Color is a must for me in my space. I couldn't live in a bland or light colored space. I need bright, dark, or bold colors to uplift me. Current living room color is bright turquoise blue.

You bring such a practical, honest, and heartfelt approach to your design. I appreciate your balanced perspective with regard to new vs used, quality vs convenience, etc. As we continue to settle into our new home we take a similar approach and have always been provided with what we need to finish each space, whether that is a just-in-time fb marketplace find, a sale on the new item sitting in my Wayfair cart, or finding an interesting new spot/use for something we already had!

Thank you for this! I’ve been trying to mash-up mid-century with glam, but also a little vintage. (Think milk glass, doilies, and other items passed down from my grandma.) I also have a grandfather clock that my grandma handed down to me. It’s very traditional. It’s currently being housed at my mom and dad’s house until I can figure out somewhere to put it. I like French country but without all the checks and plaids and ruffles. No frills. More emphasis on rustic wood tones and chunky pieces. Not sure what style this is. Neutral colors (lots of cram and brown, no grey), with subtle pops of sage and very rustic beams, stone....Help!

Can you give any guidance on mixing styles that are more closely aligned than a juxtaposition? I.e. mixing French country with English traditional? Or English cottage with French colonial?

This is a very fun series that scratches some kinda itch, and your ability to find really illustrative inspo images really seals the deal. Appreciated seeing industrial paired with some more eclectic/earthy/warm vibes because that's where I often end up - - I'm very much on a budget so often salvage old metal and even commercial large furniture pieces, and when blended in with some vintage wood and vibrant textiles the vibe is quite cozy in the end. I'd be happy to watch more of these.

I manage a mix of art deco with mid century then layer a gentle touch of art nouveau in there. Add a touch of english cottage to soften which can also afford a little boho but I limit this. It's a cosy combination that let's me juxtapose simple furnishings with beautiful textiles. A mixture of old and new.

My partner leans mid century mod & I’m more English Country/cottage so this was right up my alley! I especially love the idea of using mid-mod furniture with more traditional fabrics/patterns.

So beautiful and such good ideas. I would like to mix Midcentury Modern, British Colonial, and maybe throw in a touch of either Art Nouveau or Glam. I have a honey oak parquet floor that I'm pretty much stuck with, and I love warm whites, celadon and jade greens, walnut, stormy greys, copper or oil-rubbed bronze metals.

Can you show how to update things with a chocolate brown sofa and loveseat? I see all white sofas everywhere and that just isn't practical for us with a dog and grandchildren, plus we like our dark classic sofas, but we do want to update and lighten our space, so wondering what you might suggest?

I love light neutrals but mixed with patterns of stipes, gingham, plaids and florals. I also love the darker blacks, browns and greens of dark academia and I collect old world or vintage pieces of decor. ( Antique olive jars and stuff). Also I love some modern touches too! Hi Alexandria, I m new here and subscribed. I really love how you experiment and show what you’re not loving. So welcome. I feel I’m a bit the same . U m an unqualified designer myself though, I just know I was born to do this. Currently furnishing a new build my husband and I designed and helped build. Massive project for us. We bought the land 17 months ago and are so proud of our progress. We are now running out of funds and I have lots of people coming to stay for a soft launch so I’m being creative, buying stuff on FB marketplace to flip. Love doing this, so satisfying when you see what you’ve created in the room and know that it’s unique. Paint is my friend!!

Hi Alexandria, just discovered your channel today. We are moving to a new home and one question I have is how to handle a home that is all gray and white? We own a chocolate brown classic couch and loveseat and we have some wood furniture, and the hardscaping in this home (kitchen tiles, countertops, stone around fireplace) is all gray. I want to find ways to warm up and layer neutrals, but blending gray (cool tones) and warm earth tones can be a challenge. Can you help?

Excellent advice - I cannot stand any of these things that you have mentioned - add to that lots of pillow on the bed that have to be "chopped" with your hand to make them into some sort of V shape. Why do people do that?? It actually drives me nuts when someone does it on a video -and they all copy each other, so there are thousands of women all over with this pillows that they whack in the middle !!🤨! Love your decor sense!!

Unapologetically great advise. I found this video really refreshing and gained some good tips such as a bowl of mini prints on your coffee table and encouraging thrift purchases for individualism and interest.

Well done for creating a beautiful and functional home while staying sustainable and repurposing. I love the colour of the leather ottoman and the patina it has developed. It looks very chic like genuine expensive leather. I also tbh k that the color ties together the dining and living space. I am not a fan of painted leather as I think painted leather more often than not looks like faux leather. But I do get that you’re looking for a refresh.
