best Star Wars sets in a while! seeing the pictures I just wasn't impressed, but seeing it in this review, it's just really good! I still think $130 is a bit too much! maybe 100-$110 would be better

I had no idea that this was a Amazon exclusive! It might have been a little odd to get out but I like that LEGO actually tried to do something to preserve the instructions - any anti-curl initiative is cool :-D The set looks cool I think - I like the hangar and the sith shrine! Very cool! The bacta tank is also pretty cool! I like this set overall I think! I'd love to have seen a couple of Stormtroopers and maybe an imperial officer too. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work :-)

I think this is definitely my next set. It’s bigger than I expected way bigger, I love how it looks, very menacing. I LOVE all the details they put for example on the sides the little compartments for the studs and the all the stuff going on inside the castle the meditation chamber and it’s so cool it includes a little tie fighter. Awesome set it’s Perfect.
Ryan’s biggest complaint:

Although it was seen in the VR, it’s focus has been in the latest Vader comics. If you’re interested in the set I’d recommend checking out the comics as they are really well written.

Darth Vader's Castle actually has its origins with the Empire Strikes Back. When pitching story ideas for what was then going as "Star Wars II" George and Leigh Brackett pitched the idea of Vader having headquarters inside a castle on a volcanic planet, which never got past those meetings, but made a lasting impression with fans as those ideas were published in various making of books over the decades and ended up finally canon in Marvel Comics and the Disney Rogue One film which led to the lego set.

I think it is great that LEGO has finally utilized having two sides of a box, and eliminated the worry for crushed, wrinkled, or torn instructions! I would have loved this five years ago!

The meeting area represents the platform where Darth Vader talks to Director Krennic in Rogue One
The bacta tank design for Vader is actually based on the Marvel Star Wars comics that were released for Vader. That "tech" that's inside his skin is part of his suit's life support, it's a little relay for his modulator thing that amplified his voice, and gave his lungs direct access to air because they were so scarred and destroyed.

Looks great! Love the fact that it is like the LOTR Isengard set in which it actually appears like the edifice in the film from most angles/views. I agree that we should have gotten Krennic with the set though.
I’ve been browsing amazon, and somehow found a Lepin Darth Vader’s castle, nice job amazon.
The "Meeting Area" is probably inspired by the scene from Rogue One where he... Meets with Krennic. As for the placement, it's probably just the only place they had left for it, and as opposed to the rest of the rooms this one didn't necessarily have to be "inside" as it was a more open area anyway

I stumbled onto the VR experience. I just knew it was Star Wars then I saw the blue trooper and i now understood where the set came from and what I was in. I highly recommend the experience it’s really cool, don’t shoot your friends they’ll shoot back and it stings, and when you see Vader there’s no where to run all you can do is scream as he approaches. 😂

I did the VR at a movie theater in Texas. It is incredible. You can feel the heat of the lava and it’s just amazing.

I think the handlebar on the meditation level is for his lightsaber bearing in mind that this is a play set after all

This set is really cool, and it feels like it was made by a Star Wars fan, its got some nice refrences to the lore. Vader and Director Krenick met in that meeting room in Rouge One. The Sith Shrine is from the Darth Vader comics, I personally havent read it, but its about Sith magic and time travel and it sounds cool. I believe the hidden lightsaber is a prototype lightsaber made by a Sith. I just think they added a few refrences to the lore it really makes this set desired by fans.
