I gotta be honest as a white I had a much different experience at the majority black school in Sacramento California I was treated terribly from the beginning because of my race. Edit that being said it was only a small portion of the student population and many were very nice people. I just pointed it out, because we have to acknowledge this country is very divided and the hatred goes both ways.

Instead I will try to explain the result of the pain of our past. There is a certain amount of fear that rises up in us(Black men) when we see white people. Men in particular. Out of that fear, violence is born. Not anger. The anger comes a split second later. Because our people in this country have had to bow down to white people for so long, We Are Pissed all the time. Sometimes We can maintain our cool. Sometimes We cannot. Maybe if you look at it through the eyes of a man, you can better understand.

There's only certain parts of Texas that I feel comfortable in. Most of texas is STILL exactly how he described in this video. You have to get to a major city. Even in cities like Dallas, Austin, Houston the racism is there, it's just more sophisticated & passive aggressive . Instead of chasing you with a loaded shot gun, they block business loans.

Thank you for this. I was born & raised in the Bay Area CA. Moved to TX in 2002 to seek better opportunities for my family. I was humbled at how black ppl were treated & perceived. My daughter attended the same school as DeAndre Arnold. As soon as she graduated in 2017 we moved back to CA because being in the south stunned her self esteem as a black girl...we still working on it...keep fighting ✊🏾

I find it interesting that me, a white and then 15 year old German kid, was taught in a -German- school about the bad treatment of POC soldiers returning to the US from WW2. The first black person my grandmother ever saw in person was one of these men, liberating her country from fascism and horrendous rule. Seeing Americans fly southern flags and nazi flags these days and not embracing POC as a vital part of American history and culture is an absolute shame. I wish these unempathetic fascist failures nowadays who want to relive these horrible times would have learned this stuff about their OWN country and history, if people from other countries can do it. I can freely talk about German history, the atrocities commited by the people who lived 50 years before my time. I wish the American people learn to do that aswell.
Having these conversations is neccessary. It is a sad thing it has to be done over and over again in this day and age and to see that nothing has changed since the days of MLK.
My heart goes out to all people bound to such oppressionist systems, but know that the majority of people on this planet support and live kindness and empathy, even though most of them do it in silence. Keep up the fight!

I don't think these conversations are necessarily being had to end white supremacy or stop police murdering us I don't think black people that have these public conversation's are ignorant like that, but some healing needs to happen despite the back drop and opening up and talking and being honest about racism and the tragic stories gives people healing and makess others aware of a reality that they are in the dark about which will in the long run hopefully add to the fight and deconstruction of these issues it was never going to be a quick fix that would be massively helped with just conversation's alone.

I grew up in ex-Yugoslavia and then president Tito visited in African countries and we watched those trips on TV as children. In the system of that time we were taught about brotherhood and equality from an early age.At the age of 8, I first time learned about slavery watching then popular TV series "Roots" and I still remember it because I cried like never before
Growing up we realize that this world is full of injustice and pain but we must not put up with it.These days my heart is broken and I have no words to express everything I feel.I believe that the murder of Gorge Floyd will bring change and that we divide people only into good and bad.

As a white guy who grew up in the SF Bay, I traveled to the south as a young adult. Observing the glaring difference of white people's attitudes towards people of color was truly eye opening and disturbing to me. How they spoke openly and made racist comments in front of me, then they would smirk at me, thinking that because I was white, I would agree with them. I remember a couple times just shaking my head and walking away. I wish I had said something, but I was young and in unfamiliar territory. The other eye opening thing was that I was treated in the same kind, welcoming manner by black people in Mississippi as I always have been in California. Speaks volumes as to what the problem is and who is perpetuating it.

I remember when l was 6 yrs.old and we moved to a neighborhood that was predominantly White,we were the 3rd Black family in the area....I was an only child at the time and l would go to the house next door and ask for the lil girl to come out to play and her Mother came to the door and said get away from my door and she said the N- word....l came home and ask my Mother what that meant and she told me not to go over there any more and l just cried😪😪 That was my first introduction to racism. It was 1965 in San Francisco California.😒😒

Hi, Jamie, I’m a new subscriber. I’m such a huge fan of you! Been a fan ever since I use to sneak and watch “In Living Color” (cause I was too young to watch it, 😂)! You are so talented! Right when I seen the title of this video I hurried up and clicked on it because I knew that you would have some stories about growing up in Texas. Me being from Louisiana, we had and still have a lot of bad stuff going on but I remember being a little girl and hearing people tell me how racist Texas is. Like some towns you shouldn’t even stop in if you are a black person traveling through.
My momma used to tell me when we would drive thru Mississippi that my daddy has to sit in the back because he was darker than us.....Sad

Here are the crime stats just recently in the Washington post-10 million arrests in 2019-- 1,004 fatal shootings--41 unarmed people shot most of who were shot attacking the police--10 blacks killed --19 whites killed--89 cops killed-- last weekend in Chicago 82 shot mainly black on black- 19 killed.
Yeah but you have to be careful with those stats. The same people killing those people are reporting them. And it’s not about a cop killing a black person. It’s about those cops getting off scot free. When cops kill whites they get fired, tried and convicted.

Did you know statistics can be wrong. About 76% of the population is white and about 12 to 15% are black. So if white women and black women were arrested at the exact same rate the percentage of black women arrested would be higher.

It was the opposite for me as a black man.. I was working in a all white restaurant and I was not treated fairly at all.. they the workers look at me sideways and the customers was always looking at me like what the hell I’m doing working there.. they be all talking and laughing in their conversations and looking at me to let me know they was talking about me.. what I don’t understand is... why they even hired me in the first place as the only black man who applied for the job anyway? then I came to my own conclusion that they probably hires me to humiliate me and probably covering themselves from a discrimination lawsuit .. and I was right....then I found out from this one white woman who worked there with me and she was the only one liked and treated me with kindness and used to drive me home from work and told me that the reason why they hired me is because the company was going through a discrimination lawsuit and that’s why they hired me for the company cover up from their discrimination lawsuit that the company had pending in a lawsuit court case against the company .. smfh

I was introduced to racism at an early age in elementary when a white parent told her daughter not to play with us black kids... I never understood why she said that until went home and told my mother what happened and she explained but I was still confused.. And I remember telling my mother that my skin didn't do anything to her child... As getting older dealing with racism I quickly understood but still didn't understand why talk about the gangs feuding over color when the pot can't call the kiddle black...

Michael CT grows I am a 70 yr old white lady. I knew in 1957 that I was growing up in a racist family and I knew they were wrong. I protested in the 60’s and 70’s. This was frowned upon in my family. I moved my sons to Europe in 2000. My sons are not racist. Although I own real estate in Manhattan and New Jersey, none of us even visit America. I am horrified with all that has NOT changed in America. However, there are many examples of black America I admire. There are many black voices in America I continue to tune in. I will die never setting foot on American soil quite happily. I do not like or approve of American values.

Jaime Foxx grew up in the same town as my father Terrell Texas. My dad talks about how divisive it was. Also my father left Terrell after graduating high school in the 60s and never went back. He does not have fond memories of the city at all.

Excellent talk and as a UK black woman, what jumped out at me was 35 other families, and I was not even surprised, that made me sad, but I still hear the positive message that came from this. In the UK it is not as bad we are a smaller country, but we cannot pretend it is not happening.

I'm from Mississippi. I just want to say that although you're right that racism is prevalent here, not all whites here are racists. Some people can be reached, and as time passes more and more will be. I have to believe that and will never stop trying to reach them. Love and respect to all of you. None of us can ever stop trying, eventually those ripples will spread across the entire pond.
I love this honest retelling of these personal stories. People often behave like successful or famous people aren’t touched by racism when in reality it is part of their earliest life experiences.

It is by design. As soon as they got desegregation by all DELIBERATE SPEED, certain people began immediately building private schools and they abandoned and defunded the public schools. Now you have the charter school movement. There is always a plan.
in the 60s was before liberals, SJWS and Democrats like LBJ and Jimmy Carter decided to get rich off of creating a welfare state federal government that enslaved and exploited blacks in cities. The 70s is where it started to go downhill for blacks, thanks to "Great Society" aka "Great Enslavement" of blacks by Democrats
