This was such a good breakdown. I especially liked the advice on mixing metals and wood tones. I love brass but want to mix it up so it isn't overwhelming. I just bought a blonde wood dresser and was wondering if I made a mistake since other pieces are darker. Now I see easy ways it can all work without feeling disjointed. I love my existing pieces I just need to add selectively so they still shine.
Just found you. Great content and that last part, about choosing colors on opposite ends of the color wheel and how it makes it easier to add in a wider variety of colors later, was very interesting!
I would love to see a video ( or if you have any video recommendations) for colour palletes with multiple different colours like the paint swatches and photos you showed at 13:09 ! Every single video I see only recommend 3 colours with a 60/30/10 split but all the design inspo I love have far more than that, and they all seem to go together, I’m curious about the ratio or how to use many colours!
Re the wood matching - you should match the undertone and saturation of the wood, people often get it wrong because they have muted and then very yellow or red wood in the wrong tones.
this was so informative! there’s a lot of videos that discuss this method, but I appreciate that you went further beyond color, and also delved into mixing different woods, metals, fabrics, and patterns. It’s hard sometimes to conceptualize blending these elements, so your explanations and examples were super helpful 👍
also! I LOVE the idea of doing 60% for neutrals and 40% for colors, and then applying the 60/40/10 rule for each grouping. I often feel like the original rule is a bit too limiting for my palette, so expanding to 5-6 colors (of different tones) makes more sense for me.
Hi Alexandria, Im a new subscriber! Any advice for a large dark brown leather sectional with traditional lines? My husband is not on board with replacing. I would like to make it look softer and brighter with throw blankets and pillows.
Love this video, very helpful but complementary colors are 2 colors opposite of each other and analogous colors are colors next to each other on the color wheel.
I was waiting for someone to point this out! I have another video coming tomorrow where I’ve made the same mistake on the terminology 🤦♀️ the information should still be helpful but you are totally correct!
@@alexandriaparis Thank you! Are they considered to be red, because they look to be a dusty peach/brown color. I didn’t want to order the wrong color.😬
Never have I seen of all the videos I wacthed and there a lot. Has anyone explained this in such detail as well as you. I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU ❤😅
Patterns! Hit the nail on the head for me
I’d love a longer video on patterns. I find skilled use of patterns to be the key between a good professional designer and a mediocre one
Such a fantastic RUclipsr. Your channel is going to blow up 🎉🎉🎉

YES! Trying to match everything never works out. Layering adds so much more character and is a timeless look!
I’ve seen the biggest change when I started adding patterns in my home!
Right! It’s such a small element that has a huge impact!
This video was so good, the example photos you chose were perfect.
I’m so happy you liked it, thanks for watching!
Do you do one on one consulting?

I need to watch again and this time take notes. So good! Thank you!
Good tips thank you

Thanks so much! Sometimes I feel like I harp on the 60,30,10 method but it really works wonders when layering!
I enjoyed this tutorial and learned a lot thank you! 😁🩷

Yes, analogous are typically 3-4 nearby colors
Really informative & helpful, thanks
This was a FANTASTIC informative and helpful video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much!
There should be a balance of wood, natural, cloth, metal, glass and living - just like the elements
Yes! Totally agree :)
Great video.
Great vid, cheers
In the words of Christopher Lowell, Just because it's Wood, doesn't mean it's good.
And, it is not difficult removing paint from wood.
May I ask where you got your curtains from?
They are IKEA! I absolutely love them 🧡
