Who thanks Alexa lmao
This comment needs more likess
So glad they told us the exact measurement of the wheelbase. That's really all I care about. Well, that and the number of antennas.
Amen! They found a way to tell us about everything we could care less about. We need battery specs.
Yep didn't want to know how big the battery is and range but glad I know it has a flat antennae
you guys should actually watch the video instead of trolling.
Battery/charging specs at 6:30
Dumbest battery specs of all time! Still, never mentions kWh of battery, total range or total charge time. Good looking car but w/o more battery specs, not interested.
It literally says all of those things in the time I just linked to you....
What we really need is more mid-range/budget oriented electric cars. Also, it would be great if EV manufacturers could agree on a universal charging port.
Aaron Wafflez leaf? Bolts? Problem is the marketing of those vehicles is terrible, I personally did not see any ads for bolt outside of a small group of tech enthusiasts
Agreed. The cost of the battery at the moment is prohibitive for this, though leasing or borrowing will lessen the per month cost to a level that should make it competitive, considering fuel and maintenance savings.
Those who like to buy cheaper cars with cash to avoid lease/interest costs, well they'll just have to wait.
We can't even get Apple to adopt a standard charging port.
CCS is basically the universe port, with the exception being in Japan.
Aaron Wafflez um that’s called price fixing and is illegal in America
Everything works in a PowerPoint - Elon
As a huge Tesla fan and Model 3 reservation holder, I think this is great. Competition makes it a win win for us and the EV industry as a whole.
cameron harper competition in the sense that it's another high end EV in the market. I didn't say it was just as good. But we shall see on that point
I think it looks a little too crammed with all sort of stuff and features, that it just cannot be practical. Seems to be designed to raise money, not to be a useful car. Painting a picture of a future that, in reality, hinges upon so much more than a car.
One thing they haven´t cracked about Tesla, and that´s honesty in communication.
Wow a Tesla fan who don't put down any new competition?
You are a rare breed my friend
Now introducing Faraday future 2.0
* *crowd applauding* *
TheJonasShow no one applauded. This presentation shows no interesting information.
Michael Bertolino not an argument. they straight up showed nothing special.
Also starting at 45k, not 100k plus like the Faraday was supposed to
This is a very emotional moment for you....
Wooow, hold on there buddy. Aren't you a little presumptuous?
I'm with you if thats what he meant, but it doesnt sound like English is his first language and he must have been nervous so perhaps he meant to say: 'This is an emotional moment for us'?
I thought he meant 'us'. A verbal mistake.
Haha 😂
LOL, I think his English is not so good-looking.
Thanks Alexa
All of that for 45k is actually pretty amazing. I just hope it wont get stuck in production hell like Faraday Future...
Production!? Faraday isn't in production hell...it's just hell.
That’s just the base price. What’s shown is most likely the top model
Rosh P yeah that won't happen
He's assuming tesla will no longer innovate by saying it will be the most advanced by 2019. He's far behind with the lack of charging networks (superchargers) placed all over the country and growing rapidly everyday. To say RIP Tesla, is way too early. I am glad to see competition. It drives innovation, and lowers price.
1 thing is for sure that screen in the steering wheel has to go cuz you dont want it to explode in your face toghether with your airbag. Unless they found a way to not need an airbag but since the only 2 safety features they found worth explaining was stupid camera's and a system to lower distractions I doubt it.
"very emotional moment for YOU?"
Maybe he was addressing the investors in the front seats...
"Safety is our first priority"
*replaces airbag with a tablet*
And what's up with all those makers replacing mirrors with cameras? Ever heard of the need for eye contact between drivers?
Cuz drag. Besides you dont have eye contact between drivers anyway
I don't think the car is missing airbags.
Zahari Stoyanov - that tablet better be Sponge Mounted or else dead driver.
The Airbag is behind the Byton Name under the tablet screen on the steering wheel. They wouldn’t forget that car wouldn’t make it pass Inspection. Every has to go through crash tests to make its safe to drive. We won’t see this Vehicles till 2020. Over in China they bringing there Car manufacturers GAC Motors too America Next Year look it up. They only bring one ☝️ at the moment it’s a SUV they also have a Minivan made for grown ups it’s a Luxury Minivan.
Instead of all this gimmicky tech, why can't they just make a affordable simple electric car.
Status.
Attention and it would be boring. Company’s need to establish themselves with flashy shiny things.
Nissan leaf?
Focus on an e car with very good driving dynamics and very good range and people may buy it, even without the bunch of silly gimmicks.
HERRO Model 3? They are struggling to build them
Faraday 2
that what in my mind too... lol just change the body shape.
Electric boogaloo
Even the badge looks Faraday. And what's up with that name!?
lvlaple4Ever it’s far from that.
At least they have a production plant you idiot. i think they are onto something
it's something about that botched Faraday presentation that makes me really skeptical of companies other than tesla delivering on such a complicated product like an electric car
Roy Tesla WERE delivering, they are now failing at an important hurdle IE upscaling...
They seem very amateur
What about Lucid motors?
Jan-Mikail Aslar I haven’t seen anything cringey from Lucid Air yet, but I also haven’t heard any popular tech you tubers talk about those guys in awhile.
Roy I agree that there is not much information available for the air. But it’s still a beautiful car and a great concept
Me: Alexa give me directions to the closest Mcdonalds.
Alexa: It appears that you bodyfat and cholesterol levels are extremely high. I am unable to provide directions.
Me: Fine Ill use my phone then to navigate
Me: Ok Google Navigate to the closest Mcdonalds
Alexa: Disabling all cellular network connections in vehicle.
Me: Wtf, Alexa I command you to reenable the cellular network.
Alexa: I'm sorry but this is for your own good :)
Me: Fine Ill just drive around and look for one
Alexa: Manual Override has commenced
Me: Wth Alexa did you just lock the steering wheel and acceleration pedal?
Alexa: Yes I did, welcome to the future :)
Me: You know what Ill just walk there
Alexa:Child safety locks initiated :)
Me: MotherF*@3$3%(*@3!!!
bioroid09 llllooooolll
bioroid09 llllooooolll
Me: You know what Ill just walk there
Alexa: Good you could use the exercise! It's 4 miles away, have fun!!
This had me howling! HAHA
Hahahahahahahahahahaha 😂
Sounds a lot like Faraday Future
Davi Gutkin Yes sir!
This one is not named after a scientist (afaik), and they don´t have a factory planned in Nevada, so at least they have something of their own. That is, not trying to simply ride on Tesla´s fame and formula like FF.
It is another fraud car company from China, just like FF.
Meanwhile on Vaporware island...
I remember that video about faraday
The car gives you health diagnostics and advice? Why??
Joe Nicholls it needs know if you are high. so it can automatically ask alexa to take you the nearest police station.
This is what happens when you throw money aimlessly at a problem trying to keep up.
Compare this to the $2 billion budget to NASA has to work their Mars program.
Exactly!
I'd guess that the car says "drive slower" if it sees your heart rate going up :)
NIO EP9 already does that. But that is a Racing Car soo it makes sense.
There is too much gizmos crammed into the car. Should have been simpler. Face recognition for entry to the car? What is wrong with a key.
arijit patra spot on! There are so many needless elements to this car that also create more things to break. It looks like a case of dumbing down the driver and completely takes away the joy of driving.
You lose your key at least once in your life or lock it in your car and I don’t think you lose your face
Dean Dollahite you saw how well the face recognition worked at the Apple X launch? And this vehicle is a hackers dream. Give me a humble key any day!
Yes, true but a car is supposed to be rugged. If for instance the sensors get damaged due to excessive heat/ cold/weathering you will have to pay quite a lot to repair it.
Salty Pretzel encryption could solve that problem the only thing that could crack it is a quantum computer
Well I hope they won't die like Lucid / Fisker / Faraday Future
Fisker just patented the solid state battery technology.
nah theyre chinese, so you know their pockets are deep
They will go down in a very unique way.
Fisker isn't dead either
Fisker is a joke tbh
These guys seem passionate about what they're doing, and I really hope they are able to get this thing on the market. The automotive industry is ruthless to newcomers, but I'm glad so many people are trying.
honestly after seeing those honda urban ev and sport ev concepts at the tokyo motor show, i'm not looking forward to anything else
go look them up, they look incredibly good
Ryukachoo i just googled them and I can't stop laughing 😂. Idk why though, they look awesome.
They look boring and overly retro.
You will NEVER see those available for purchase. Nothing even remotely close.
Oscar Lee Thats a matter of opinion. I like the small one, the retro civic/vw rabbit looking one
Won't really suit my lifestyle, but they are a crazy good looking car! If I was young again, or older without kids, or looking for a second car, definitely would be high on the shortlist.
Those Skinny jeans tho
haha i swear they co-ordinated skinny jean and a cup to make their crotch look bigger
Every German dude thinks they look swank in those skinny jeans. Weird, huh?
C'mon man
Yeah totally straight but i clocked that immediately
Calling it, 2018's new meme, "Thanks Alexa"
Seems like they're trying too hard
they have to
Mrdachs8 Yup.
You usually have to do that when show casing concepts so you can attract investors
They thru everything in it to attract attention!
Just something else they'll throttle every other year
Logo Looks like dbrands one rotated 90 degrees
"Byton will be affordable... $45.000". The annual median income in the US was $31.100 in 2016...
I think the average price of a new car is around 30k so not that far off.
The world welcomes Byton to the industry, godspeed.
Nothing about speed, acceleration, range.
The Verge editors skipped it. For a split second they did show the Chart of Specs.
Battery: 71 kWh for 350 km (217 miles) or 95 kWh for up to 500 km (311 miles)
Drivetrain: 200 kW rear-wheel drive or 350 kW all-wheel drive (200 kW rear motor and additional 150 kW front motor)
Great. I see now at 6:28 the info. Thanks.
Deutsch-English ist einfach nur cringe
GadMas Senk ju! 😂
It's called Denglisch
So you as english nativ speakers should hold a speech in fluent german on a tech conference. Challenge is open guys ... so come on and show your talent.
I could. Cause I am a native German speaker. But my English is way less cringy. You have to actually want to speak another language. Change how you phonetically create sounds. It's way more complex than just vocabulary and grammar. And you can tell when people normally just avoid other languages as much as possible. They should have been able to find someone who enjoys talking in English a bit more. I couldn't listen to the whole thing cause it's just tiring to listen to...Presentations like these are about conveying emotion. Make someone exited! A good presentation is way more than just pretty slides and tech nitty gritty. It's psychology.
That cars looks like 2020 😂😂
Generally speaking, when something sounds too good to be true, it’s too good to be true.
A glass screen in the steering wheel, "safety is very important to Byton" ohh is it when the airbags go off you now get glass shrapnel in your face. This is why you don't do that
Wow it’s almost ready for production
Very impressive. I will be watching your company in the years to come and I wish you success with all of this.
"You can see that traditional elements gave nearly disappeared."
Meh, looks kind of like everything else to me.
ksampsondavis Wing Mirrors have disappeared, and door handles lol
Troop a loop!
Nathan D HLD!
like idk all conceptcars these days..
Fallen in love with their features 😍 Amazing🙏
Amazing car
If you crash you face will be on that display 😂 permanently!
Renault Espace had rotating front seats back in 1998 , just saying
Seems like everyone can make a car now .
I hope they make it, Can't wait to see it in Norway.
I’m just impressed they found 2 guys who sound absolutely identical.
Why all this bloatware is this a car or just a computer
talat804 what bloatware? Amazon Alexa?
I might be using the wrong term..is this for future proofing the vehicle when they can fully drive by their self's
All cars are computers, or that is the trend.
And lets be honest this is a good thing, since autonomous driving is coming...
While everybody else are just talking, tesla is already making this cars
Did anyone else imagine sitting down in the seat and having Alexa pipe up with, "You feel five pounds heavier. You might want to reconsider eating that donut"?
Will be a good car design for *an automated taxi.*
It's very interesting that Byton chose to have their HQ and factory in China. Looks like Germany lost some competitive advantage, otherwise they would not build a factory in China. Or maybe their main investor was Chinese.
LABOR IS MUCH CHEAPER IN CHINA THAN IN GERMANY
Labor might not be the cheapest now but its chain supply of batteries, drivetrain, logistic is fantastic. I very much prefer a non-china made car.
China has huge import taxes to encourage their own auto industry. If you build your cars there you can avoid the taxes. Tesla is planning to build a factory there too.
Germany just doesnt has enugh labour to fill the companys needs, they are now already struggeling to fill all the Jobs
You are correct. In fact, the CEO and the president of the company(dont know what that means) are both former BMW managers. BMW has lost almost everyone that had design their i3 because they are to slow and still are trying to sell their old filthy diesel...
When VW, BMW, Mercedes and all their sub brands, comes with a serious line up of electric cars in 2019. These type of companies will quickly die.
Svt Trips GM and Ford already dead as the Model 3 is #1 in EV sales and the TESLA pickup coming in 5 years , perhaps less.
My first Renalt Espace from 1988 had turnable front seats.
YAWN this is so boring, they are doing too much, make a car first
the first car tesla made was the roadster, everyone always forgets that,
BABY STEPS!!!
Atif Hassan These manufacturers are trying to be Essential when they need to be One Plus.
DH Shawon fantastic analogy
And what steps are you taking? Byton is a very promising start up.
The design looks like a Range Rover ripoff
Champagne fine by me, model x has always looked ugly to me (specifically the rear) so any alternatives in SUV class is a good thing
Yeah I dont mind the looks of this at all. Hopefully the underlying tech is up to par
which isn't bad at all
tell that to Suzuki Vitara...
Looks like a shitty Nissan Rogue.
Earth: Automatically.
In a parallel word: Audiomedically.
"...will be a new design icon with high tech details to express our digital leadership."
"...new design semantics which replaces horsepower with digital power."
WTF kind of marketing bullshit is that?
Yeah, they're the new Faraday.
Also, it looks like a stretched BMW i3.
I like how they specifically call this a concept, yet claim all this stuff will be "first in production" in 2019. So is it a concept, or a production-ready vehicle?
Come on, they probably paid a long penny for those lines of nonsense to some hot shot marketing specialist. Have some respect. ;)
As it seems so sketchy, they most likely don´t know the concept/prod.ready status themselves, which is understandable at this point. If they get to move towards production, things will get clearer.
THIS IS THE CAR I WANT
This will again fail as they try to do way too many things all at once
Oh … so I must own two houses to use the new Alexa Integration to re-schedule my deliveries based on destination. … "What's hip? Let's add it to the concept."-Car ... they forgot a electric toothbrush and something with VR.
I didn’t know this was from Nanjing. 😓 looking forward to it!
What's a Nanjing?
Kai-Zer Inc. Nanjing is a city in China. Its more like a University city as it’s filled up with universities (more like Massachusetts). Right now I’m in Nanjing, this is the reason I’m kinda excited for it.
Crazy, I didn't know Arnold was doing new car announcements now also lol
Byton..the BIG ONE !
Without any doubt two very professional presenters. You know sis must be gut when sere is a proper german accent involved xD. Gut gemacht meine lieben Freunde ;)
whats up with the ligth show in the front if they don't do anything for you at nigth they are not needed
Wow this is incredible fully intergraded connected smart car I can't wait to buy one just so you can throttle my performance and and keep me upgrading every few years
Amazing Car. I look forward for It's availability on the Market. More electric cars and more options for us.
Why the fuck does my car need to know about my vital signs and give me health advice
perfect proportions??? lol
You're loling at the fact that the car has perfect proportions? Thank god you're not in charge of designing cars.
Wtf is that even supposed to mean? Perfect for what?
Distance between wheels can change turn radius and move center of gravity. car length and width can change weight, turn radius, cabin space, ease of parking/fit into space, and probably even more things I can't think of off the top of my head. I'm no engineer, but dimensions/proportions can change a lot.
Rosh P Thank God this is just another car that will die.
Perfect for you not asking too many questions.
I'll expect to see this on the road by 2021 then lol.
Finally, a car with heart rate monitor!
Oh whats that pop up on my steering wheel screen? **pile up**
Awesome car! Would love to drive this car.
Love how Tesla has influenced lots of Manufacturers like Byton.
Range = good.
Looks = good.
Technology = good.
Comfortable seats = good.
I want to see more EV’s everywhere.
I’ll take all your money and go bankrupt! 😂
Love it!
If there's a tablet on the steering wheel, how will the driver side airbag deploy?
The best part is the price. $45K makes it a genuine Model 3/Model Y competitor.
You know most of the concepts are highly advanced for sure that they are essential for future. Not present needs.
What would happen to the screen in the steering wheel if the airbag went off? Would it just launch the screen into the drivers face?
More teqnique details around the chassis pls
But how are taste and smell integrated? Sight, audio and touch have been integrated.
At least they've got a theme, going almost completely digital.
LOL.....The BYTON logo looks like the emoji for a FART. and that’s not far off.........LOL.
How is an airbag going to work with that tablet on the steering wheel?
"rotating front seats so you can be social even in the car" - great, so now i can't even have some peace while driving...
When I saw their logo =8 I died
I loved faraday design but this one is also good are you gonna sell it in Europe?
they say smart, but no AI driving what the hell are they thinking, it doesnt work with putting alexa inside car xD
🧐🤔 does the steering wheel screen say “RIP” when I get into an accident?
45k ain't bad, But let's just see how production goes...
Health diagnosis in the car? Baby steps please...doing too much. Concept and price is great! I hope they succeed and grow competition....
This is the CONSUMERS Electronic Showcase.
amazing... I like it.
Can i get a Google assistant version of this. . .
"Replacing the side mirrors with cameras". What happens when your cameras fail or is damaged by an external source? They are near the wheels. What's the worst that could happen?
This is good!
So just like apple will there be $29 replacement batteries for all electric cars after 2 years or will they cut down horse power for the cars not to shutdown unexpectedly due to battery decay?
seems like giving out a lot of specific details for a "concept car" I mean there hasn't been a concept that looked like production till tesela
I was like, man get to the speed and mileage !
is it just me or does this look like jaguar f pace/e pace?
ImLeron definately from the back it does. Kinda reminds me of Faraday futures SUV as well
it's chinese it looks like everything (the front looks like a landrover fell on a lamborghini)
Why TF would I need a big dumb ass screen on my steering wheel
So your face can (permanently) rest on it in case of an accident.
*So much jargon OMG, and sometimes it doesn't even make sense:*
"...so we believe that this vehicle will be a new design icon with high tech details to express our digital leadership. This is a key priority of [ours]. You have to create new design semantics that replace horse power with digital power. ..." Sometimes it's better to actually communicate with your audience than try to sound intelligent.
In my admittedly biased opinion, it is this ability that sets the likes of Steve Jobs' apart from most presenters. I have a lot to learn. So does the speaker.
-Float Circuit.
Not to mention his announcements of the measurements...as if someone got any clearer on that. As for some bizarre reason, he actually called those the ideal measurements for a car. How is that even possible? Try parking that car in Tokyo or a European city centre. Anything but ideal.
I totally agree.
I watched a TED talk about how to have better conversations yesterday and the speaker stressed, with reason, that the listener doesn't care about the details, times, lengths, names, or any of that. The listener cares about you, so being reasonably vague is generally okay. Watching him recite the car's dimensions in feet was painful, and for no good reason because while people may have a good sense of space, they typically don't have the best sense of numeracy. Instead of offering numbers, he should have maybe compared their vehicle to a similarly sized iconic car, or something like that.
I never thought about what 'ideal' might mean for different countries i.e. the difference between a Japanese and European city center, as you suggested. I'll keep that in mind.
Best,
Float Circuit.
TED Talk: *10 ways to have a better conversation | Celeste Headlee* ruclips.net/video/R1vskiVDwl4/видео.html -- it's really insightful, if you ever have 11 minutes to spare.
It's so typical. So much resources put into the engineered marvel and nothing into a simple oral presentation. At least hiring a decent copy writer would have been a good start. The human connection, not very highly rated these days.
Great point, Morten Tefre. Innovations are like sliced bread; they don't mean anything until people understand what all the fuss is about.
I've noticed that the companies that throw money at their presentations usually invest in visuals, fancy lights and music, demo videos, etc, but can't for the life of them give a simple, powerful talk. An example is Faraday Future. Again, I think back to Apple's early iPhone days, where a brilliant communicator and simple slides were all you needed to prompt people to give you [and by extension, your product or service] a chance.
As before, I'm learning all these effective things from RUclips videos.
Thank you,
Float Circuit.
Dugh? Screen on steering wheel?any driver airbag?
I have a doubt sir... What about the mileage of byton sir??
