We need a new Firearms Act of Canada once Liberals are gone. Fix everything broken from so called "variants" to non sensical prohibitions on perfectly fine sporting rifles. Remove RCMP from classifying any firearm and use simple, logical and factual features to classify them. Also with ending prohibition on suppressors, which made 0 sense and impact on public safety. Firearms owner were far too idle for too long and look where it got us. Now is the time to demand complete reform of the system.
Completely agree! We all need to be pro-active, including hunters, sport shooters, collectors and indigenous people...everyone. We need to stand together and demand our rights and not just sit back think it doesn't directly effect us.

I am hoping the senate does something about this but not expecting anything. The senate doesn’t need to worry about being re-elected so public pressure is not an issue if they are towing the party line. The Liberal/NDP need to be elected out of office. A new government needs to put something in place to stop this merry go round of the LPC using this as a wedge issue. We need serious people to deal with our serious problems in this country.

Every law-abiding Canadian must get PAL, and learn to handle firearms. In case of an unfortunate event, we need to protect our country. We all need to learn to handle firearms. We cannot stop any war, with our hospitality or charming smile. It took me 7-8 months to get a restricted and non-restricted License. I did not buy a gun because I am always traveling. I just rent guns at shooting clubs. After we get over with this Bill C21, We must find a way to start a safe gun storage service if possible. That way people like me, can own their own gun and store it safely when traveling. Right now I have lost faith in that idea. thanks to the liberal government for their ignorance.
Why would I risk breaking the law? Why would I want to even jaywalk across the street? Why would I be tempted to break any law in Canada? Were I to break the law, there is the strong possibility I could lose my PAL (possession and acquisition licence). We are not criminals. We could be some of the most law abiding citizens in Canada. We are hunters and sport shooters. Legal hunters and legal sport shooters. I feed my family with the harvest of a hunt. I stand collectively with First Nations hunters, with competitive sport shooters , with farmers protecting their livestock. We are Canadians and have been for generations. Why would a criminal break the law? Could it be that they don't care about the laws of Canada? Could it be they wipe their behinds with the paper it's written on? Could it be they feel incredibly safe and secure knowing that the Government of Canada is not targeting them at all, and is busy spending all of it's resources on chasing law abiding Canadians? Perhaps? Maybe?
Here's a number to consider - women that are accosted and don't resist their attacker are 2.5X more likely to come to harm than an armed woman. Woman that resist their attacker are 4x more likely to come to harm than an armed woman. Perhaps a great number of women in this country should re-consider their position on handguns.
If government is going to infringe on our constitutional right to personal property, they need to demonstrate that it will have a proportional benefit to Canadians.
When you layout the truth and facts regarding the issues of handgun violence and smuggling so articulately, how can any Senator refuse to see what's really happening with C21. A kangaroo court to say the least. Our governmental process is a sham. Keep up the great work and fighting the good fight for all of us. Godspeed
If the rule of law still exists in Canada, and they are hanging on a thread, then the Canadian Bill of Rights, 1960 will secure your right to lawfully own a firearm. I’ll leave it at that.

The senators should be made very aware that even other countries with very strict handgun regulations still allow and support the internationally recognized shooting sports. 250,000 people compete in IPSC worldwide and Canada was well represented at the last world championships. Pam Damoff idiotically stated in the SECU meeting that the thousands of IPSC members in Canada should not be exempt from the handgun freeze “because of the Danforth shooter” . Which , of course , is exactly equivalent to suggesting that race cars should be banned because of the white van killer. But B-21’s most grievous offence is that it is an utterly cynical and extremely undemocratic attack on a minority interest group for completely partisan purposes. It is an insult to upstanding Canadian firearms owners , who have been trusted by and partnered with the government for centuries , to suddenly revoke their privileges. In doing so , this government is stating that this is no longer the Canada that we all believed in , but rather , that we are all some sad and immoral shadows of our former selves . Pathetic.
It's the concept of free market, private ownership and privacy that is under fire. But Québec is not strong enough to repel the oligarchy running north America.

Completely ignored by everyone is the number of firearms lost by or stolen from our police forces including the RCMP every year. Those stats used to be published but starting in 2015 (who became Prime Minister then?) Stats Canada was told to stop keeping them. Why?
