    This looks good. Is it 3/8C of lemon juice or 3/4C?

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  7 месяцев назад

      It is 3/4 cup of lemon juice. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    how long for qts processing ? what size pie did you make with pts ?

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  4 месяца назад

      Quarts process for 40 minutes. I usually just use 2 pints and make a 9 inch pie. One will work fine for it I just like a lot of filling in my pie. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    I watched and this seems simple enough, but where did you get the clear gel? Never used this before but seems quick and easy. Thank you for the recipe! Hey when you crack open the phalf pint for ice cream...call me! HaHa

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  Год назад

      You can get the clear gel off Amozon. Already ate the half pint and it was really good over vanilla ice cream. Thanks for watching

    Looks like it’s a mushy texture strawberry filling

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  3 месяца назад

      It really isn’t mushy at all. It is the best pie filling I have ever made. I make this 2-3 times per year and use it in pies, cobblers and even with ice cream. Thanks for watching.

    How long do you heat up clear jel before or starts getting thick before you put in strawberries?

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  Год назад +1

      It only takes a few minutes for it to start thickening once it starts getting hot. You can add the strawberries as soon as it starts getting thick. You will definitely be able to tell when it starts to thicken. You only need the strawberries in long enough to heat up some before removing from the heat and ladle them into your jars. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    Sounds like a lot of clear jel. Does it clear up during canning process?

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  8 месяцев назад

      Yes. It will clear up. You can’t see any clear jel in it.

    You can't use Sure Jell in a sweet pie filling? Since when?

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  8 месяцев назад

      Sure jel is for jellies and is not safe for pie fillings when canning. It gets too thick for pie fillings. Clear jel is the only thickener that has been tested and approved for canning pie fillings. Sure jel is approved for canning jellies. Thanks for watching.

    • @adamchurvis1
      @adamchurvis1 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@billchism2935 Serious questions: Who says it is not safe for canning, and why is that so? Who tested and approved Clear Jel but (presumably) did not approve Sure Jell? Who told you that Sure Jell's only application is in the canning of jellies, and why is that so?
      Also, can you tell me where I can find these claims?
      I promise I'm not trying to waste your time. This is an important topic for me. Your guidance is very much appreciated.

    I made it today and every jar over ran In canner.your measurement for lemon seemed off

    • @billchism2935
      @billchism2935  8 месяцев назад

      I use the same measurements every time I make it. I never had a problem with the strawberry running over. Apple pie filling will if you don’t leave extra headspace.
