Those EVH Stealth amps are selling like crazy. Online retailers get a batch... and they are gone quick. Tell MusiX you want to KEEP that one! Great video! You nailed the VH sound, and you can play that stuff really well! Eddie was not only a legendary gifted player... but he knew how to use the gear to get the sound he wanted. Look at how popular his EVH line of amps are! Everybody wants one, because they sound amazing. Eddie knew gear. And he was a hell of a stage performer, too. He will never be forgotten.

Not to get too 'OCD", but the amp that Ed used on this live album, recorded in the summer of 2013, was his first edition of the EVH 100 watt white 5150iii, the 'pre-stealth' heads. The higher gain Stealths werent out yet in 2013. Love your channel!!
Yes but it was modded for the tour and later released with the mods and was named Stealth 😎👌. At least according to Ed’s guitar tech (on a Guitar World interview). Glad to hear! Thanks!

I think however, I can hear a different in Eds live tone between this Tokyo show, and the shows with the actual Stealth later on. I currently have the original 100 watter, the 50 watt 6L6, and the 50 watt El34. I plan on grabbing the newer 100 watt Stealths of both 6l6 and EL34 if/when I can find a good price on used ones. Im looking for 'the best one' that works for me, however, I have a feeling, when all is said and done, they will all be sold, and it was just a fun time trying them out. I always go back to either my Marshall or Soldano. The rest is just fun and games of trying new toys and trying to recapture some of that feeling of being young. Still really impressed with the Amp1. Amazing that it sounds so close to the Stealth. One feature of the Amp1 that is not mentioned much is the master volume. It turns up more gradually at low volumes so you don't get blasted right away. I just got the 50w Stealth, and it's really loud turned all the way down. And you're right. Channel 3 is just too much. :)

The first 3 van halen records I think EVH used his pedals in the power load box he got made by some Mexican guy I forgot his name but its on youtube the load box was made in 76 and EVH would put guitar pedals after the power amp and before the speaker. Check into this and try this out and make a video
That was his live setup. Studio and live are two different things ’cos in the studio you add time based effects in the mix so you can record the pure amp sound and recreating similar live was Eddie’s point. But yeah he used similar setup in the 70s but a bit more ”primitive” 😎👌.
I still maintain that Rudy Leiren > Matt Bruck!....I honestly think that initially at least Matt, had a negative impact on Eddies tone save for turing him onto Soldanos. I recall reading him say "His sound was too clean so I convinced him to dirty it up" . I met Rudy when he was Jag Tanna's tech (I Mother Earth) and we talked about Ed, of course lol. Eddie is well known for saying "he hates distortion pedals" and Rudy said the same. Part of the unique charm of EVHs early tone was just that: massive unbelievable tone with clarity, especially compared to say, RR and that heavy MXR distortion. I love RR and love them both, equally, but RR's tone at times wasn't totally on point and I think had he not died so young, like Hendrix, we would have seen (heard) a substantial evolution in tone....Anyways, nerd talk LOL..Awesome video once again and really appreciate all the fine details you put into these tone breakdowns.

It makes NO FUCKING SENSE to me why the EVH Flanger doesn't have a momentary switch. Or, which they can do, a soft switch you can hold for a few seconds and it'll go from momentary to latching, and vice versa. I have one, and I kind of want a Boss BF-3 to get close, but use the momentary function.

Yes is a lot of gain, and thats because on live show this is how most guitar player want it to sound, not so processed signal as an standard album. This Live disc captures VH energy and killer sounding (except DLR vocals) from recent era, makes me remind the sound on the 2015 show. This is my favorite guitar tone ever.

@@TavaresProject ufffff can’t agree more, that sound is amazing, but lets be honest, tunes like Everybody Wants Some or Somebody Get me Doctor will do not sound as killer as in Tokyo Dome, thats why EVH was so great, his music on F.U.C.K and Balance is on another level also👍🏽👍🏽
Yeah a bit too much gain for my taste too but it still sounds great. EVH 👌🙏👑.
