So, for the curious people, here are the reasons behind the PU's in the mission tree of Provence: -Naples: You were the king some years ago. -Hungary: The Anjou dynasty ruled over Hungary after the fall of the Arpad dynasty. France: The Anjou dynasty is a cadet branch of the Valois dynasty Aragon: Provence and Aragon had royal ties since the time the duchy of Barcelona was still independent, some dukes of Barcelona even managed to be dukes of provence.
@@shararm Yeah, to be fair the Anjou ruled for less than a century while the Arpad did for like, fourth centuries. So it's kinda expectable people don't know about them.
Imho, I used different strategy to get powerful as Provence. Here is key differences: 1. Declare on England for Maine reconquest, promise France lands, so they join. You have to micro pretty hard, since your troops has to be 1st in Normandy. Take all Normandy for yourself, France probably breaks alliance, but we don't need it anyway. 2. Since you got your 100 dev and more, immediately take mission for Naples. If you are lucky, Naples is still under PU with Aragon, and that means you get cores on all it lands instead of PU CB. Trust me, it's much better, than having Naples as PU member.
@@CoolBonobodo the test, 1 junuary of 1445 France no broke their alliance with you, you can move troops to France and use them to defeat England with promise of land, take all Normandy and Ceuta from Portugal, only improve relations with Austria before the war finish, you can use Scotland as distraction to made more easy the war and something get a vassal in Ireland, move your capital to Aix join to HRE with 186-192 relation, France broke the alliance with you but you win a big expansion, you can wait for Naples improving with electors or conquest Morocco, you can complete all provence mission tree, take all Magreb and crush Ottomans before 1500, you be so fast 5 extra initial provinces do a difference.
Ah you mean just to beat England, yeah that's good advice then! Didn't think it through, you'll get good provinces + Naples cores immediately after. France still will eventually break alliance, but you will be in much much stronger position, thank you for your strat!
@@CoolBonobo only exist a problem, if you don't improve relations with burgundy and marry them before take Normandy, they will hate you to much, only can heritage Burgundy via HRE emperor force union.
for me i'm a bit different i take naple's land directly then taking out brittany i've also tried diplo n espionage, both r nice but it's much easier to become the hre emperor w/ diplo and by becoming hre emperor it's much easier as well to get the burgundian inheritance
Good idea to become one, I didn't mention it, because Provence doesn't have diplo slots for PUs + electors. But if you see that you can try, go for it, it will pay off (but you still need to get rid of Loraine to make Burgundy friendly)
By the way, I like forming Sardinia-Piedmont into Jerusalem, just for the role play. When you integrate so many subjects tag switches really aren't very painful. You just unstate your current cores after an integration, make one or two new states, switch culture and then state the integrated lands and lower autonomy. Especially if you get a big Burgundian inheritance then you don't have enough governing capacity for everything anyways.
If you let Poland get the PU on Hungary could you not declare for PU anyways? It's been a while since I have been in a situation like this and back when it happened to me the last time it was extremely buggy. I had a PU CB on Lithuania for some reason and Poland wasn't even called into the war even though it was the overlord, which still is one of the most ridiculous bugs I have ever encountered. I am unsure what happens if you get a mission reward PU CB against a subject that is already under personal union. It would be funny if Provence ruled the lands from Catalonia to Belorussia before 1500 though! Edit: I double-checked to make sure and there is no scenario where you can get the PU if Poland gets it first. If Poland enforces the PU before you declare war then you only get a conquest CB on the three core Hungarian states, if you declare for the PU and Poland enforces while you are still at war then you also do not get the option to enforce a PU, which also seems like an oversight. You should be able to enforce PU just like in a regular contested PU war.

I knew most of these but Hungary blows my mind

Timing is really good, I just started my Provence campaign yesterday!
I love your videos man, been going on an achievement grind recently and it’s really awesome to see your guides
7:47 I have gotten lucky before and was able to get cores on Naples you are actually able to full annex them this way
It's even possible to savescum so Aragon doesn't release Naples
happy new year buddy, thanks for all the entertaining vids
Happy New Year! Thanks for your comments and support for this channel! Wish you all the best in 2024
You know it's gonna be a blessed campaign when Austria falls in a PU with you.
If you rival England, insult them and improve relations with France something they get friendly to you, about 75%.
Not for long though, they will break alliance eventually.

Seems like a good candidate for unifying the HRE!

Well, although it's possible to steal PU, in most cases it's a lot better to PU directly. No need to fight both Poland AND Hungary
