THE most underrated PDM. I'd take this over Layton or Carlisle any day. Fresh, lasts long, gets compliments and versatile enough for any occasion.

@@solomonKachi7000 I haven't got my nose on Abercrombie but Percival is worth the price for me. Not just the smell but performance too. You might wanna test it and see for yourself.
@@solomonKachi7000 If you want a cheaper version of Percival, go with Mont Blanc Legend (which also smells like Fierce). I own both Percival and Legend and they are like 95% similar. Legend is just a tad fruitier.
I’ve never tried legend or fierce but Percival is definitely an attention grabber. I have and wear Layton too but Percival gets much better reactions from women.

I’ve recently had a sample of Percival . I must say it smells incredible. The projection is great and it smells so rich and very masculine and has so much depth . The dry down smells gorgeous . My wife absolutely loved the smell .. it drove her wild ! Highly recommend Percival
Percival is my all time favorite fragrance! Just works ! Has everything I need for a signature scent
Try Louis Vuitton L'Immensite, it's the same but much better and higher quality than PDM.

My favorite all time scent. I do love Layton as well but this one just hits different for me. Might be a bit bias as I loved A&F Fierce 15 years ago.. and this smells like a more rich and elegant version of that. Silage and projection are amazing 10/10

I get what your saying, I wore AF fierce for several years and I also liked Mont Blanc Legend. This one is a slightly more grown-up version of Fierce and on par with Legends age range. On me it's VERY strong I do just two sprays and it lasts 10 hours. I really like this one it has grown on me a lot the more I have worn it the less I feel it smells like the two designers. Great take Ashton.
Just bought a partial of this and have to say I completely agree. Niche version of Fierce/Legend. But at the price I paid I’m extremely happy with it. Loved your review. Keep up the awesome work.
I’ve personally smelled A&F Fierce and Mont Blanc Legend but I have never smelled a niche fragrance I would love to get a whiff of this one!

I enjoy Parfums de Marly Herod and also Montblanc Starwalker and Legend Night. I did not care for Percival at all. Just not my taste. But what I like most about your reviews is your honesty. You have my respect in terms of your opinions on all fragrances because I know I can trust your judgement. There are reviewers out there who sound more like paid shills than reviewers. Those I have tuned out.
Fan of Parfums de Marly. Layton is probably my favourite all-purpose scent and I also have Oajan for when I want to smell like dessert. Have not tried Percival yet. Thing to remember is all their scents have great longevity, so you get a boost in value from that. But they sure aren’t cheap.
I have a decant that I got from Max Aroma and it’s a good fresh addition to the PDM line (haven’t smelled Galloway). But like you said, it’s not special. I get the Chanel Platinum Egoiste vibe from it for sure. I prefer Layton.

For Percival Seemed like nothing special. It was like so basic and reminds me of the 80s or 90s type fragrances. This is the first five minutes. Then, it turned into a Hulk. Very Unique, Very strong, and so long-lasting. It's very modern and advanced even though it started as a 90s scent. Yes, the first half hour 100% Abercrombie. And you get mad. Good things happen to those who wait.

Great honest video as always! I have to say I don’t care much for this one. Herod, Carlisle, Nisean, Byerley, Habdan and Godolphin have me drawn in though I can’t get enough of them. I love the house, but I just can’t get on board with this one. Thanks again for doing what you do! Makes my life much easier before buying!
I paid $175 for my bottle and I'd buy another when it runs out.. it just performs like a beast. 12+ hours on skin and at least a week on clothes before i wash them.

I love mont blanc legend. I think its highly underrated. When I wear it everyone loves it. But few heard of it
It's definitely a mass pleasing intended release. And at that they did a solid job imo. A very pleasant fresh scent with good performance. It's a nice change to get a fresh release from PDM. That isn't very common so it's a nice switch up from the last heavier releases like Carlise and Akaster.
I prefer mass pleasing scents either niche or designer .because niche scents can be horrible sometimes

Amouage jubilation 25 was hyped , I tested it and worst smell ever . Had to throw the sample in the bin and shower for an hour to get it off , a lot of niche are too weird for my nose and probably the general public .

The best in the house of PDM. I love the scent and people love it. Most importantly, my wife loves it. I just purchased 125ml at a discounter for $155. At that price point, I would get this over Fierce or Legend. This will probably be my go to scent for all seasons.

I’m very very late, but I got a sample of this and it smells EXACTLY like Armaf Venetian, I think that’s how it smells. Perceval smells the slightest bit cleaner overall, but they are 96% the same
I think I'll treat myself because I love Mont Blanc legend especially for the price lol and Abercrombie and Fitch. Great video.

I got a trial of Carlisle and was really excited about it, but to me it smelled like burning rubber. I love Layton and Herod. I wonder if I got a bad sample?

Hedione is a popular aroma chemical found in many fragrances. It has little scent and used to blend mid notes. Clearwood and hedione used everywhere but never mentioned as a note. You must have been talking to a perfumer 👍
Remember not everything. Is on the label. FDA allows for certain things to be omitted from the labels. You will never find that on any label of my fragrances 😃
Another great content Ashton, an expensive version of Montblanc Legend, so far the only Parfums de Marly I have is Layton, and have a blessed, wonderful, productive and safe week.
Percival does something on skin that Legend and Fierce could never dream of. Might be similar DNA on paper, but they are just not the same, and nowhere near the same performance. I bought a decant sprayer that I filled half with The One EDP and half this, and that stuff slaps. The One doesn't mess with Percival's performance, but it does soften things a little and the two are an awesome combo when sprayed from a decant bottle where both are actually mixed together. I don't recommend actually layering and putting one on first and the other on second.
I actually bought the discovery set and a few other samples like oajan, goldolphin and Galloway...When i first tried percival i really thought blah basic but after the dry down and a couple more wears this was my favourite PDM fragrance not sure what it is about it... Its like its basic but its not all at the same time lool i ended up getting this and Herod but this is currently my favourite just light, fresh, clean, versatile a well rounded player
A. Percival smells NOTHING like MB Legend to me. Do people have the same polarized reaction to scents that we had to tastes in science class (Sweet v. Sour). If not, I can't explain why anyone would think they smell alike including during dry down.
B. My wife goes crazy for percival. I wore MB Legend and told her it was Percival and I was invited to sleep on the couch.
C. At least try a decant of both. Perhaps your experience is different but you'll at least know
I think this smells just like hollister break line, just higher quality, better performance, and higher silage.

Very very similar to Legend, a scent that I really like, but is quite generic.
I have the Legend also and I'm feeling a spent of money to get this redundant fragrance.

I bought it, everybody likes it but me. I have A&F Fierce Intense, so when I want to smell like that it is usually my first choice.
I understand the comparison to Legend but Percival is much higher quality and smoother. I gave my bottle of Legend away and I’m happily gonna use my decant of Percival.
Hopefully they will make Lancelot perfums too. That would be even better 100%
Just got my sample this morning. Wow, very happy I hadn't bought a full bottle, especially as it is very expensive. For me, on my skin, it's almost a cross between legend and legend spirit ( I own both ) it doesn't last long on me either... It's my first experience of a Parfums De Marly scent and I'm shocked they could sell this at the price they do.. Nice scent, don't get me wrong, but it is smelling and performing on me like something I can get six times cheaper.. Hope the other scents in their range are better than this??
The idea is that these perfumes smell of higher quality, so if it smells like something else that is cheaper - it can be hard to justify paying the higher price. If you're buying a scent and don't care so much about money and just want higher quality, for sure Percival is the choice - which I think is the main idea around niche fragrances anyway. But for someone who doesn't think the higher quality scent is worth the price jump, it doesn't make a sense to buy this scent - probably makes more sense to buy something more daring, stronger.
I fucking love ABF Fierce/ MB Legend. Legend doesn't last for me though. Skin scent after 30-60 minutes. So if I can get Percival heavily discounted, I'm down.
Awesome review! I definitely want to try this because I do enjoy legend but at the same time even discounted I'm not sure it's worth it but I'll have to sample it. Legend always gets me good reactions but only when people can smell it on me which is about 2 hours before it's a total skin scent and 4 before it's completely gone so improved performance is always a plus. Keep up the good work man!
I got 7 different decants today from PDM including Layton, Layton Exclusif, Herod, Pegasus, Percival, Carlisle, Habdan. Off first impression only Percival is my favorite.

This is basically the same conversation as Aventus vs CDNIM or L'aventure, the only difference is that the niche came out first in that case. But no matter who came out first, If you want the highest quality go with the niche
Parfums de marly isn't available where I am at, has been a house that interested me but kinda sad 8 can't test them out without flying to somewhere else. Layton is definitely a bomb and has been on my radar ever since smelling it on someone else.

I went to the Percival release event here in NYC at the PDM boutique and tried it there....I liked it but didn't love it and thought it was just okay. I spent more time trying out some of their other fragrances, all of which I liked far more (Oajan, Akaster, & Herod stuck out for me especially). This review and the Mont Blanc Legend comparison are spot on for me. I love Parfums De Marly and hear this one get tons of hype but it's a hard pass for me.

I owned Fierce years ago and, at the time, i loved it (even with the bad perfomance it had). If Percival lasts 8+ hours, i think i will love it even more! Please enter me in the giveway
Thanks for the comparison to Legend! You saved me $25 for a decant. I can't justify paying more money (especially hundreds) for a fragrance that's 80% or more similar to one I already own. Agree with CDIM however I have percival and I've tried Mont blanc legend and I will say that to me Percival is much nicer
This is a tremendous review. To me, it’s the fragrance version of a dark blue pinstripe suit.
My experience with this one is that it smells nice and people around me really have enjoyed it. I've noticed in fact, some women respond very positively, maybe it's that hedione magic. That being said, it's not one that I really enjoyed. So I won't be picking up a bottle.

Herod is a masterpiece man! It is a must have for me. If you like a scent like D&G the one ( meaning tobacco ) then you'll love Herod

I have tried a decant,parfum is very pleasant,
to me it's something between Mont Blanc Legend and Channel Egoiste Platinum
(enjoying both of them very much) ,
but basically a little better than both,to my nose.
I just bought a bottle it seems very weak I also bought Layton it was weak at first but after a few days week it’s quite stronger now
Take that classic men’s shower gel / deodorant scent, make it as high quality and luxurious as possible, and you get PDM Percival
If I wear Percival and you wear Legend, A&F, or Chanel, we will not smell alike and I will smell better per everyone.

Got the 125ml tester for $100 :).It's not really a "niche" smelling fragrance but absolutely it is high quality. I do not like the opening as I smell a lot of ambroxan which reminds me of dior sauvage( I have not smell montblanc legend or aber crombie fierce).Overall it is a nice pleasant smell but I do not think you should buy it at retail price. For $100 it is definitely worth it though :)
I enjoyed Layton still need to order a sample of Harrod and a sample of this one before committing.
Hello sir I believe you said you love discontinued fragrances , so may I recommend 2 for you . 1st is Feeling Man by Jill Saunder , #2 Pancaldi by Pancaldi, this fragrance is smooth and has a Savage vibe to it . I don't know why these are discontinued.

Percival is essentially a smoother Montblanc Legend. Only problem is I'm not a fan of the Legend DNA whatsoever. It smells nice but I'll pass. Parfum de Marly's bread and butter is in their cold weather scents. Pegasus, Oajan, Herod, Layton, all elite status fragrances.

I’m late to the game with PdM, I never jump on the hype train, I’ll leave things alone and come back to them later to see if it was real. Now the PdM hype has died down a bit I thought I’d try the stand outs from the reviews I’d seen, Herod and Layton. Sorry pure hype, nice bottles, nice presentation, they’ve cultivated a niche feeling very well, but it’s just average at best from what I’ve tried. Layton just smells like a reformulated Boss Bottled and Herod smelt nothing like it’s notes. They aren’t niche in my eyes, just expensive and mass appealing and sweet smelling. Ok if you are just dipping you toe into higher end fragrances they are probably better than the average joes, but in comparison to actual niche or small, high end brands, I don’t think they are comparable. They are to me, the Balmain T-shirt of fragrances and if you know what I mean by that, I salute you 😂

I love your honesty and like legend but it never lasted very long so I totally get what you are saying and this would be a good option but hard to justify those prices for an ununique scent. So I grabbed this at Nordstrom today and it was love at first sniff but I kept telling myself this scent is a scent I already have or already know. I took my mind to various places I have been to get the scent till I got home. I realized that this smells identical to Prada Luna Rosa Ocean and Dior sauvage edt which I have in my collection 😮. This is a great scent anyways but I don't think it would be adding anything new to my collection.
