It's the little wave the girl makes Woody give Andy. Like, he couldn't move on his own in the moment, but he still got to wave goodbye. I think that's huge for a toy.
It definitely made my date cry! Which was actually really sweet! Though we both agreed that seeing this on a date was NOT a good idea bc it zapped us emotionally! 😢😂 A testament to how that last scene can be taken so many ways depending where you are in life. At the time, it was just that loss of childhood & carefree happiness & knowing it was gone forever that hit so hard. But it was seriously crazy at the time bc this almost became like a public litmus test, “Did you cry while watching Toy Story 3?” And if anyone told you they didn’t they were probably lying, or possibly incapable. Like even the most alpha bros were freely admitting they bawled like babies. It became like a weird badge of honor. Still mad they didn’t win Best Picture & I always will be!!!
Toy Story 3 is the perfect definition on how you end the franchise. The Toy Story that we loved and grew up with ended here, while the fourth and upcoming fifth is for the new generation of kids.
This film is what I call the end of og pixar. We started with Toy Story 1 and 2. Then we got A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL E and Up. Even though we have gotten good pixar films after this, it feels like the magic with the og films changed after Toy story 3.

I swear bro I still can't believe they have a scene of all the toys about to be burned and they all just accept their fate and hold hands in a kids movie. The last scene is great as well but this is the one that really gets me
Honestly!!! I heard people had cried at this movie before seeing it and I didn't know which scene they were referring to. And then when I saw it I know the incinerator scene made me WEEP but at the end I was fine. 😂 Surprised me a little to find out the ending is what got everyone but I can kind of get it.
For real. I was like 3 or 4 years old when I first watched this film and because we had it on VHS, I always watched it. When I was older and saw Toy Story 3 in theaters, im not gonna lie, I teared up a little when the incinerator at the dump happened
The scene where Bonnie says "My cowboy" and Andy pulls back at first... Then ge realizes Bonnie will love his old toys and gives them up. I cry every time haha
My mum always used to cry at the end of this when I was little, because she knew eventually I’d be going to University. We watched it a couple of months ago before I went, cried her eyes out 😭
The fact that I start crying at the reactions/commentaries to this movie, just from seeing the short scenes, proves what an emotionally powerful film it is. The writing was great ✨
I watched the movie while I was visiting the US, at an evening screening. There were many kids with their parents in the room. When that scene happened... I will never forget this. I started chocking but then children all around me started screaming and howling, new ones would start because of the others, the parents were panicking and bringing their kids out of the room. That was VERY traumatizing!
Toy Story 3 is one of the saddest movies I've enjoyed. I love Buzz and Jessie's relationship. Andy leaving to college got me sad. Spanish Buzz was freaking hilarious. The ending was so beautiful 😭😭😭💖💖💖🤣🤣🤣
"Nobody takes my wife's mouth, except me!" Love that adult joke 😂🤣! Though I don't know what it means. I know it's adult because this was in the top list of adult jokes in kids cartoons and movies. But I don't understand the meaning of it.
I don't think it's necessarily "adult." I think he just means he likes to take her mouth away when she starts talking too much. 😂 One of those jokes that pokes fun at marriage dynamics. 🥔
You talked about those movies you watch with family that affect you on rewatches, this is one for me. I saw this with my mom once and she was BAWLING at the ending. I'll always remember the moment when Bonnie waves Woody's hand. It led to another wave of tears with her crying out "Bye Andy...!" with a smile.
I really appreciate how they portrayed Ken here. Barbie is the MVP here. Ken acknowledged that they can't stop the chaotic kids so they have to make do what they got. The fact that everyone actually was on board was heart touching. Bonny looks like moana when she was a kid like her.
I was 15 when my family and I saw this film. I literally grew up with Pixar and Toy Story. I was born in 1995, the same year that the first Toy Story film premiered. I also grew up in a Spanish speaking household. So I would watch my movies in Spanish as well. The Latin Spanish dubs are iconic in their own right, and that applies to almost every Pixar film made so far. With that said, Pixar will always have a near and dear place in my heart. They defined a greatness in my childhood, and now we can pass these stories on to future generations… al infinito y más alla! On another note, this moment is dedicated to Ned Beatty - the voice of Lotso. July 6, 1937 to June 13, 2021.
This is the first film that made me cry in a movie theater, the nostalgia, all those years growing up with the movies, remembering old toys. It’s perfect.

Yes, the blessing of growing old is exactly that, we give the things we love to someone else. The world feels less and less about you, it becomes more about them, your families, the next generations, or the people you trust that would do good or can do better than you. At least that's how I feel.
i just realized Bonnie has a totoro stuffy!!! this movie makes me smile and cry everytime. I babysit kids and have other kids play with toys i still have and I always make a point to spend the time making memories for me and for the kids and in my heart the toys too.
21:00 When I was very little, I had the bunny (still have it stored) that I got around when I was born.. I was restless without my bunny when mom put it in washing machine to clean it. I remember sitting in front of the washing mashing on the floor and crying as I watched my poor bunny being mangled in the machine. 🥲 I was especially upset as I needed it when going to sleep... I couldn't sleep without it. It was never dry enough for the first night after being washed... So at some point she got me a second bunny, that was exactly exactly like mine from the beginning. Too bad for her, I was always able to tell the difference and didn't fall for the switch trick. 😅 😂 Ah the memories. 🤣
"Besides, I know about Buzz's Spanish mode" 😂 When I was little my sisters dolls would move from where she put them all the time. The only time I got to play with them was when she was at school😏🤫😆
Want to feel old? The time difference between the release of Toy Story 1 and 3 is 15 years. The time difference between Toy Story 3 and now is 14, one year short of the time between movies 1 and 3. This franchise is 30 years old next year.
The passing on scene works so well because it's so layered with multiple meanings and emotional threads. Not only do we not want Andy to pass them on as we've grown so fond of them together but we realize what Andy truly felt about them and how much they they taught him in return. Without him knowing Andy's description of the toy's characters is spot on, they really were just like he imagined them to be. Did Andy shape their character with his imagination? Most importantly, we all need these characters and values around us from our friends and family and there is a special two way companionship that a toy provides far beyond recreation and play time. It's a masterpiece of writing, the trilogy is easily among the best trilogies of all time. Tarantino said something similar. This didn't need a 4th and there aren't animated movies of this complexity anymore.
