So if I understand correctly: You're not saying music in itself is bad, but using music for the wrong reasons (like escaping or drowning in sad feelingd) is?
Right on the money!
That's it bro, I'm going to pin this as it's exactly my point 👊❤
@@JakPiggott Does using it as a way to concentrate while study count as using it as a tool?
@@JumblyRumblyGooseyes I believe so. He’s more talking about using it as a self-destructive weapon that makes you feel worse or distracts you from your problems. Ofc once or twice isn’t that bad but constantly is very harmful. I listened to some sad music yesterday in class because I was sad about my Guinea pig that died the other day, but I did it like once and let myself feel my grief.
I'm just using it to live the moment I just feel great with music but I'm not like using or well over use it

I love music so much, as a music producer myself. Once and a while, I use music as an escape. But mostly, I use it as a tool to motivate myself.

I'm a high school teacher and I'm here on your channel hoping to gain some perspective or insight regarding the lives of my own students. I usually take what you say at face value and consider that my own students might be experiencing something similar. But I feel motivated to respond to this video because it's the first time my own experience was so vastly different from yours. In my mid teens, I remember the voice in my head - not voices in a crazy way, but my own voice, my own inner anxiety - would get loud enough that it interfered with my waking train of thought. I listened to loud music (RUSH, primarily) to drown out what was basically the incessant screaming of my adolescent mind adjusting to the noise of world filled with extrinsic stimulation - it saved my sanity and even my life... and for many years, I thought my experience was normal.
Props to you ❤
First of all, thank you so much for your words, you don't know how much it means, In response, this was my personal experience and not everything I say is right and applies to everybody, and I don't expect it to you. I really should have mentioned this in the video -> but music isn't the problem, it's why you use it that can be the problem, and this is the same for many "bad" habits. For me, I have had a tendency my whole life to use music for more detrimental reasons and when I detoxed from it I was positives. But you, and many others may have a different experience and that's fine ❤
@@JakPiggott I agree

I’ll get to more comments later but I just want to clear something up:
This is strictly my experience and I have a bad rap for using music for negative reasons and not positives. I have found it very beneficial by using it less and I’ve seen a lot of positive effects.
I should have mentioned this in the video -> Music is not the problem, why you use it is the problem. And that’s the same for many other bad habits like video games.
But this is just me and you may be different, music may help you tremendously, and if it does, keep listening to it, just being honest here bois and sharing from my own experiences ❤️
Me personally, I don't excessively listen to music, mostly I just listen to the Minecraft 1.18 soundtrack when I do my work, and I know that it can have these effects on people. That's why I don't look for a good sound system in my first car (preferably a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible). I use it mostly because it calms me, and that is how it can be to many people. While this specific one doesn't really apply as much as the others to me, it still really helps. It helps me understand why my older brother blasts the loudest, most irritating songs at level 25 on his car's speakers. I used to judge him for this, and now, I understand why. Next time I ride somewhere with him, I'll try to understand that that's just how he deals with stuff. Thank you, Jak, and don't stop making these videos.
Generally music is a distraction, yet some studies say that classical music can help increase mental performance. This is only what some people say, and I do not know whether this is true or untrue, but it's an interesting piece of info.
Bro you are still right keep moving
I cant listen to music. It like just makes my life 40 times harder to focus. And I'm called crazy for not listening but I just can't do it which I guess is good right?
@@SamuelMailhot-ck9zzit is also proven to increase your performance while working out. But guess what? If you get used to it, this level of performance will only be reached with music. You'll basically need it to perform in the new standard music has set, and you'll be addicted to it. Sounds good? Don't think so.
A study was made in a university about music and how it chemically reacts with your brain. One of many is Dopamine. But there are other chemical reactions which are contingencies towards your future decisions. I suggest you guys study more about this, it's mind blowing. i stopped being addicted listening to music 2 years ago i hope your findings help you as it helped me.
I want you to promise me something. Promise to me, that you will never have a sponsor in your video. I know that your channel is growing and that more and more people will want to be your sponsors, but as a channel that goes so deeply into these kinds of topics, I don't want it to be destroyed by ads. You're the first person I met, that has similar mind problems as me and you're really starting to change my life. I was walking in a white, empty room and when I saw one of your shorts, it was like someone opened a door and walked me out of that room. I didn't cross the doorstep yet, but I will soon. Please remain as you are, because I and many other people need you as you are right now.

Nah I never will, I will never promote something for money, I will promote something for free if its genuinely had a positive impact on my life, and if that company wants to pay me for doing that in a non commercial way, I would be glad to. However, I’ll never change up the way I make content for money, that has been my value since day 1. Haven’t done a sponsor yet, and to be honest probably never will

I have to say I tested this for school for a week I didn't listen to music, and I didn't get to my studies, I failed in classes, but when I was able to use music I surpassed a lot of my classmates, so in my opinion I think it depends on the music you listen too.
it does
Damn what type of music do you listen to?
It does bro, music isn't the problem, and I should have mentioned this in the video, but why you listen to it can be a problem, for me, using music productively and in moderation will boost my progress tremendously, it's just how I was using it for the wrong reason that led to negative effects, I'm sure someone who watched this video could relate to me
@@Dread505 as long as it doesn't affect your mood it can be any type of music (by that I mean genre), I mean I listen to metal which has screaming all the time and agressive sounds but that boosts my determination and doesn't affect my actual mood and I do better than 90% of my classmates where most of them listen to rap about drugs and stuff like that and aren't even bothered studying properly. I'm not saying rap is bad for you, I'm just saying that it shouldn't affect your mood and if it makes you procrastinate or you have bad habbits which is caused by music influence on you then get rid of it and replace it with some other type of music then. @@JakPiggott Hey bro keep up the great vids!
The listening to sad music and feeling sorry for myself part was so relatable for me😟
Dude, the timing is so exact. I’m still surprised how you experienced the same thing as me. For me, I listen to rock music on the bus ride to school and home every single day ever since the school year has started, and only recently have I started to notice that it’s acting like a drug for me (I also thought of it as a drug, just like you). Whenever my earphones are out of battery, I instantly get very mad. I literally cannot ride on the bus without music. Then, today, your video popped up and changed my perspective. I have learned today that it’s not about the music itself, it’s about HOW and WHY you use music, and let’s just say I don’t use it as motivation when I’m on the bus. This video has only supported my ongoing thought of quitting listening to music every single day on the bus for no reason, to stop getting the dopamine I seek every morning and afternoon, so that whenever I do listen to music, it’s for a good and productive purpose. If I can’t quit listening entirely, then I’ll probably set schedule at least so it will save my ears too. Now I know you have experienced a similar thing too, so I am ready to put an end to this and use music as a tool and use it for the good and not the bad. I have only recently discovered your videos, but you have no idea how implementing the things you include in your videos is starting to help change my life. Thank you so much Jak, keep up the great work, sharing your experiences and changing lives, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. I’ll be awaiting for your next video ❤️🙏.
I can never understand why so many people like music that much. How does it "motivate"?
@@Sagittarius_AAA Well if you start listening to music a lot then it will eventually get addictive, just like a lot of things. I think music motivates by boosting emotions, arousal, and focus, linking certain songs with activities, fostering a sense of community, and delivering empowering messages through lyrics for most people. I just used it as time pass but now I can’t ride the bus without music, so I am going to stop it.
I remember I was in a round trip in Vietnam, had some other few kids with me around my age, they always listened to music on the bus rides but I didn’t, one day there was an area we could visit and after that we go back to the hotel, but then they found out that the bus ride took like 4 hours so they started whining asking to wait for them to get their music, they didn’t get their music 💀

Honestly, I was a bit skeptical initially cuz a lot of self help content creators would often talk down on music quite a bit. But after watching this, it actually kinda makes sense. It really just depends on why ur doing it. Sometimes its actually a lot more motivational (my run times can drop by 2 minutes with music) but other times it can be a huge bane esp if its distracting.
As for school work, now that i think about it, you could try listening to just one song that makes u most motivated. and listen to it on youtube without the autoplay. i've done it a couple of times and often the initial music helps you accidentally slip into that flow state and after that since there's no music playing, ur in a sustained flow state.
Great video as always mate!
You’re 100% bro. This is exactly my point. It’s all in why you use it. I’ve been listening to music since uploading this video but as you said, I’m not listening to anything on repeat as I still want to feel motivated and fueled by certain songs without my brain building a tolerance to them. I've started only listening to game soundtracks. I've got a playlist of a bunch of my favorites, and its really nice background music. It doesn't take away focus and adds a little bit of flavor to what I'm doing. I've also noticed that because I almost exclusively listen to songs without lyrics now, I haven't had a lot of temptation to just drown myself in music for hours. I will say though, it does kind of make me want to play some old games.
If you like game sound tracks you might enjoy classical music as well! If you don’t already listen to it, I recommend Dvorak or Tchaikovsky. They have some very epic symphonies :)

(Also a little thing that could help if you don't want to ruin the re-play ability of a song you like while doing any of these things is, just listen to some Dixon rave music... It's dope and is always changing so you don't have to worry about re-play ability fatigue, love you guys and always work towards being your best!)
I came across this realisation recently.
So I'm sixteen and a writer (and I often use music when I'm writing.) It helps me slip into the mindframe of where my character/s is (or are) at. I have specific playlist that just help my writing flow better. Whether my character is going through a hard and deep depression or is happy being with friends or in love.
Anyways, recently I misplaced my mp3 player and was like, Oh well, it'll turn up. But when I was writing I couldn't exactly capture the emotions and actions that were happening in the moment. And I realised it's because I don't have music that normally slips me into that routine.
Thanks, for another inspirational video Jak! 🙏❤

I think you were spot on with how music can affect our mental state and namely, our attention spans. For me, I've found it's the type of music I listen to that can affect me negative in certain ways. Maybe using rap as motivation may have been a bad choice for you? I know a lot of the time if I'm feeling depressed, I'd not want to listen to certain sad songs that I have, and when I'm happy in the moment, the last thing I want is a sad song to ruin the moment for me. There's nothing wrong with using music as a tool as you said, but sometimes if you think you're listening to "too much music" it may be helpful to expand your musical taste. I know that I'd never probably listen to rap myself, but I can appreciate it as art. After listening to some raps as a critical listening experience, I've found I've been able to determine what I do and don't like aboiut the genre, and find music adjacent to the genre, or different rap subgenres that I enjoy. Now, if I want to put myself in the headspace that rap does, I have a list of songs that do that. Same with classical, Techno/EDM, and more. So, one of the things that may help if you're using the music you usually listen to to escape, is find different music. Take an album that you heard is good, an EP, heck even just a single song, and only listen. You may find it helps a lot.
well, i dont really listen to music. people call me weird, but i didnt really had an urge to listen in to it.
Hey Jak, please make a vid on how to keep a strong momentum going in productivity! I feel like your self improvement journey had been consistent overall. Im sure you also experience dips but i was wondering if you had any tips!
This is why ive started only listening to podcasts and audio books during workouts.
I feel your video very personal as I'm also a big hip-hop or rap music fan. I play it all the time. I waste hours searching new songs, the instrumentals, making my playlists, and so...
If you really think about it, you waste big chunks of time when you work out with music as normally you select specific songs to hear, scroll down, play it, wait for the "pump" or high part of the song and so... I experimented working out in silence and the entire exercise list took me about 45 minutes, when with earbuds was about 1 hour or more. Another big important thing: you better listen your body/breath! And avoid dumb injuries and poor execution techniques.
Hey bro. I watch your vids and short and love your perspective on life and things. I haven’t been in the best place mentally and your helped me a lot. Keep it up bro.👊✌️

I love these videos so much. I’ve only seen a few of these videos and I can’t believe how much has changed.
I listen to music for like 10 minutes in the morning while I am brushing my teeth and dressing up and these things. It helps me to do them faster, so I won’t come late to school. Instead of depressing rap you should try stuff like metalcore or any other rock genre. It pumps you up without these deep feelings of loneliness. I used to listen to rap too, so I know what you are talking about, so I think changing the genre helps too and also not listening to music when you don’t need to. I don’t need music much while working out because I can still push to failure and I don’t listen to music earlier than 7 PM
Yeah I kinda agree. I also listen to metal music and I absolutely love it. I even play guitar. I also listened to rap music a lot like a year ago, and to be honest that time was like the worst of my life. Usually the lyrics are only about drugs and women that makes you think on only the bad aspects of life that people promote. Ever since I started listeming to metal everything got better. I nevee though until I saw this video that music was a bad thing, and I still dont. But the music you listen to might really affect you, even if you dont realize it.
Yeah you're probably right, the only music I genuinely listen to is rap music and some phonk music, I haven't really been exposed to other genres so that's probably why I have a more negative than positive experience with it
Van Halen?
It depends on what you're listening to. For me, music has taught me to hold on, to keep calm, to channel my anger, frustration, pain, hatred in a direction that does not harm anyone. Music taught me how to embrace myself, my emotions, my shortcomings, the good, the bad, everything. It's what I stand for and will protect till the day I live. As for someone who's been passionate about music since childhood and aiming to be a singer/songwriter, practicing music is where I find solace, peace, a place where I can vent myself out, a place where I can truly be myself without the fear of any judgement, I won't be alive without it. That's my perspective and I understand that it doesn't have to be the same way for everyone.
Yeah, most kids now listen to fast pace lord rap music, it really depends on what you listen to
Damn dude i never new that an everyday thing had such a big impact on me.
I mean most people use it to escape reality but i think people should try and use it to make them selves feel good
love the content man❤❤
100% man, music is not a good or bad thing, but how you use it can positively or negatively effect you 👊
I can definitely see both sides of this argument. I feel like my love of music stems from the fact that im a musician, but even then i would still probably love music. As someone who has anxiety issues and (probably) ADHD, i find music very helpful as a way to escape from my fear and worry, and to focus on better and more important things. I always listen to music while doing homework because it helps me focus and feel motivated to actually accomplish something.
This is actually something taught in Islam, specifically saying the heart cannot love the Quran and music simultaneously. Very interesting to see this from a different perspective
🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well, every mornings and every night, I come home from school after spending an hour in common transport, and music is really helpful to make the time go faster. I listen to music every time I work or draw, and it mostly fade in the background after a bit because of how concentrated I am. Sometimes it doesn't because I don't want to work so it gets all my attention, but in the end it just helps me get things done. I don't listent to music to sleep or to wake myself up, those time must be quiet. Sometimes I drown myself in when I feel really bad but it's not too often so it's okay. Yes, I often imagine myself else where when there is only music, but even if there isn't I would do it too.
I have not finished the video, only two minutes in but I’m gonna write this. Music is just like anything else. It’s just like drugs or alcohol or anything like that, a huge dopamine rush. Which you basically said towards the end, not the exact wording something similar. I have noticed what it does for me personally, I listen to all types of music but I’ve pulled off. With the car though, if I don’t have my AirPods in or music on, it’s constant dissociation, honestly without even music. The car is just, being able to hear everything on these new cars… I seriously can’t explain the constant dissociation in my life it’s scary. I definitely listen to rap or the modern pop and such, way less than like country or rock/metal or even EDM. With those three genres, I notice a difference in my mood. It’s a sedative. But see, with no real family other than my mom (all abusive and toxic and narcissistic it has just never worked with any of them, I’ve had to be the mature one being younger) I’d rather not be around those people. I haven’t seen a single friend in over two years, one who I hardly talk to now at 19 years old. I don’t even know if we’re friends anymore, but he’s one of the reasons I just want to work and work and work, wanting to better myself and shit.
All of my interactions are online, despite most of them being in my area or even family friends who I get along with way more, and are more family like than my own family. Things like that, it’s enough to keep anyone up at night or constantly dissociated.
I share all this because I use music as a jack of all trades basically. Sometimes it’s motivation, other times it’s to escape, it’s also to just better understand myself.
edit: my comment is long, but I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work and thank you

This is probably one the most recent realization I've had, and also one of the biggest. I'm only 13, I hope what I say is still somewhat understandable and relatable. Last year I was addicted to music, I think that's the best thing to call it. At school most work was on the computer, I would use earbuds and use them every minute throughout the school day, at home, when I went outside to walk I listened to music, when I was in the car I would use my mom's phone to listen to music. I used my airpods and earbuds I got an ear infection twice. In my opinion, it was the reason I lost so many friendships. I didn't interact with anyone in my class, I didn't interact with my family. This year I when to a different school, this was a school I went two years ago, I'm glad some people still bothered to remember me. In this school most of the work was on a computer and at this time I didn't have a phone. I feel like some sort of God made this happen, there were so many people suddenly trying to talk to me. I felt like there was nothing that needed to be filled with music. A few months later I got my phone, I went straight to listening like I did before, but it just didn't feel the same anymore, it felt like music was annoying.
I don't hate music now, I play piano. To me, the piano is the greatest gift I could ever get, it might sound weird to say, but I feel saved by it and I'm glad I didn't give up on it last year. From my piano I met my music teacher; who talks too much and ends up giving me life advice, I was able to go to a church to be an accompanist, from that I met so many other musicians, from that I could perform for others; the thing that I probably wished for the most from last year. I didn't reread and I have bad english (please correct my english if I'm wrong) so sorry for the bad writing!
Short answer: this is a good thing to tell teens, I have a lot of friends who listen to music everyday, one of them told me they listen to it even while they sleep; result: they all procrastinate. Saying music is like a drug is accurate.
Man... I'm a musician Wtf Am I supposed to do? 💀

Thank you for everything Jak, you are my main source of motivation
Comments like these are my main source of motivation as well bro, I hope you know that ❤
Jak this was an amazing video (not that your other ones arent because they are also incredible) but this one had a huge impact on me and it wasn't something i had thought about before, why do i use music? or why do i listen to it? I wouldn't consider myself addicted but i did get me thinking, sometimes its just a distraction for me or something that doesn't help me. But to see you discuss this topic with as much wisdom as you have was really interesting, and i found out why i use music. I personally do use it as a tool, i listen to more mellow stuff when im doing art or writing or homework and it does help me. It gets me more focused, it helps me enjoy doing these things which i enjoy but adds another element to it. Or if im working out or just feeling a bit bored i listen to hard rock or rap. But if I'm in a good mood but with not much to do then i might listen to pop or pop rock. Anyways i just wanted to say thank you for putting out this video, sorry if it was a bit of a long comment to read but i just really wanted to give my 2 cents regarding this topic. Thanks man love you and your videos
I just got rejected by a girl with whom i was friends with for over a year maybe because i am skinny af. I got extremely motivated to work on myself and gain some muscles. Well I'm consistent at exercising and eating everyday only because of the music because i have no friends and thats the only thing that i can relate to. Whenever im not listening to music i have no motivation to work or learn something new. This video really helped me a lot to understand what i was doing wrong. Thank you so much ❤. It was the most relatable video i have ever watched.
I honestly listen to too much music. It gets to the point where my favourite songs are just boring because I listen to them too much. Thank you for the vid brother
I doubt that half of the people here know my favorite artists. Thats besides the point, you are right Jak, Im going to consider this next time Im listening to music.
Hi Jak, I hope you see this.
A week ago I watched your Video about "how you should no stress about your V Card (where you spoke about your friend who lost his)". When I watched it, I thought it wouldnt happen to me 1. Because I wouldnt stress about it and 2. Because no friend of mine was in that state. Out of nowhere 6 days after watching the video, Yesterday: me and my best friend were just hanging around in Discord and then he tells me about how he lost his V Card some weeks ago. I was happy for him at the start and thought it was kinda funny, but 50 minutes later, we were still in Discord, it really hit me. I was feeling really... empty. Im probably gonna get over it in a week or two.
I'm having the opposite problem of having zero music taste and rarely ever listening to any music at all if not forced to. I know all the benefits music offers for everyday routines but I don't gain any motivation from listening to it while doing something productive. Music is not a distraction from work for me nor a efficiency boost.. it just kinda exists.
listiong to music helps when your stressed out i get stressed out when my parents are arguing so without music to listion when it happens gives me high anxity
yea same i just vibe and be in the present moment
I don't usually need music to work but I listen to music while I'm on the bus, and it basically blocks out the outside world, so I just have my own thoughts. I personally play guitar so I like to listen and try to figure out what they are playing. But I get what you mean by escaping, sometimes you can get lost in the music, and you're out of the moment.
I think I know the problem, he was listening to lil pump💀
I can’t live without music. I love it. Love a lot of genres. Eminem probably being my favourite but I also love Michael Jackson and the Weeknd so different genres as well. In the middle of my GCSE’s now but music makes me happy and makes me motivated to do it. It benefits me
i usually listen to NEFFEX to motivate me, hype me, you know what i mean? i usually use music to calm me for studying, so its safe to say music is my tool
bro music isn't as bad as scrolling through fucking short videos. Now that fucks up your attention span
great video though, keep it up!
What he is saying is quite right . Even i listen music like crazy . I used it as an escape rather than for my own benefit . I wanted to reduce it , but man it is like drug . And i thought , it's normal . I am pursuing engineering and you literally need to devote a hell lot of time with intense focus to survive it . But , i think listening to excessive music kinda destroyed my attention span and my ability to focus . Gonna get back on track 😅😅
i play a lot of instruments and thats what i do. I dont listen to rap at all but metal and that sort of stuff, wich i dont think is bad at all. its just even if it is better to stop i wont because its what i do in life
Same, my man! What are your favorite bands? I've been jamming the new Knocked Loose lately.
@@28unfinishedprojects30 i absolutley love Bring Me The Horizon, mostly sempiturnal but In Flames is very good to

@@chodowski_legacy would you give up 7 years of your hobbies cuz he told you its "bad"
Im addicted to music too, i sleep with the radio on but i find it easier to focus with music, without music i actually get very distracted and get bored easily, music helps me with everything, though a lot of people say music is bad and a distraction and has no use, i highly disagree with them cuz i wouldn't get anything done without music, though i thank you for making this video and the others like this, this video just isnt for me😊thank u though❤❤
I listen to music to motivate myself to make myself feel confident and prepared for what's coming for my future.
Type of music is really important. Isfahan makam for example has an effect that boosts production and allows you to carry on when you are stuck on an essay etc.
what about religious music
If you use it for a positive reason (which I'm sure you do) listen to it bro, The only music I'm talking about in this video is the music that tends to effect you more negatively than positively such as real intense modern day rap music
@@JakPiggott thanks man much love and keep up the good work
Jak needs to start a podcast man, he has such a nice voice and his content 👍👍👍👍
I'm sometimes addicted to music but I never listen always , it's just when I need to get my mind of bad things and when I'm happy or when I do long cold showers that's when I need it 🙂
I feel like music makes things around you, feel significant, cool, right. music gives you emotions,
you can watch a video full of half truths but with really touching music and it will trick you into believing lies and it might be actually be because of the music

This my friends, is called toxic optimisation.
Now music is bad for u?
It matters what music you listen to. Like if you listen to a lot of sad music then all of a sudden you might start feeling depressed for no reason. It takes an influence over you that is why.
No, why you listen to it can be bad, same with basically any bad habit, it matters more why you do it more than the action itself if that makes sense
Yes, it is. It is a drug, just as explained in the video, and there should be no way around consuming any type of drug. I'd rather not be a slave to dopamine spikes found within music, and so should everyone. ❤️
Yes cuz it takes you out of reality. Like when ur in the gym you got music to motivate you but what you gonna do when there's no music? Life won't have any music score like some movie. It's not that bad, just use it properly and have discipline with it
Not inherently bad.
But addiction is bad regardless of the what the “substance” is.
If you can’t focus and/or you revolve your daily life around the addiction then it’s obviously not good for you no matter what the addiction is
Jak, thank you for making these videos. I’ve been struggling lately, and your videos genuinely make me feel better. I feel seen because of you. Keep doing what you do man, you’re helping so many people. You’re a legend.
I mainly just play Christian and country music I don't really listen to rap anymore Now I have a boosted self esteem
I feel the same, but I chose metal because I am on a darker path, XD
same bro... emo rap, country, and Christian is my go to. I'm trying to get out of listening to harmful music like thug rap
@@agsicodpslahavwshxausudusi7327same lmao, i listen to rock and metal songs
I listen to classical music (it's not that boring, it depends on the piece) and I have to have a very well attention span to enjoy all the details of a 1 hour long symphony.

This video did help, but the reason I listen to music is to calm down, I have migraines/ aura I get stressed easily, I don’t fit in with gen z, they are loud, obnoxious and annoying, I don’t use it to escape reality, I use it to help in the reality of life. I know you might not read this, but I’ve discovered your channel a few days ago, I gotta say, you’ve changed my perspective on life, I’ve also had a “corn” addiction, really bad.. like 4 times every day, and for the first time I went one full day without it, and I gotta say, I feel fucking amazing!! From one man to another, thanks.
you know the only "music" that i today as soon to be college grads is just 1 hour lofi or calm music that help me soothes my wake up and grumpy brain by meditating or reading
still have hard time to not quit corn jub but still changing small matter first like not playing phone for 1 hour after wake up or not playing phone while bathroom
tommorow it will be less frequence phone while workout
This guy has unrivaled self control
In our islam religion music is forbidden ❤
Jesus loves you christianity is the only religion to get to heaven
In Islam, everything that is forbidden is harmful
Allah (God) truly loves us😊
Is marrying a prepubescent girl forbidden?
that must suck
As someone who listens to (almost) all genres, I primarily listen to music to appreciate the artistry in it, from classical to phonk to Deathcore, as a musician I really did find this video intriguing, keep up the motivation Jak, best regards🍻
As a muslim this made me better understand the reason why its forbidden.
People listen to rap because of how good the beat sounds, it’s the generic crappy lyrics about drugs money and sex that make it bad and corrupt your mind over time.
@@RobotDude375I hate rap tbh
Btw Is it forbidden if the song has meaningful lyrics not some crap rap drug songs etc
@@ArdaU Music is forbidden brother even if there are meaningful lyrics
I like how you actually care to reply to people.
It shows that you really genuinely care.

Man only if I saw this video in quarantine..
I was so depressed during that moment I use to listen to music to escape reality. It was like a drug for me that I cant spend single moment without it. My real world felt more empty and meaningless. But now I when I look back I feel like dang I wasted so much time crying and thinking about stuff that I might never have. But If I just realized how it was harming my inside thoughts earlyer I might have been more successful then I am now.
I also dont listen to music very often and I do listen to it when I need like a boost out my work and all and I think like this feels much better.
I listen to music to feel... Im attached to music emotionally because it helped drown out arguments between family in car rides, it's my happy and safe space, it's my therapy, i will say i couldn't live without it, but it brings me so much joy and songs can make me feel such powerful emotion that i wouldn't take away from my worst enemy
I use it to block things out. Both outside and inside. Without music I get in my head to much and my head is not a very good place. It also allows me to keep others out because people tend to avoid people listening to music. I think music actually saved me though. There was a point where i didn't listen to music and I was in a really dark place. After I started to listen to music it was able to let me focus on things not in my head and get through the day without having bad thoughts. So in a way music did save me.
Its lowkey crazy, I randomly got bored of music and i haven't actually vibed to a song in a couple months and its nice to step back and take a break from it.
As a teen that is heavily addicted to music since the 7th grade (since I started playing guitar and making music myself at the time) I first thought that the title indicated positive views about it, but I never imagined that somebody could show music in a "bad" light.
I can't live a second without music and I 100% agree that music is a fucking drug that both saved and negatively impacted my life.
After watching this video my perspective changed a LOT and I'll try doing the same as you, using music as a tool and not abusing it like a drug. Thank you for this
I make drum and bass and other genres myself. I listen to music daily, when at home, when going shopping, almost all day yet I don't consider myself addicted, I just really really like it. I once wanted to test if I'm addicted so I tried to stay for a week without any music whatsoever. Surprisingly, it was very easy, I did not have any issues or withdrawals. I also didn't feel a rush when listening again after the break.
Hey man, just wanted to say how much I appreciate the type of content you make. I just recently found your channel the other day and it has helped me so much. You provide so much insight that people need to hear. The problems that are talk about are issues that I can connect to. One of the only people on this app who genuinely helps their community. Love what you do. Keep up the great work.
I've been listening to jazz and classical a lot the past few years and I've loved it. It keeps you stable and it's a way to feel in the moment.
Hmmm this is something I've never even thought of. Music has been an escape for me, but I think it's more constructive than destructive as it has been for you. When I feel sad and I listen to sad songs, it helps me process the feelings and then let them go. I don't get stuck in there. And then when I feel great, I'll listen to hype songs, often ones that I've written myself. Simply because I enjoy it and it doesn't damage my ability to appreciate the life I live. It's about the experience and the moment and being in love with the art. I am a music producer too, been writing for 10 years.
Music can make you so powerful and you don’t even realize it. I run A LOT and I don’t listen to music most of the time, but whenever I do, I can completely ignore the pain and fatigue that comes with running.
You know as someone who’s 16 it feel rather amazing having someone that’s only two years older than you giving you amazing advice the average wise 50 year old person would, content is truly inspiring fr. ❤
I used to use music for the wrong reasons and I noticed my mood was the worst it could be and it was really hard to wake up and do anything at all. At first listening to these depressing songs made me feel like I wasn’t alone but over time is consumed me and just keep me at that same lonely numb state every single day. It wasn’t until I started listening to different music that I noticed my mood changing. Of course I’m still depressed, that hasn’t changed, but the way I deal with life has certainly been for the better. I still have unproductive days that I end up just listening to music I relate to because there isn’t anything else I can do, but i feel most days have been a lot better. I’ve been waking up at 3am and going to sleep early so I can do work that I was too tired to do the previous day. I settled down for hours doing tons of work. Right now I’m handling 6 classes in school and 3 online. I’m sometimes going to the gym (working on a schedule lol) and I’m spending a lot less time on my phone and playing games or reading comics that take up most of my day. Just glad I’ve found a medium where I just listen to music most of the time because it sounds hella good.
I get your point, and I use phonk music to push myself beyond my limits to do something I usually can't do.
But I use it as a tool, AND drug which is just wrong
Dear Jack, you just opened my eyes❤
You’re on the right path my lil bro. No porn, no music - that’s amazing progress for someone your age.
That video is so ironic because reels, tiktoks and shorts are what ruin attention spans
I listen to music mostly game or movie orchestras or classical music, rarely modern music mostly to emotionally stimulate myself. I also realised that if a game doesnt have a music no matter how good the gameplay is I usually dont like it very much which is kinda stupid now that I think about it...I also listen to music from my childhood to stimulate that beautifull addicting nostalgic feeling (looking at you Jak for using that Minecraft OST 😅)
