Six years later - still a gem!
i love the under water camera on the bait
I know this video is 4 years old but it is a bloody ripper. Thank you - love the camera on the bait as it gets hit
watching this after 8 years.thanks
That was just GOLD! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
Great stuff- No B/S just down to earth presentation - love the underwater stuff. Thanks Peter and crew
AWESOME video. Thanks for the information. Great job Peter.
Wow nice video one of the best i seen thanks mate, also no excuses when i saw the 70 HP behind the boat, here in Miami every fisherman wants a 350 HP pushing the boat and then they go fishing once a year lmao.
But when they do go fishing, they are drunk, reckless and a danger everyone else on the water with their 350 motor. Floridians cant drive a car to save their life imagine them driving a boat. Even the fucking kraken steers clear from them.
How cool is this. Great ideas on how to rig a dead bait. Those strike are mind blowing.
WOW... great fisherman and love to share experiences
thanks Peter & crew
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Very instructive video about what you do on the surface and what happens under the water. Congratulations
Thanks for posting this! I have to illustrate some mackerel. Not this species, but it's fantastic reference. The underwater footage is great
Good work Smorgo and Pete!
Nice underwater footage man. Great info and video. Keep it up.
great information, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
this was exactly what I was looking for. an easy way to rig dead baits for slow trolling
unreal footage. appreciate you sharing this. wish i could spend a week on this boat and soak in your knowledge! i Still have soo much trouble tying the wire.
Like wise, wire is a new game for me .
I loved this video it’s a great explanation of trolling the right way well done!!
Ya offcours
I jumped like a cat when that first Spanish hit :)
Awesome great fishing video well done great catch as well congrats

Great video with awesome footage, thanks 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
thanks for this vidio , this is something new like multipal hooks attached to bet.
Wow. Thanks mate!
Great video. Good luck.
Great video very informative
Thanks for the video.
Interesting to see you guys using singles in a line like that, we usually just put trebles on wire trace wire, made to the length of the bait.
Thanks Guys
Lovely that's a great fishing idea thanks
hey I used that type of rod (rated at 140 lbs) in Hawaii catching a very similar fish ...Ono, which translates to Wahoo...The line (Monofilament) used for trolling just like shown here, would become dull after a very short time, I did not dare use braided line for fear it would cut into the interior surface of the pole. And then the inevitable happened: a good size Ono on the line, a huge wave raised up the boat and I had just tightened the drag a bit...Bang broke the pole right at the orifice by the reel. I hope Peter has better experience with this type of pole! Enjoy!
I did not mention I saw that in-line pole at the very beginning of your clip, it caught that Mackerel while you were explaining how to rig the bait.....
These are Daiwa Interline 7 foot, 701 MF. They had a great fast action and an excellent butt set up. I run 65 lb Whiplash braid, which is over kill, as I rarely use more than about 10 lb of drag, and often less The big advantage of the interline style rod is that line cannot be wrapped around the tip and tip guides, which can happen with fast head shakes and braid. I used to break a few of them, high sticking, but would put up with it because of all the other benefits. Sadly, I can't get them anymore.
ขอบคุณมากๆสำหรับเทคนิคดีๆ
very well Done !! just Awesome..

great vid
thanks for sharing my friend
Thank you for sharing your knowledge greatly appreciated. Sharing those small details makes all the difference
Thank you sir for sharering
KISS Keep it Simple! Great video and Technique
very nice video...!!!
just a few questions blinking in mind...
one, how come the fish remain intact with the hooks despite immense pressure of water, which we feel on tackle while trolling. two, what is the depth it would go and what the depth should be for mack. last, can we control the depth, if yes then how???
Not an easy rig to make but wow is it really spiffy. Nice job and great vidya.
Peter is the man when it comes to catching mackerel and rigging baits!
Thanks for this infrmative information
My question where can i find the hook lead weight
2- how can you measure distance of lines from boat
Hi thanks for this great vid, same question, about lead and estimated distance please
Thank you again
it's amazing for tips thanks sir ,have nice day Strike mackerel
Liked and shared nice talking with you
Great video. Just wondering how much line you let out the back and if you stagger them?
Dave
We usually run three baits. The furthest back is usually about 70- 80 metres; the other side about 40-50 and a close one down the middle in the prop wash10 -12 metres. On quiet days you will usually get bites on the closest and the furthest.
best video
Wonderful Video. atleast clear one point that we don't need to hide the hook. here in my country boat captains put only one hook. here multi hooks are used. Fish strikes with great speed. What is the speed of boat 4 knot ?. we use to fish on anchor boat.
Kamran this is for trolling not we use drift dead bait at anchored boat. You can see that when bait is lowered none of any fish stroked on the bait as hooks are visible so hiding hook is essential when boat is anchored. We mostly troll where water is 15-20 fathom deep, whereas in this video its not that deep. I have tried couple of times the dead bait trolling, 100% success, rigged scad mackerel with single started from mount and ended in belly. Am sure after the rigging, boat speed must not be over 3 knots. Peter can confirm about boat speed
I loved the video! Thanks. Can you tell me how you filmed the strikes?
Water Wolf camera
@@FishingMonthly thanks so much!!!
holy mackerel!!!!
what type did you use on this rig,?
irado, meu sonho pegar uma sororoca dessas! kkkk
would us whitting as trolling baits for mackerel
very nice video, I tried to make this rig myself but was not able to open the eye of the hook....
+Tom Damen you can buy special pliers in Australia with a cone inside that opens them. Alternatively, use side cutters to wedge the eye open.
Rudely interrupted.. hahhaha... Love it.....
Typical fisherman..
Exelent...
Great Video! How did you mount the camera to film the strike footage?
+Satyrsen water wolf 🎥
Verry nice Shots! I am trying to figure out a way to mount my gopro the same Way right now ;-)
subscribed ,,,gud video bro👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻
Thanks - big 'ol thumbs up for you!
Are y9u using 90s regardless the size of baits
Nice mate i got smashed satdii on cod bait took it and ran 100lb hand line no trace sadly it got away didnt expect it to run but faaaarrrr they go off when they do
What is your trolling speed?
Hi Peter what is the size of the wire and the hook ? Am your new viewer from the Philippines God bless you mate
how much the sinkers weight sir
How did you attach the sinker?
Crimped onto the first hook.
Hello! What kind of hook you are using? Thanks . Igor
The bigger rigs use Mustad 4200 9/0s, the smaller ones use Mustad 7766 7/0s.
Nice King fish
If you are in North America. They would be nice Couta in South Africa. In Australia they are nice Spaniards.
They are called Spanish Mackerel here in Australia where the video was taken and did you notice the absence of bullshit unlike where King fish are caught
11.31 Queen fish moves away
Can I use kayak or it will be slow for that?
The rigs will still work. For bigger baits, it may pay to lift the tow point slightly, to get more action at slower speed.
Oh god, I was first thinking about the first bait was too big for fishes.. After that I saw that mackerel and those fishes in the ocean, they are freaking big lol
I can't imagine what will happen if I dropped in the ocean
nice knowlegde
Ok
Good idea but it’s take times to make..
wasnt that a wahoo? nah that was a king my bad
haha, well that's a nice way of being 'rudely' interrupted
Would this work for wahoos?
Yes it does. Tow the baits a bit quicker, up to 6-8 knots. The long skinny baits like gar (ballyhoo if you are in the States) or sauries (Sanmar???) handle a bit of speed without washing out.
Thank you.
Here is Steve landing the biggest one we got that day, a 17 kilo fish. It bit as he was feeding the bait out, and just about burnt his fingerprints off: ruclips.net/video/e-oEFWuHLkw/видео.html
Ayy
Wow what a great conservative presentation
I never saw any spanish mackerel. Were they on another clip. I saw some king mackerel.
Aussies calls them Spanish Mackerals while here in the US we call them King Mackerals..IDK why but that's just how it is.
I know that. What I'm saying is the actual name is a King. That's the species.
+Eric Gunnison yeah, I asked the same question on another video but keep getting the same answers from aussies. lol
Well its actually a narrow barred, but basically a king. I don't think they understand that a Spanish is a real species that I catch often with sabiki rigs off the North Carolina coast. They are usually about 14-18 inches. So that's where Im trying to understand why they insist on calling them Spanish mackerel. Spanish have yellow dots all over them.
Spanish is a common name so is narrow barred in australia for Scomberomorus commerson. Scomberomorus cavalla is the king mackeral (common name) and Scomberomorus brasiliensis has the common name Serra Spanish Mackerel. Simple minds should use Scientific names common names take tact.
net weights don't exist mate.
🤷🏼♂️
No sound dude
Phoenix Bowers it's u not him
OG Luke All my other vids work
Don't you ever take some fish home to eat? Or don't you like fish?
Peter eats some, but he is a commercial Spanish mackerel line fisherman out of Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia.
Keep ya rubbish on ya boat mate , sorry had to say it , great video otherwise
Fair enough
Quit throwing your rubbish overboard!
Hi Marc, I am guessing you are talking about the tag ends I twist off, and throw over the side. I am not going to argue with you, as it would be like playing chess against a pigeon. You will undoubtedly kick all the pieces off the board, shit everywhere, and strut around like you won.
too long..
+Abdul Rosid Kurniawan if you use a smaller bait you can catch shorter ones. 😂
FishingMonthly what i mean is a it take lots of time to hook on a bait, but its owsome fishing..😁
