Tiger Manager A.J. Hinch says Tarik's preparation is elite, it shows in this interview! A lot of passion, pride, & most importantly, joy, in elevating the efficiency in all of his pitches! Especially when he was talking about wanting to get his slider up to Kershaw's level

I've been saying that for a few years. Or he could invent a new pitch called the skuball

Is there injury risk associated with being more supination focused vs pronation? I have been trying to develop more pronation when pitching, and what Skubal was saying about the changeup made so much sense. My worry is the increased injury and elbow risk due to additional strain on the elbow.

I don't think there is, no. But most people are oriented to do one or the other better. I'd argue that minimizing both is best for your arm, but gotta do what works. Straight riding fourseam with great efficiency and a hammer curve is probably the best mix for your arm. Basing that on the true horses. Nolan, Verlander, etc.

Change up is so difficult to get a feel for because of what he said about pronation. Pronating in a golf swing or batting swing is so much easier

Any young pitcher should learn the fb and change. Locate and adjust speeds. Then as you get more developed learning a breaking ball

    • @adamstevens1204

Kids are taught fastball breaking ball typically. Good breaking ball is always successful when young. But it takes a toll on your entire arm.
Maddox and Glavine are in the hall.of fame because of their fb/change combo amd locating those pitches

@@adamstevens1204 when thrown properly a curveball has some of the least strain on the arm of any pitch. The only thing that can make it bad is coaches not teaching it correctly
