I'm barely even familiar with the concept of a car payment. Is there something about the USA that means everyone pays a mortgage on their cars? Here in UK I spent £1500 on an indestructible Toyota Yaris with 26, 000 (5 figures) miles on the clock. The most reliable moving object ever built by the hand of man, and immaculate at that. purchased Tesla back in JAN 2020. Rode it up through both splits. I just got out a few days ago - went into gold and Bitcoin etf's. I'd buy actual Gold and Bitcoin right now, but money is in a self directed IRA, so I can't withdraw it.
Economy is perhaps teetering on the brink of a massive correct - not the time to be in stocks IMHO.
Advise is to not sell the TSLA shares yet. As you can see the price hit around 108 in Dec 2022 and after 2 months exact it was back in 200's level. So this is for a long term hold.

What you said makes no sense, inflation is temporary, as I'm writing this, rent is going down in most places. A mortgage is 30 years, many times, your payments won't go down. Look at the early 80's, inflation came down after a few years. It looks like the average people renting will go way higher according to some people.
Normally buying a house has been more expensive than renting, most people know this. This is not a normal situation, COVID, all the f. Stimulus to the economy, inflation is linging, but most likely it will go down within the next 20 months.
