Every human has multiple disorders. Children have them, and the older you are; the more disorders you (may) have. It's "natural" to have disorders, we all live in a world, and most of us in a society where the state of mind gives you disorders. We aren't build to do so many "normal" everyday things, we develop disorders...
Personally, as I can tell, I would have about 30-35 disorders. And most people of my age (25- 30) will have that same amount of disorders.

Please please please either edit your video or make a note in the description... you have given irresponsible and dangerous information. BIPOLAR DISORDER CANNOT BE TREATED WITHOUT MEDICATION. People ruin their lives, and people die because of this. I have commented below with a longer description. I cannot emphasize this enough.

ADHD is a myth created my pharmaceutical companies to make money off of kids who dont like being crammed in a classroom all day. I was diagnosed with ADHD and the medicines withdrawl symptoms were worse than the actual "condition".

I've always been talkative so talking about what I feel means the diagnosis was easy to arrive to and treatment can start early. I was actually misdiagnosed with depression but fortunately a correction was made and I recovered very well ever since. My coping mechanism was to have a very close and trusted friend, one who doesn't judge or criticize but will set aside time regardless whether they're busy or tired to listen to my worries and thoughts and offer comfort when relapse symptoms occur. Being truthful to yourself and admitting that you are mentally ill can be very challenging but you're not crazy, and people will never know unless you tell them, so be careful to let only the trusted people know about your condition and don't be ashamed that you're bipolar because you're still a human with value, just sick and need treatment just like any other illness.

Young Adults May Outgrow Bipolar Disorder. ... With symptoms often starting in early adulthood, bipolar disorder has been thought of traditionally as a lifelong disorder. Now, researchers have found evidence that nearly half of those diagnosed between the ages of 18 and 25 may outgrow the disorder by the time they reach 30

Then I abandoned all those habits because of lack of time because of school and work, and I have the disorder again. Honestly in my opinion as someone who has bipolar disorder. It's like having no control over your mood and emotions. One moment you can conquer the word and the other moment you can't move off your bed cause your so suicidal. It tends to affect every aspect of your life. Like school one moment you want to study and ace a test but when you get down your all f**k it all doesn't matter if I fail. And this is just me speaking but my mood can change so quickly.. I could have the best day ever and one bad thought or action can make me feel awful and self hate.. and you kinda just have to deal with it. You know those shows where theres a devil and an angel on your shoulder it's kinda like that but just the devil is telling you, your an awful person and your not worth anything and the angel is trying to convince you that your not.. it's basically an internal war with yourself.

great way of describing it, luckily (or sometimes unlucky) for me it not something that can change mid day. I will be in a manic or depressive phase for a few weeks usually before it changes. it makes it easier for me to combat tho because if I am having a depressive phase I know to force myself to go to the gym or clean the house so I can tell myself I did something or when im in a manic phase I can be more aware of it and calm myself down if im getting myself too hyper.

It's more important how we deal with what we go through. The challenge is that bipolar disorder makes dealing with anything extremely challenging. So yeah, I get you.

      @-zeer0 5 лет назад +8

@Stone Wallman I came VERY close once but that's it. Otherwise, no, it's not something I would ever do anymore. But those thoughts still come to my mind. I do my best to ignore them and move past them cuz yeah, I'm never going to take that step. Yet, uncontrollably the desire still comes at times. I don't have complete control of feelings like that, but I do have control over my actions. But as you said, everyone is different and yeah, it's just hard.

Lived with Bi-polar disorder for years and I'm telling you the depression can last so long, you literally are desperate for the high to come back and the highs can feel like you're on drugs. I kid you not that doctor's drug tested me just to figure out what was wrong with me. I was so happy but more than happy, like euphoric and high. I have the time of my life sometimes and once I realize I'm the only one enjoying myself, the depression hits and I regret everything I did will in mania.

I get really depressed, really easy. When I get like that, I don't like talking about my problems or why I am depressed. I like being alone in those times. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but that day could've started out terrific. I could've been having the time on my life and then I just get depressed out of nowhere. It hurts, but when I get like that, I don't want to fix it, I want to lay there and cry.
Update (09.16.2022): i tend to panic, freak out, and feel down or depressed the moment i wake up, it follows me to sleep. I feel like over time, something is strangling me and i can breathe less and less. Voices at times, my thoughts are no longer quiet. I just want to quit feeling, but i want to live. I cant cry anymore. Just a few tears.

My mom has bipolar disorder, and my bipolar surfaced when I was around 8 years old (when my parents had a very traumatic split). I started having fits of rage, depression, and suddenly after weeks of feeling like that I would be fine. It's be like a break from the mood swings, and then I'd go into a manic episode. I remember first getting into "risky"
behavior when I was 12. I ended up attempting suicide when I was 13, and then again when I was 16. When my therapist diagnosed me with Bipolar Disorder it finally all made sense. Every day is a challenge, but I find that educating the ones I love and that are close to me about my mental illness, it's easier to get through my episodes when I have their help. Medications don't work anymore for me personally, but talking to my therapist about ways to cope and learning of things that can prevent my episodes has done amazing things. There is hope. I never believed that. I even just got through another depressive episode last week. If you're suffering with Bipolar Disorder, please seek medical help, and find hobbies that calm you. Trust me.

Sadly this reminds me so much of how I grew up. People always get surprised when I say my first suicide attempt was in 1st grade (I already had a predisposition because of my parents illnesses but also lots of trauma probably triggered it). I’ve had 4 attempts that I can remember. I have both bpd and bipolar, not sure if it’s 1 or 2 because I just got that added to my diagnostics. I was labeled as pre bipolar when I was 13 and I’m almost 20 now and yup it was bipolar the whole time. Medications don’t work for me either but I have never tried bipolar meds so I want to try them at least once. I realized DBT has been helping with understanding how to think “normally”. I feel like I will never be able to live a completely normal life because I’m too scared to join anything w/ the fear of quitting when I hit a low. I also believe there is hope though. I know I have so much to give and I’ve been getting better at recovering from the shorter episodes. I internalize all of my stuff so my friends and family only really get affected by my lack of consistency in talking/hanging out. I hate it because I feel like I could be doing so much more with my life rn if it wasn’t a barrier.

Before I was diagnosed as bipolar and given medication, . I was angry or sad at any given moment.
some times I was a bomb and anything could trigger me to anger, When I was depressed I'd sleep alot, not wanting face life. I was rarely manic, but when I was in a manic mood, I'd would feel like I was drugged and would feel like I could face anything.
Now a days I feel alot better, I get depressed once in awhile. I always talk to my mom when I feel down, she always helps me with my depression. I always feel calmer after we talk. We vent out our frustration to each other, shes my bestfriend.

Being bipolar isn’t scary once you’ve accepted it. The only scary part is trying to explain to other people who think you just have mood swings and they think they can “handle it”. But it’s more than that and that’s the scary part about it. It really challenges a person, making it hard to keep relationships. It’s even harder when your a stubborn person like myself and don’t wanna talk about it which just makes having relationships even harder. I’m my own problem 🤷🏾‍♀️ lol.

    • @CandyHatsuneWolff
      @CandyHatsuneWolff 5 лет назад +3

Not everyone is capable of accepting it. By the time my father passed, he had decided that he had "just" unipolar depression. I do NOT want to minimize depression; I think he perceived that there was more stigma attached to bipolar, even if it was only in his own mind. I don't know if it's always stubborn denial with bipolar, though. For example, I have known a lot of people who have schizophrenia. I only know one who consistently admits it. Everyone else that I'm close with, if they were diagnosed with schizophrenia, doesn't really believe it. But that's a known thing with that disorder. It's not just them being thick headed - the illness itself makes it impossible for them to see it! Again, I don't know if it's a factor in bipolar. IIRC, I was able to accept my diagnosis fully when I started getting proper care.

The extreme fluctuations of emotions, within a day as you described, is actually called hyper mania. I have this part of bipolar disorder, which goes along with my borderline personality disorder. Hyper mania is when your emotions fluctuate extremely. For example, I can literally go from happy, to feeling superior, to angry, to severely depressed within hours. This comes with extreme danger. People like me often act on these moods, then immediately switch. We act out impulsively. Impulsivity is a huge factor in bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder

    • @RonPaul42069
      @RonPaul42069 4 года назад +3

It's actually called rapid cycling - not "hyper mania". Hyper mania doesn't exist. *Hypo*mania describes the sustained boost of energy and confidence experienced by sufferers of bipolar type 2. A "hyper" mania, or severe mania, is aptly referred to as psychotic mania, and is the defining feature of bipolar type 1.

If you haven't already I would suggest seeing a therapist or find a support group. I thought I could deal with it alone but I couldn't. Once they put me in the right meds it made me realize how far down I was before. Now I can manage my life so much easier and I'm alot less stressed. My depression periods are only a couple of days and not month like they once were.

The next..she felt suicidal and hopeless, not even wanting to get out of bed. She also has Generalized Anxiety Disorder and ADHD. She now is on a plan in school for it. She is now on Prozac to help with her conditions, but I'm still worried for her. She is an amazing human being, but some people can't see that. I'm trying to be there for her to the best of my ability.
I have panic attacks daily. I have never said anything to my family except my sister. I feel bad for bringing it up since my sister is going through so much that it makes me feel like I'm just causing more problems than my family needs. I constantly get anxious and shake uncontrollably while forced into social situations.
She thought she was depressed for a long while. Seeing her go through all this is making me really, really sad and anxious for her future. I've never been the best with comforting people emotionally, but I'm trying. Is there anything I could do to possibly lift some weight from her shoulders?

@@rlybaddude737 It's been over 10 years now. It also took that long to get a proper and complete diagnosis though. That's very common for bipolar.
I took a while to fully come around to my diagnosis, which is also pretty common. It mostly didn't click for me because I was in the thick of it, and I was too bonkers to manage to take meds properly on my own (wasn't prescribed with the right stuff yet anyway, yet another common issue.)
Once I accepted it, oh yes, it explained a LOT about me, and even more about my family. My dad and his mom were textbook. Sadly, my dad passed insisting he "only" had depression. I don't mean that major depression is any less serious or devastating - it's not. But to Dad, it was all he could admit to.
Anyway, yes, sometimes I still have trouble identifying what is *me,* my personality, and what is my illness, bipolar. For instance, I think there is a unique bipolar sense of humor that makes me laugh every time but sometimes confuses or disturbs others. I think the genius of people like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey is that they made this humor accessible and funny to everyone. Wish I could do that!

I know this is a year old but it popped up for some reason for me and I just wanted to share my story. When I was 18, real close to turning 19, I was having what I now realize was a manic episode. I was in college, I began drinking even though I never had before, I told one of my best friends that I had a crush on them which is something I would never have done normally because I dont really actually think I liked them like that. I was all over the place and then I came crashing down and I self harmed HEAVILY, which I had done up until this point but not as a bad as this one night that I recall. I literally ended up hospitalizing myself because I went from being on top of the world for a week down to the worst depression I have ever felt to where I tried killing myself and had to have both of my arms heavily bandaged. I spent my 19th birthday in the hospital. While I was there that was the first time I heard about bipolar disorder and then they began to put me on mood stabilizers, which made me go full zombie mode for quite awhile. I'm now turning 27 this fall and I haven't self harmed or tried to commit suicide since that day. I've worked so much to get to where I am and being able to understand my disorder. I'm not happy with what its done to me. I still have scars, I went from massively underweight from an eating disorder to overweight as I was beginning to heal from it... Every day is a struggle but learning about the disorder was the best thing to ever happen to me because it made me learn ways to cope with it and I'm proud of how far I've come and I hope that there is a day where I will be able to say I'm med-free.

I have bipolar disorder, I was diagnosed at 18 and I'm 24 now. One thing that really helped was to actually accept the fact that I actually have bipolar disorder. When you think of it, uasially you think of people who are extreme and researching it and listening to others who also have it helped immensely to normalize it in my brain. After accepting it, when I started to feel urges to spend immense amounts of money or planning crazy things I stop myself, realize this isn't what I actually want and go on with my life. It doesn't always help but when I get manic enough I'm lucky to have my boyfriend there to talk me down and same with the depressive side as well.

It doesn't get better for me as I live in a bad negative environment and so much stigma revolving mental illness in asia. They think the mentally ill are faking it.. making excuses like being lazy. But We REALLY have difficulty in doing consistent errands or jobs like showing up for a lesson as the mood swings are just so hard to cope with. Just a bit of kindness from society can make the mentally ill feel better! And 1 negative word like constantly comparing normal people who do things effortlessly no flaw with us who are ill and imperfect triggers our condition

Having Bipolar disorder is really tough, I have bipolar Disorder 2.
For a few days or a week you have insane amounts of drive, you have goals, you are career driven, you are very social and outgoing, even some could relate your hygiene is perfect, eating the right food, house is extremely clean, you dont really waste too much of the day at all.. You have all this energy and drive that people could only dream of having. Then for me myself, it gets to a point where even if gaming im in full hyperfocus mode and can play games for 12 hours straight no problem, and it starts getting out of control, my jaw gets sore like i have been on amphetamines etc etc
And then it alllllll spirals down hill and you're in bed for a few weeks with no want or need to do nothing and you literally want to just end everything, and sometimes you have no idea why you even feel like this, just you know the weather is bad and it'll hopefully be sunny again soon.

I have rapid cycling Bipolar type 1.
More than anything my experience has been characterized by frequent periods of mania, extreme confidence and recklessness, and less frequently by crashes after those manic episodes. I also have anxiety which shows up more when I am stressed but being anxious during a manic episode just puts you on high alert, like anything and everything is at risk of going wrong. I was addicted to feeling manic and for about several really started giving in to more and more of my impulses until I was basically just living for thrills, which may feel fun and exhilarating at the time, but is not really conducive for growing as a person and achieving personal goals.
I started seeing a therapist and taking medication last January (2018) so I have since stabilized a lot. I've tried 2 different medications, they both worked and the one I'm on now is a wonder (Risperodone).
It may take some time to get your dosage right, but it's worth the effort.
Therapy plus medicine is really the best way to go with bipolar because it is widely believed that bipolar is based on chemical imbalances in the brain, which means if you can address the physical matter first, the mind will follow as a response. You'll be less naturally inclined to be as impulsive, to feel those manic episodes and depressive period. It stabilizes you.
If you're going to put in the work anyways, it's a lot easier to put in work with a stable brain and moods than with an unstable brain and constantly swinging moods

I am currently coming out of a depressive phase and it lasted 9 weeks this time. I'm really scared that it's going to push away people I care about because I can't control my own thoughts.
I self harmed for the first time two weeks ago, I have called the suicide prevention hot line more times than I can count. I need to take a stand and I need to get better. Not only for myself, but for my friends and family who support me. I know the road can be scary, but I'm hoping it's worth it.

    1) you are not bipolar until you have been diagnosed by a PROFESSIONAL and 2) having a mental illness does not make it the end of the world, whether it be this or depression or anxiety or whatever else, kids. Sometimes you need to get a grip, get some help, and stop wearing mental illness like it is an excuse or an accessory. I’ve been in the scary psychiatrists offices and I’ve taken meds- and you know what I’ve learned? There’s a lot of help out there if you are willing to take the first step.

Unfortunately, not everyone is afforded the opportunity to seek help. I reached out for years to doctors in a broken medical system (we are a military family) and was told "get some sunshine or take vitamin D3" or after I had my son - "it's just the baby blues. Let us know if it doesn't get better or if it gets worse" even though that was EXACTLY what I was trying to do multiple times. It took me almost 5 years and 3 military bases for someone to really hear me. And my doctor here can't believe how bad my mental health got while being ignored. I have a myriad of issues that we are having a hard time distinguishing between. He can't tell if I have a whole host of issues or if some of the issues came about because the biggest one wasn't treated for far too long.
It's hard to "get a grip and get some help" when those who are supposed to help, treat you like a burden and say it's all in your head. You start to think you are overreacting which can only perpetuate the problem, if you do in fact have a problem.
