The final drive was no hyperbole one of the best I ever seen. No flags that extended the drive, they weren't dink and dunks where the WR got a ton of YAC yards. It was 6 plays all down the field all precise and the final 2 throws were veteran QB spectacular. I can't wait to see him as he progresses and do it against some of the better defenses like we saw with the likes of Mahomes, Burrow or a few years ago Brees, Brady and Manning.
Yeah that’s the crazy part about it! No matter what defense he was going against. Most QBs couldn’t do that as well. He stood tall in the pocket and delivered strikes in big fashion!
He's only 22 years old. It was a great game for him. Cincinnati next, gotta run the ball. Great kid and appears to be the right pick, pump the brakes a little. Go Texans!!1
Your breakdown is on point, CJ understood that Tank Dell needed to flatten out that route on that second pass play. CJ simply threw him into the correction position. This level of understanding goes beyond throwing with anticipation. He is throwing the receivers open and beyond throwing them open, he is throwing them into better positions. More like an elite point guard in basketball. He and the OC are no joke, they are dialing up bombs against veteran defenders, DC's and they are cooking them with ease.
Incredibly insight from an incredibly knowledgeable source. Thanks for the detailed breakdown Chase. As a Texans fan, it was like a religious experience watching CJ against Tampa. CJ Stroud finally makes our fanbase feel like anything is possible, and Sundays are actually fun again. Having a QB that is an actual "guy" is the greatest gift to a football fan. Houston needed this after what we went through with Deshaun
Do not worry about taking to much time with these break downs. I am planning on watching these with our QBs all summer. High School coaches all over this contry THANK YOU!!
As an OSU fan I'm happy for him and have been telling coworkers since he was named the starter this guy can and will shine in the NFL as a rookie and everyone aside from maybe 1 guy said I was crazy. Now as a Bengals fan I hope he does ok against us but not 470 and 5 TDs lol. Been a Bengals fan as long as I can remember and I'll be 40 in just under 5 weeks so had to witness the 90's Bengals which was something no fan deserves to go through 🤢 so we need every single win we can get right now. I am definitely proud of CJ and hope he continues to improve and hopefully the lousy owner they have doesn't ruin it for him by trading away any of his weapons and gets him more talent around him as well.
Your last sentence is an absolute fear we Texans fans have had for a few years. However, I have to say that something changed in ownership attitude this past year and we low key credit the CEO's wife. The family actually owns the team, Cal is CEO. He's always seems like the odd one of the family kids, but his wife Hannah has been more active this past year with the team and gets much love from the fans. I don't think Hannah is going to let anyone "Bill O'Brien" this team. Besides, this is DeMeco's team. Everybody loves DeMeco. :)
been jumping around these stroud vids and you pointing out his release is the validation i needed to make sure i wasn't going crazy. his release defies physics. how he's generating that much power on such a short throwing range is nuts.
Compact throwing motion. His youth coach noticed his throwing motion was different when he was just 8 years old. Natural talent + reps. With the Houston media, he described drills he did with his friends when he was younger to hone his accuracy. He wud have then stand out in the field and he would drop balls to them whether left or right shoulder.
Life long Houstonian here, I'm happy that we might finally have a QB that makes you fearful of time left on the clock. That Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, Manning kind of quality.
@@sandman1347 difference between 7 and 4, 4 made it look like houdini pulling a rabbit out of his ass making miracles. 7 made that look precise and methodical. I'd argue having hop made 4 look better than he was too.
@@seanmikelAbsolutely. 4 was a great houdini and seemed to always make something happen out of nothing. 7 is surgical. This young man doesn't need any houdini tricks because he is going slice and dice the defense. Texans are much better off with 7 than we ever were with 4.
"One of the best performances of the entire weekend"? That's one of the greatest understatements of my entire life. How about, the best performance by an NFL quarterback this year and the greatest performance by a rookie QB in NFL history? I'm so thankful I was there to see it live and had enough sense to stay to the end unlike a lot of other senseless people who were worried about beating traffic.
The thing is, he can beat the blitz!! So team’s adjusted and started to drop guys back and coverage, CJ had to learn and play against more zone and now he is killing it🙏🏽🙏🏽 truly elite

Your assessment of plays and insight are invaluable. Thankyou for your knowledgeable breakdown of how these plays happen. Please stop saying the word "like" for no reason. It detracts from just how MUCH you know.
Chase- I have heard the comp of Drew Brees about CJ. Thoughts? You have spent a lot of time on him so maybe you have a better feel of a player he resembles.
THE GAMEPLAN AND WR TE RUNS ARE MENTLA, THE WIDE OPEN EVERYTIME alot of teams could learn from this runs, seems like they really trust him , and he also delivers throws its great stuff.
When he hurt his AC join prior to the season he first started and couldn’t throw left accurately the whole season, he developed better mechanics. That injury made him “him” today.

@@jacquesonu5905 The Bears would have ruined him, like any QB that ends up going there under the current management and coaching . CJ Stroud has everything you want in a quarterback
That last drive was bringing back Tom Brady-esk vibes. The kid is amazing for sure. Made history like it was just another day in the park.
Couldn't agree more!
Stroud imo is the best rookie QB ever he has all the tools for greatness.
