A little tip for anyone who doesn't know. At camp grounds, you can go into training to heal everyone back to max. You don't need to camp or rent a motel or even need to use healing items, just go to camp, train, complete training and bam, everyone is healthy.
The biggest troll in the game is how it tells you to sell your treasures for gil but you actually need some of them to upgrade your weapons and some of them are gone for good until you can go back in new game plus. There is a list you can get to know which treasures are safe to sell but the easiest way is to just keep 1 of every treasure, all the upgrades only need 1 treasure and no upgrades require the same treasure so its safe to sell all your duplicates until you've upgraded every weapon then you can sell all your treasures. If you made the mistake of selling all 6 Metal Scraps at the start like I did then you'll have to wait until you finish the game and unlock new game plus to go back to chapter 1 and 2 to make them respawn.
Mightylink yep. The game tells you that they’re insignificant and are only there to sell. I’m halfway through chapter 3 right now and have sold pretty much everything I shouldn’t have. I hope it doesn’t come back to bite me in the ass too hard
Make sure you do side quests and hunts. Trust me, if you just do the main story you'll always be out of gil and will have barely any potions, weapons, armor, and stuff. I learned that the hard way.
The thing i wish I had known from the start was to be extremely patient and not attack your enemies too soon. This is not a beat'em up game and can be extremely unforgiving if you rush in too soon. Most of the time, you start a battle by analyzing your targets from a distance and then dodging around until you and your friends are in position. Wait for the prompt to block and counter attack and don't make any mistakes or you'll use a lot of potions.
@@metalstiches I died once early on when I didn't have a clue what I was doing. As far as I remember the game just stops and you have to reload from an earlier save.
I bought this game out of the blue, and even though I’m having fun, I don’t have much idea what I’m doing. This video was really helpful, so I think I’ll be starting over. Thank you for making this video!
I've just started playing this game on the PS4, but the text is so tiny that I can't read it so the tutorial was useless. So I've just been mashing random buttons to fight the monsters, and doing pretty okay doing that, too, lol... At least they follow the button "standard" that most fighting games follow: square = block, circle is light attack, triangle is heavy attack.
I did a full main story oriented play through on PS4 without knowing about Wait mode. Now that I’m replaying it trying to do everything on PC and I’ll definitely use that.
Very, very helpful video, man. I'm a big FF fan and I finally played FFXV for a few hours today, but was a little confused/frustrated about some stuff. Loved to hear about infinite sprinting and I think your tip about wait mode in combat might have saved the game for me. Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much! I havent played since I killed Sepiroth back in the day. For murdering my love. Went bonzo on wargames and co op. [Hockey ,NFL and basketball.] But I am finally back. This info was what I needed! A+, I am to old for the flaming hoops.
The wait combat thing put me off getting this game for ages because I thought it was default and the only option. I bought the game for $14 aus because it was $14 and was so happy to see it has real time/active combat instead
Damn I really wish I had seen this video before I started playing XV. I'm 10 hours in, on chapter 5 and I still barely know what I'm doing. Hopefully this'll make the rest of the game go more smoothly!
Go to Myrlwood and get the weapon there. Trust me, I just got it and not only is the weapon a lot of fun to use, but it deals pretty great damage as well. I just took out Aramusha by using it for the first time of both using that weapon and the first time fighting him and it only cost me about the same amount of gil that you get as a reward for a second time. Also, I disagree with using wait mode. I prefer active. I've never used wait mode. Some battles were kinda difficult at first but after about 40 hours or so the learning curve starts getting easier and you can handle all kinds of stuff in way faster time then it would take if you used wait mode. Time is money. I would also suggest buying meals from every chef you come in contact with just because your chef can learn some recipes which means you have more options when cooking in camp. There are some things about using the vehicle that would totally come in handy in this video. One tip I can offer is that if you find a location for a quest or something you can't fast travel to, pick the closest place you CAN fast travel to. This will cut down on time considerably. Time is money. It only costs 10 gil (5 if you are me) to fast travel to any location. As long as you did pretty much anything in the game you will makeup that gil lost from fast traveling. I'm on PC and just bought this game about 2 weeks ago. This might be my favorite FF yet.

A lot of the tips related to maximizing XP risk overlevelling your dudes to the point that the game becomes easier than it otherwise would be. I'd suggest keeping an eye on the level requirement of the main quest line --- that's the game's way of telling you the level you "should" be at. I did a few hunts and side quests early on, and was stunned when I saw the end of Chapter 1 quest was only a level 3 quest while my dudes were all at level 7-8!
Thank You! I am finally going to start this game again after getting the Royal Edition. I took a break from Final Fantasy 14 online I just want the normal Solo feel right now.
It cost 5 thousand the cost is half after a while. No wait mode unless your not really good at fighting games. Wait mode is decent for what it can do but you can do it on the battle field faster without wait n learn how to attack at the same time then just waiting which makes it less fun. Great video by the way this is great for a beginner most definitely you giving them a good head start

Also you don't suffer from that annoying youtube curse of irritating voiceover, bass turned up unnaturally high and tourette's like use of words like "super" and "to be honest" - keep up the great work!
This may sound stupid but I feel I'm struggling with the warp strike. I'm holding down the R1 button and pressing triangle and sometimes I have to do press it twice and waste double mp because the first time just warps and then I get the strike. This especially happens when doing it from a warp point. I've also tried it while holding down the triangle button and it's the same issue. What am I doing wrong?
Jerry Purvis yeah just hold R1 then press triangle to warp WHILE still holding down the R1 to lock and it should all be fine. Not sure if you already know this by now but just in case you didn't, there you go.
