I bet pedro can still get it past half of the guys in the MLB at this current age, weight and dressed in a suit. I'll give him cleats because it's just not possible in dress shoes - lol.
Pedro is a savant. Brains of Maddux but more dynamic-best pitcher I’ve ever seen and I grew up watching Maddux regularly...I’ve always believed disproportionately long fingers give such an advantage to pitchers. Look at Pedro’s middle finger on the grip. It’s no wonder he couldn’t throw a 4 seam straight because it held the seam so long that there’s always a slight tilt. Amazing how he could manipulate the ball once he established himself. He would destroy baseball today with everyone’s aggressive upswings
The words of a man who truly knew his craft inside and out. There is nothing about pitching that is new to Pedro Martinez: he's seen and done it all. HOF
Pedro is a genius on the mound. Luckily, I’m old enough to remember his prime back in the early 2000’s. He was ALWAYS fun to watch, even when he was struggling...which, to be honest, wasn’t very often.
I’m a life long Yankees fan and would never miss Pedro pitch when he was at his peak. He was at a completely different level, elevating pitching to high art.
He had the two greatest pitching seasons of all time (99 and 2000). "amazing pitcher for his size". Maddux was the same size and won four Cy Youngs in a row, and 18 Gold Gloves.
I wish I could have seen Maddux pitch live (I grew up in the '90s, but only saw him on TV). I think the most famous starting pitcher I've seen is Fernando Valenzuela, at the end of his career with the Cardinals. I did also see Stephen Strasburg once.
Stopped watching baseball in the late 90's , but I remember Pedro striking out quite a few with his changeup. Didn't mention it here, but that was a key pitch that almost always worked because of how he disguised it.
There’s film somewhere of him talking with Ted Williams right after the 99 all-star game. Ted ALWAYS talked hitting and pitching and was quizzing him on what pitches he was throwing to get guys out. Amazing conversation between legends
That's a great point he made about pitchers when they're effectively wild. Hitters are scared, but speaking generally, a pitcher like that isn't going to have a long day.
Can only get lucky so many times and even the pitching disadvantage Pedro on himself was more on the coach it is easily fixed by throwing fake away pitches that the catcher sets up for away but both pitcher and catcher know is coming in, then your really playing baseball.
Mentioned he was so good at getting his location, that it was almost a tell to the batter if the catcher was positioned and anticipating an inside or outside pitch ... Like it actually mattered with how great all of his pitches were lol
Pedro would make an EXCELLENT pitching coach for a young guy coming up or some kid. Another thing is these guys still have great arms even in their 40's up.
Why does the ball seems so fast when he throws, that's really impressive. In all the videos it looks like he puts no effort but somehow the ball seems faster than 90+ MLB pitches
Pedro's fast ball intimidated any batter! On that mount, he brought many scarring moments to his opponents! Nobody knew what his next throw would be. He struckout thousands of batters and made them out of frustration cursed him out on their way to the dugout. A curve? A slider? A changeup or a fast ball? You guess...⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
Brandon Daniels lol i like your comment but disagree with it, i for one am a Yankee fan and a fan of baseball who appreciated his craft. On my list hes top 5 all time. Much respect to him.
Bro I'm from Boston and a huge Sox fan, but when Pedro pitched in the Bronx, those Yankee fans always gave him love...i respected the shit outta them for that
screwball or the 2 seem fastball alway give me a weird feeling at least the first pitches, hate any throw that make me go goalkeeper (soccer) ....flying like a frog
even the pitching disadvantage Pedro put on himself was more on the coach it is easily fixed by throwing fake away pitches that the catcher sets up for away but both pitcher and catcher know is coming in, then your really playing baseball.
I wish Pedro has named one of his kids Delino so the story of how dumb the Dodgers were in trading him would last at least another couple of generations.
I don’t believe he’s right when he says effectively wild guys throw more no-hitters than controlled guys. God is on your side the day a no hitter is thrown there’s skill and a lot of luck involved. What’s his excuse for Kershaw or scherzer both of them are controlled and hit the spot they intend to more often then not.
Pedro knows everything there is to know about baseball . True hall of famer.
+sean J Pedro Is Very Intelligent When It Comes To Baseball Knowledge

@@drizzle452 Not to mention that he was only 5'11" when he was pitching
The words of a man who truly knew his craft inside and out. There is nothing about pitching that is new to Pedro Martinez: he's seen and done it all. HOF
So true. Brilliant baseball mind.
His 2 IP in the 1999 ASG were a thing of unequaled beauty. He shredded those juiced up beasts (as well as the few who played clean).
damomand I could listen to Pedro for hour. I might go to spring training just to talk to the master.
Pun intended?
Pedro's almost incoherent. What a horrible explanation of a simple idea. This is just painful.
Pedro is a genius on the mound. Luckily, I’m old enough to remember his prime back in the early 2000’s. He was ALWAYS fun to watch, even when he was struggling...which, to be honest, wasn’t very often.
I could watch Pedro throw for hours. Even slowly, it’s fascinating.
Pedro should be a pitching coach.
Ha he actually helps out the Red Sox during Spring Training.
he has a camp in Dominican republic
That's a pay cut for Pedro. He can make millions on appearances in a year alone.
Pedro is a pitching coach. He just doesn't know it yet
Hellz to the yaaaaaa
A free lesson from a HOFer. I really hope people appreciate these vids and understand that ppl have paid a lot of money for advice like this...
I’m a life long Yankees fan and would never miss Pedro pitch when he was at his peak. He was at a completely different level, elevating pitching to high art.
Pedro was an amazing pitcher for his size. He made me enjoy baseball again. He should have his own show.
He had the two greatest pitching seasons of all time (99 and 2000). "amazing pitcher for his size". Maddux was the same size and won four Cy Youngs in a row, and 18 Gold Gloves.
His book is awesome, Pedro is a legend. I love how Pedro, Maddux, and Randy Johnson dominated the steroid era.
And Mariano Rivera out of the pen. Johan was amazing, too, before his shoulder gave out on him.
u-said-what? Johan Santana was good but never at the level of Pedro Martinez because Johan Santana's shoulder blew up too soon.
What an awesome thing to say. Baddass
awsome comment, also Pedro and Randy were fucking awsome my fav pitchers and yankee killers. (till Randy joined yankees...)
I wish I could have seen Maddux pitch live (I grew up in the '90s, but only saw him on TV). I think the most famous starting pitcher I've seen is Fernando Valenzuela, at the end of his career with the Cardinals. I did also see Stephen Strasburg once.
Best pitcher I ever saw. Your team was lucky to get 2 runs off him in his prime.
Dude these Pedro vids are amazing. Havnt watched baseball since the early 00s, but man I'll watch this shit all day
Pedro is teaching me more & more. He’s an amazing wealth of knowledge & wisdom about baseball.
I love how Pedro says he has an average hand size, he's known for having very long fingers
+j23471 I can see it in the vid. Those are guitarplaying fingers :)
I think he was saying how to throw the ball if you have his sized fingers
I would guess most great pitchers have large hands. And great guitarists. Can't teach big hands I guess
He said unaverage
@@brandonkennard5154 he said if you have a hand on average to mine
I love these segments
Felipe Alou had to be one of the best coaches for young players.
"Why don't you use your cross seam fastball that will get by anybody if you elevate it enough."
Pedro explains soooo Trucking good. Love the man for the way speaks about the pitching!!!
This is awesome. I feel like Pedro should be charging for all this. Wasn't an accident he was amazing.
+Michael Hatchell I'm pretty sure he's getting payed for this...
+PeePeeMartinez the lesson, not the job of being an analyst, but I'm sure you knew that and take great pride in your profound wit
Actually I wish they'd do this more often and free. So many kids out there could take advantage of this specially kids with no many resources
This inside science is what makes MLB interesting to watch for me...I wish they could make this kind of coverage live for games
Stopped watching baseball in the late 90's , but I remember Pedro striking out quite a few with his changeup. Didn't mention it here, but that was a key pitch that almost always worked because of how he disguised it.
He knew how to switch between his fastball and played great psychological warfare
Bro I can listen to Pedro talking about the art of pitching all day.
He’s sharp, mastered the game
The smartest to ever do it.
Maddux?
There’s film somewhere of him talking with Ted Williams right after the 99 all-star game. Ted ALWAYS talked hitting and pitching and was quizzing him on what pitches he was throwing to get guys out. Amazing conversation between legends
greatest pitcher ever
He's great to listen to.
He was on my Phils for a short period of time but I’m so grateful I got him see him pitch here. Legendary.
The greatest lesson on pitching I have ever seen
never lost more than 10 games. the man was amazing
It’s not just the ulna, the shoulders, the kick, it goes down to mastering your body well enough to “flick” the ball with the tip of the fingers.
Any young player should listen to this man
Mentioned he was so good at getting his location, that it was almost a tell to the batter if the catcher was positioned and anticipating an inside or outside pitch ... Like it actually mattered with how great all of his pitches were lol
Pedro would make an EXCELLENT pitching coach for a young guy coming up or some kid. Another thing is these guys still have great arms even in their 40's up.
Pedro is the best
This guy was almost unhittable. I was always in disbelief when he gives up a hit
I think Pedro might know everything there is to know about pitching.
He should he's one of the all time greats
One of the greatest of all time.
Why does the ball seems so fast when he throws, that's really impressive. In all the videos it looks like he puts no effort but somehow the ball seems faster than 90+ MLB pitches
Short field + cannon
@@donnymcjonny6531 exactly, and you can hear a couple of the pitches hit Harold's glove with a bit of force.
‘execute my idea’ guy literally talks like a chess player just awesome to listen to
Pedro is a fucking national treasure. Nah F that, he's an INTERNATIONAL TREASURE.
What's with the F word? Totally unnecessary in making your point. We get it without using it.
Pedro is a legend!!!
Love thes segments with Pedro
They should do this every single week with a lesson from Pedro.
As a Yankee fan. I can't believe I rutted against this guy! Im sorry Pedro ur the man.
Adventure Hobbies lol
Its ok I'm from Boston and it killed me to root against Jeter. I know what u mean
@Jack park Good news for Yankees fans, Pedro gives Severino advice. Hopefully Sev can stay healthy when baseball comes back.
I've no idea what he's talking about...but I love listening to him. :)

They need to bring Pedro to pitching Ninja someone please get on that

Brandon Daniels as a yankee fan myself, I would say, it is very hard to dislike Pedro Martinez.
Bro I'm from Boston and a huge Sox fan, but when Pedro pitched in the Bronx, those Yankee fans always gave him love...i respected the shit outta them for that
Pedro is a master of masters
this is command and control
*me taking notes at home watching this with absolutely zero chance of ever using it, but i feel like i should know this*
I miss the Boston Yankee Feud era, damn those were some good games and fights
I love this guy my favorite player ever!!!!!!!
Damn, this is some good knowledge.
Pedro is awesome
Great pitcher and ground pounder to Don Zimmer
GOAT
el maestro pedro es duro
The GOAT.
I am a catcher and it is very weird to catch those pitches
what was the hardest pitch to catch?
+Carlos Inda catching a knuckle pitch is the hardest for me. especially when blocking. sometimes you don't know where it's going to bounce
+Brobskie I hate the knuckleball pitch
The Rios Family Circus that's the reason you didn't make it lol. 😂😂😂😂
screwball or the 2 seem fastball alway give me a weird feeling at least the first pitches, hate any throw that make me go goalkeeper (soccer) ....flying like a frog
This is way better then inside the nba more professional
Pedro's fingers are long and super flexible, that's why the movement of the ball whippy.
When i was a kid i just tried to throw it as fast as i could right in the middle. No wonder i never went anywhere.
He speaks English incredibly well.
Themmmm EL SEÑOR PEDRO si que esta pesado...
this is so entertaining
dope lessons
Even warm up I'd be scared to catch Pedro 😅
dropping KNOWLEDGE!!!!!!!!!!!
Pedro giving away advise for free
I throw my two seamer with my long finger on the laces rather than on the just on skin of the ball, I usually have more accuracy
Solace2 if you keep doing that its going to hurt your fingers if you do it every 5 days at least 80 pitches
adalbdl or his finger develops a small callus and he doesn’t whine like a little bitch
Beautiful Wilson A2000 Gloves.
I always used an oversized a2000 OF glove even when pitching or playing short
Wow.. this was only 5 years ago. And today Pedro is ironically shaped like Don Zimmer
Harold Reynolds looked like ha was in pain, crouching down for that long
Dude was NASTY
I can't believe Pedro isn't in franchise
just let them wear workout cloth man, i don't want them to break their suits.
believe it or not....his brother Ramón was a better pitcher before he got hurt.....IMHO
Ramon would be the first to tell you he always thought Pedro was better.
The best
even the pitching disadvantage Pedro put on himself was more on the coach it is easily fixed by throwing fake away pitches that the catcher sets up for away but both pitcher and catcher know is coming in, then your really playing baseball.
Hitting all his spots in a suit
Jason Kendall had his career end because of a pitcher missing his spot.
The 42 dislikes are from Mo.
wow
if you have a hand pretty much average like mine. 10 seconds later bends fingers backwards 90 degrees.
Gave the hitters an advantage because they knew he could hit his spots 😂
Throw me the ffff ball!!! Hahaha
Harold's favorite part of his job, hopping on the fake diamond pretending he's still got it. Ha.
I wish Pedro has named one of his kids Delino so the story of how dumb the Dodgers were in trading him would last at least another couple of generations.
God I wish the Phillies got him sooner
It pisses me off every time I think of the day my Dodgers traded Pedro to the expos for a crappy second baseman called Delino DeShields.
🤦♂️

ever heard of Nolan Ryan?
Swear this dude sounds exactly like Deion Sanders..
No my Pedro. Go back to lawn work. (Every Yankees fan ever)
Pedro just one question for u... who’s ur DADDY!?!?!? Yankees!!!!!! 😈💯‼️
Just one question for you...how was that 3-0 lead??
Who is you father?... David Ortiz, big PAPI.
Pedro has money and time. Why doesn't he pay a speech coach to help him speak English with a crisper accent. It's distracting.
@Bert Blaze Is that right? Show me.
You're a damn fool.
Mark, I don´t think Pedro´s English is your real concern buddy.
