All due respect to Martin, but in Spider-Man 2, when Peter tells Aunt May the truth, her reaction is completely justified. She didn't blow Peter off. She left the room because her whole perception of what happened to her husband was shifted and yes, Peter is responsible (to a certain point). When they meet again, she completely forgives Peter and is proud of his telling her. Her reaction is very real and insanely relatable, at least to me. Two of the best scenes in Spider-Man 2.
Yes!! I watched the movie last night and that’s literally what I said, I noticed the guy in the background turning around like “wtf?” and I realized that Harry must have just dropped to the floor and hid😂 What a dumb scene
Funny thing about the Piano thing Aunt May in Spider-Man 2 says “I’ve been giving piano lessons again” to a bank teller and Peter reacts “You’re giving piano lessons again?” Which could explain why he’s good at piano as she probably taught him as a kid I rewatched the trilogy recently and I only JUST connected this
Interesting take on that confession scene in Spidey 2. I found that May was processing that her surrogate son played a role in Ben getting killed that night and Peter wanted to get rid of that guilt by being honest with her about why he went elsewhere and that his actions did indirectly get Ben killed. She did forgive him and was proud that he found the strength to be honest with himself and to her, about what he had done. That was when he started to finally recover his powers and become Spider-Man bit by bit in that film. That accumulates into one of the finest climaxes in a Superhero film and damn, does it feel well earned and satisfying to watch.
Exactly, I didn't take her selling his comics as a way to get back at him, that was played as a joke. I think it made sense and was shocking that she doesn't immediately forgive right then, because she was in shock. She does come around, she just needed time process what he told her.
The "editor's cut" deletes the butler scene and puts in a shot where Harry picks up a broken picture of Him, Peter, and MJ and sheds a tear, leaving it more ambiguous and quicker
Sam Raimi said he would always be haunted by the fact he never got to make Spider-Man 4. He hated Spider-Man 3, and tried making up for it with a 4th film, but didn’t like any of the scripts given to him, so the reboot went forward
Come to think of it. They should at least see about making a comic book series or an animated film based in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man universe with it being Spider-Man 4. Similar to what happened with Tim Burton's Batman 3 (Giving it the comic book treatment years latter) and those two Batman 60's direct to DVD animated films. That would be neat. They can even bring back Sam Raimi to direct a film like that with Tobey Maguire and Kiristian Dunst (I do apologize if I didn't properly spell ). Also. Speaking of Batman. Korey and Martin should see about bringing back Retro Reviews (With them bringing in that bald guy with glasses who used to do videos with Sammy). Just so they can talk about Batman Forever and Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm (Since they never covered both films on this channel).
Remember when there was only rumors of this movie and the actor for Sandman I thought was going be Eddie Brooke. He would have beeen a perfect serious Eddie and Venom he is the proper high taller than Peter and bulkier.
This film could've been so good without Sony's excessive meddling behind the scenes. It has so many good elements that sadly ended up underdeveloped and rushed.
The Birth of Bully Maguire lol I rewatched this movie recently and Honestly because of the memes I found laughing a lot more then the anger I felt the first time. Me & my friends just kept crackin up so we got more enjoyment out of it. Tho every time Topher's Venom says "I" in this movie instead of "WE" It makes me cringe cause I've loved Venom and been collecting his comics since i was 4 and that just dont fit right though this Eddie was thinner like the Ultimate Version which Said I but that wasnt an alien suit so i digress that didnt work for me personally. Still had fun rewatchin it with the boys tho
It's a lot easier to rewatch a movie and judge it on its own merits and what you have in your head going into it and giving it a second chance. You might still not like it as much as you wanted to but you can at least appreciate what was going for.
Honestly Spiderman 3 isnt even "Bad" so to speak, its just weaker compared to the others. Everything that is enjoyed about the first 2 is there, its just a bit buried and people arent looking for it. SpiderMan 3's biggest problem honestly is the fact that it was 1 movie, I honestly feel that if it was 2 separate movies it could have balanced venom, and sandman, and harry's story lines. Edit: I do think you guys misunderstood Black Suit peter a bit, with Martin being the closest to getting it. The reason why it feels so corny and hammy is because its meant to. The Symbiote although it made spiderman a bit stronger, it didnt make Peter Parker anything, all it did was just removed his inhibitions which made him think he was cooler, he does what a dork thinks is cool. And its pretty on track from where he was at the start for this movie. At the start of the movie he is already becoming a bit arrogant and not actually hearing others, then when he wears the suit after he kills marco that feeling of not caring seeps in more, and it feels good. He walks up straight and with a tiny bit more confidence and notice women actually checking him out, which then goes to his head even more. He stands up to J.J and doesnt take his BS which gets him the job he worked hard for years to get, Women like Ms.Grant and Gwen who probably had slight attraction and knew him longer than average women also take note of his forwardness. So all that small arrogance at the start snowballs into (what we would call it today) a form of false bravado and being toxic. The hitting on women in the street, being creepy to people, backhanded remarks, thinking he is the hottest thing ever, hurting harry, hurting MJ. We are suppose to cringe from it and feel disgusted because thats what it is, and it all makes sense if you really look at it. Considering Rami didnt want the symbiote in this movie, i think he truly made the best out of a bad situation and expanded peter's character.
People did not understand black suit Peter at all. First he was never "emo", but the opposite. He was more confident and ego driven and less whiny. And like you said, he never meant to look cool. I can't believe people forget that it is a comedy. It was never meant to be taken super serious.
@@lunavioleta001 the director had no idea what he was doing. stop trying to act like it was well executed, it wasnt.thesemovies were NOT comedies at all. lies from nostalgia.
I thought Thomas Haden Church's performance was completely fine. This is the 1st time I've heard anyone actually complain about it. I'm pretty sure Sam Raimi knew exactly wat he was doing with him, taking a relatively generic villain like Sandman and turning him into a much deeper and complex character. He's meant to be a realization to Peter that the world is not just good and evil, good people can do bad things but that doesn't make them necessarily evil, it just makes them human. Hence why Peter says the line "I've done terrible things too..."
40:39 I mean... in Spiderman 2 they do mention Aunt May having done piano lessons before. That might be a stretch but it's plausible that he grew up learning how to play.
To be fair, Eddie also works with the Bugle, so he would likely know about Flint's background through the news. He should know being a freelance photographer.
They explained it in Venom: Let there be carnage. Venom said in the end credit scene in the hotel room in mexico that the symbiote is a hive mind and they all know what the others know in different timelines and universes so when the symbiote left peter and attatched with brock in spiderman 3 he then got all of peters knowledge about flint and all his other enimies. Thats why venom already knew who spiderman was when the popped up on the screen and he licked it.
Christopher Young, who scored Hellraiser, did the score for this movie. Elfman declined having said working with Rami wad not a good experience. Personally, this movie had the best score of the trilogy
Aunt May did forgive Peter in Spider-man 2. He came to talk to her while she was selling not just his things but her's as well. She said they're just things and the people you spend time with mattered. She told him it was water under the bridge.
Fun Fact: The butler is played by the late John Paxton. He was the late Bill Paxton’s father. Both Bill and Willem Defoe were in one of my favorite movies: Streets of Fire 🔥
There comes a point where when the little bastard is teaming up with an insane doctor with 8 mechanical limbs building a miniature sun that could destroy the city it’s time for a talk. They should have had that talk long before SM 3 even started.
When Peter brought up Spiderman when MJ was angry about the critics, instantly thought of when Jake Lloyd brought up Turboman to Arnold on the phone in "Jingle all the way" 😆.
Man I love every movie in this trilogy. True this particular one could have been handled MUCH differently, but its got so many elements. Some scenes are emotional, tense, or downright goofy and I enjoy it all.
It's funny how Blade, X-Men, and Spider-Man were all the start of the comic book movie boom, and all three of them kind of went in the same direction. That is, they had a solid first film, a great second film, and lackluster third film, and now marvel has or is rebooting all of them lol.
@@chrislopez5301 X-Men 3 is kind of like this film, it has some good scenes and ideas it's just not the best handled and waste a lot of good potential.
@@chrislopez5301 Kelsey Grammer as Beast was a plus (especially with how well they did the make up) , I enjoyed some of the action (particularly Magneto moving the bridge), and the cure story line was interesting and wish it had been better handled. There is some good in that film its just that some of the negatives like them botching the Phoenix story line, and killing off a lot of major characters overshadows a lot of that. I would recommend the Nostalgia Critic's review on it, as his opinion on it is similar to mine.
Even with all its shortcomings I still enjoyed this movie more than what most people give it credit for. There’s great moments and bad moments, and of course the memes. After watching it again recently after several years I still stand by my enjoyment of SM3.
I don’t care what anyone say. Spider man 3 hold a very special place in my heart because it’s the first movie that i have ever saw in a theatre. Not kidding btw. I’m 24 years old and still remember that day back in 2007.
I liked Thomas Haden Church's performance. Made him feel more believable as a regular guy who was in a pinch and made a series of bad decisions. Also, Korey's complete 180 kinda makes me think he was jumping on the hate bandwagon back in the day. EDIT: he just admitted he might have been...
As much as character development Sandman was given and his motivation, I honestly felt like he was pretty an after thought after all the chaos at the end, especially when Venom died. Despite his clear hate for Spider-Man for just standing in his way and not letting him help his daughter, he had absolutely no reason to join forces with Venom. You could pretty much cut him out of the film and nothing would change. Venom had the most motivation to go against Peter/Spidey.
@@Gideon13397 well yeah, Sandman was only there cause they needed somebody for symbiote spidey to bloodlust over. There's no denying that they handled his plot line horribly. He basically had zero motivation to fight Peter, especially after the pain he had already caused him. They could've chosen anybody to serve the same purpose. The only thing they fumbled worse was the feud between Peter and Harry.
I’ve always been with Martin on Spider-Man 3, but I don’t agree with his takes on Spider-Man 2. Aunt May’s reaction to Peter’s confession was realistic, and their heart to heart later on is one of the best scenes in the trilogy.
I actually agree with Martin on that. I don’t think her reaction makes sense as I don’t feel Aunt May would be shocked at first. I think she would immediately have the heart to heart later that you’re talking about. I feel like Peter’s culpability is good enough for Peter to blame himself, but I don’t think Aunt May is the type of person that would blame Peter for Ben’s death whatsoever, so that initial shock does ring a bit contrived for me.
@@Ren_Davis0531 But who says she blamed Peter? I don’t think she ever actually came to that conclusion. I think she just found it hard to process, especially because it was something he hid from her.
@@TheRocknRollfreak Whatever you want to call it, I don’t think she would have that reaction. I don’t think that’s something that’s hard to process. I don’t see Aunt May finding out that Peter was only indirectly responsible to be something that’s hard to process. It makes perfect sense why Peter feels guilt over it given the lesson about power and responsibility, but I don’t see most people blaming Peter or finding it hard to process at all. Just felt to me like they had to make it hard for Peter because that was the point of the film.
I will defend this movie despite the flaws, I grew up on this movie and it only got better on rewatches, the themes on adulthood and consequences with these characters are real and shouldn’t be ignored cuz of a few flaws I’ll always choose this a million times over another 1 watch of ASM2 with those same issues but way worse
I agree, watching that scene in the cinemas was awesome I still love that moment it has a tragedy to it like he's changed and there's no way to change what happened like Cronenberg's The Fly.
It’s so confusing when people hate on the dance scene. I remember sitting in the theater and the whole audience was laughing uproariously during that scene- exactly the reaction it was supposed to get. It wasn’t supposed to be an earnest attempt to portray Peter as “tough” or “cool”. It was very deliberately made to be campy, goofy, and cringey in a funny way.
Some things have one effect when viewed as a crowd and/or initially than they do when viewed alone or a second time. Taking a step away from its ridiculousness, it doesn't make much sense (and before someone says "that's what Peter thought cool was:" Peter wasn't a complete social pariah and had been friends with the richest guy in the city since childhood; he knew what cool looked like)
If only Sam Raimi was left alone to make the movie as he saw it, Spider-Man 3 could have been as good as the first 2, but no because Sony and Avi Arad had to ruin it
Arad: “you have to do venom” Raimi: “I really don’t want to” Arad: “YOU HAVE TO!” Raimi: “Okay! Fine! You want your venom?! I’ll fucking give you your fucking venom!” (Goes crazy about making it as bad as possible)
@34:04 I didn't see her as selfish in this scene, just hurt. Remember, she says that those reviews felt like her Dad wrote them. And in the first film when they first talked, she was running out the back door crying as her Dad was yelling and cussing her out. To me she was really in her head atm and feeling insecure about the reviews and needed him to listen and understand her fears/concerns. Not try and fix it, but just listen and be there.
I started re-watching all the live action Spider-Man movies to get ready for no way home. And I have to say even though these movies are goofy, I still miss the early 2000s era. Like I miss the fact that superhero costumes will get destroyed or damaged by the end. Now everyone feels indestructible. I miss the time when you could just watch a movie and it had a beginning middle and end and would just worry about trying to help a sequel instead of 20 million other films
Topher Grace is a better Carnage in this movie than Woody Harrelson was in Venom 2. It's a shame that the studio forced Rami to include Venom because this film would have been amazing but its crazy that the studio just wrapped up all that was already established and went the reboot route because those first two are still home runs that the third one doesn't sour it. There's more of a debate though to be had with the first one, I love it but some people still come down on it for it's campiness and stunt show like fights among other things.
Say what you will about this movie, Raimi’s direction is solid, Tobey is fun, and it’s got more personality than most superhero movies. It’s a decent movie. I’d definitely take it over either Amazing movie, personally.
I rewatched Spider-Man 3 very recently, and it's not as bad as I remember it being. I still have some issues on how Harry Osborn and Venom were treated, but despite that, it was pretty decent.
I rewatch it more often than 2 the one the critics ride for. I've seen 3 like 10 times but the 2nd one I haven't watched front to back in like 10 years
For as over bloated and Hollywood as this movie is, I give this film mad credit for how dour and bittersweet the final scene is. The FINAL SCENE of your superhero trilogy is a sad waltz between two broken people with the hope that maybe things will get better one day.
With me I feel this movie has great action and cinematography, and the first half is actually good (love the sandman transformation), but after the Symbiote/venom comes in, the plot just sinks lower and lower. On a DT scale I give it a high rental to very low matinee (6/10).
@Myles Nah seeing the Venom symbiote literally land near Peter Parker instantly made Spider-Man 3 some ol’ bullshit. That was the laziest example of writing I’ve ever seen.
@@wilcee675 After that subplot about Jameson's astronaut son from the second film, you'd think that they would use him in this to introduce the symbiote.
If you ask me years ago, I would probably agree with Korey and Chris, but now over the years and rewatching it to prepare for No Way Home, I’m with Martin on Spider-Man 3! I definitely think the movie is flawed (some that you mentioned that I agree with) and it’s easily the weakest of the Raimi trilogy, but it’s not one of the worst superhero movies ever or as bad as people say. Like for all the stuff that didn’t work and felt rushed, there’s a lot more good elements to this movie than bad like the Birth of Sandman (Also I disagree with you guys on Thomas Haden Church, I thought he was really good as Sandman), the action sequences, and the heart & charm of the first 2 still there. And I love how this movie handles the themes of forgiveness, ego, and revenge and for the most part doing it well and I like that it ended on a somber note with just Peter and MJ slow dancing instead of Spider-Man swinging, it actually brought the movie to a beautiful close. I even came around on Emo Peter/Bully Maguire, maybe it’s the memes but I went from thinking he was cringey to now finding him hilarious and I got what they were going with him. And I didn’t mind Topher Grace as Eddie Brock, despite what they did to him here, when he’s Venom yeah he’s too over the top, but when he’s Eddie sure he may not be buff like in the comics, he got the personality down and served as like a mirror version of Peter, if he lacked any morals and he had some funny moments to me. Again it does have issues for sure and I wished Sony didn’t interfered with Raimi’s vision and let him do his thing and we would’ve gotten a better movie than the one we got, but as it is the best way to describe Spider-Man 3 is that it’s a mess, but it’s a beautiful and entertaining mess and a decent conclusion to the trilogy (despite the planning for the 4th one). And I rather watch this over both Amazing Spider-Man movies, especially the 2nd one. That movie is a F**K You! to me, this movie is more of a Low Matinee.
While I still think this one is the weaker of the three films. I feel it's aged well. It has too much going on. It didn't need venom to be great. I was excited about venom being in it then incredibly let down. And I still hate Harry's goblin costume. Take out venom and all the other story lines could've worked a lot better.
Same here. Remember enjoying my theatre experience when seeing this on Field Trip. But much like Man Of Steel. SP3 began to fall apart the more times I sat through it and further along I got. I would still say it's not a bad Spider-Man film. Especially when compared to those boring as Donkey feces Andrew Garfield films.
My theater experience with this one was actually fascinating and really sums it up nicely, everyone one in my packed screening was loving and laughing along, by the end of it, there was a good mix of cheers and boos. Split down the middle. Which was where I was for a very long time. Having seen it again, I look at it in a better light and see the stuff that focused on Green Goblin 2.0 & Sandman fleshed out and properly structured to the film's overarching themes of vengeance and forgiveness. Where that gets a bit muddled even today, is the inclusion of Venom and the Black Suit. You can tell the Raimis' had a problem making his inclusion feel just as seamless as the other characters, especially with admitting to not being fond of that character at all. And the tonal shifts & inconsistencies are handled haphazardly in the second half of the film. Still a solid entry for bringing this trilogy to a hopeful, bittersweet ending and you can still feel the director's style/work in this one, contrasting strongly with the sloppy mess that was Amazing Spider-Man 2.
My theater experience I think hurt this movie for me. I was around 17 and I worked at a movie theater so it was an early screening for the staff only. Everyone was older and the reactions to everything were very, very negative. That influenced me for a long time. I see this movie has gained somewhat of a cult following in recent years and I have gone back to watch it. I have grown to apprectate some things about it but I still wouldnt call it a solid entry. Id say at best its mediocre. It still a mess and with trying way too many things. It tried to cram like 6-8 subplots into one movie. A problem the other 2 films did not have. Gwen Stacey's inclusion and rectoning sandman to be uncle ben's killer I felt were unnecessary. Raimi also did not like venom and he shouldn't have been forced to use a character he clearly didnt want to. You're right though there are elements that still feel like a Raimi film. I just wish we would have been able to see Raimi's orginal vision without sony and avi arad's meddling. I will agree though it is much better then the mess that is asm2.
I'm glad Chris brought up the selfish element of MJ's character. I was somehow oblivious for years until I watched the first two films in the summer. While I think Peter and MJ do have some moments that genuinely work, a lot of it is frustrating because of how these characters treat each other, specifically, MJ who on numerous occasions is selfish, petty and plays with people's emotions including Harry, Peter and especially John who she left at the altar on their wedding day. Sure she was in love with Peter but that's still pretty terrible.
Come on martin . Venom has been a personality since lethal protector. The last time venom was super evil was the island fight with spideman. When he thought Peter exploded and he found that skull
One of the things that makes the movie feel lazy is the random nature of how the villains are created. S2 sets up JJ’s astronaut son - why not continue that for the symbiote story? Sandman falling into a random open pit from some random lab who just happens to be conducting a random experiment? And then you never hear from those scientists again? Then it seems like a whole Venom story is fast-forwarded by a newscast that explains away things to get us into the final fight.
Man I remember when this movie came out. The theatre was PACKED, so much so that some people stood while watching it, lol. Honestly, the movie isn't as bad as most people make it out to be. I'll admit it defo could've been better, and there were some things I could've done without, especially the 3rd act where Venom pretty much just came and was immediately yeeted out of the movie. Other than that, I quite enjoyed the movie honestly. (Also, I may be in the minority of people that actually like the 'Bad' Peter's silly-ass dancing scene 😂 It was stupid but fucking hilarious, lol.)
@@hamhockbeans I agree, but tbh I wouldn't have minded Venom appearing in the 3rd act for the fight if they had just ended it in a way that he'd return in the '4th film' and not just kill him off immediately the way they did.
Eddie Brock and Venom in the church is a coincidence to be sure, but it's actually somewhat alluded to earlier in the movie. When Peter exposes him for being a fake he tells Eddie "You want forgiveness? Get religion." And as we see later in the movie, he saw Peter and Gwen go into the nightclub together moments before Peter crosses the line and realizes he need to get rid of the symbiote. So it's believeable that if they both decided to go to a church, it would be the one closest to where they both were that night.
I just watched Spiderman 3 again like a few weeks ago. It just confirmed to me that Tobey is still the GOAT spiderman. Movie isn't even as bad as I remember people saying it was. Does have too many villains though.
Yeah, it had too many villains, but at least it wasn't as bad as Amazing Spider-Man 2 where they had too many supporting characters and Sony was setting them up for their own movies.
Depends. Tobey is the goat IF you don't read comics...if you do on the other hand, you'll realize that they all represent bits and pieces of what this character should be.
I hope there's a bad movie roast on the Amazing Spider-man 2. To me out of all the Spider-man films that came out that was the only BAD Spider-Man film.
I never thought that that Spider-Man 3 was bad. I was the few that NEVER understood why people hated the Parker dance scene so much. I though it was actually funny. Peter is kind of a geek and if developed the confidence to dance but not magically better dance skills (because that’s not how this symbiot works 😂) then yes the dance is going to come out as funny. It’s not like he danced horribly but it’s on the middle of the street and it kinda makes fun of how other movies/shows did this with girls looking like 👀 “oh who dat!?” But in this scene the girls had the opposite reaction and THAT was genius!
The world at the time was wanting more realism and darkness in movies. Part three is like part one. A movie for an earlier time. Had it gone gritty and dark in a dark knight kind of way this movie would have dominated because it would have given the world what it didn’t yet know it wanted. Instead it went back to the simpleness of the first one.
Korey didn’t get this movie and even 14 years later he still doesn’t lol he speaks as if his hate is universal sometimes he looks at this like a grumpy old dude who took it too serious
He stated multiple times throughout that he didn't hate it. But finding the flaws that this film definitely does have isn't hating on it. And just because you like the movie, doesn't mean it's good by the way.
Idc what anyone says Spider-Man 3 is good. Especially when considering that Rami was forced to into creative decisions he didn't want to do. Yeah it doesn't live up to the hype it had and it ain't as good as 1 and 2 but it's enjoyable.
@@Darthpsychonis Hell yeah. 😅 The Venom we have now might be accurate in appearance but he's completely devoid of any character or clear motivation for why he still insist on staying on earth. That explanation he gave in the first film doesn't count because it was that dumb and only existed for the 3rd act. That's not say I didn't enjoy watching it, it was okay and it reminded me of the olden day of edgy 90's/2000's era of superhero films. Still it was awful.
Saw this movie with my best friend opening night when we were nine years old. GOOD GOD were we hyped for this film, but the more it went on, good as it was in some parts, by the end it was like “What the Hell? What kind of climax was that?” Yeah, it was a climatic battle and resolution but it wasn’t until I got a bit older and rewatched it that I realized this should’ve been two movies and they shouldn’t have hyped Venom up as THE MAIN antagonist in every advertisement out out the Yin Yang. Actual Venom felt like such a last minute afterthought and I hated how they shoehorned in then killed one of my favorite comic book villains. So thanks for that Sony.
You know what , I saw this when it came out when was 10, and like the prequels I let others change my mind about them. But now I’m reminded why I liked this movie
Martin’s read of May’s scenes in Spiderman2 are so strange. It’s like the complete opposite of how I process it. Let the woman have some time to herself to process a huge perspective shift. And the next time, all is forgiven.
This movie gets to much hate. Not bad at all, just not as strong. There were great moments from Sandman, the Gwen Stacey rescue, and even the emo Parker got a lot of laughs in my theater and hell it became a meme lol
In regards to the upside down kiss with Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane, I always kept wondering what if they had actually taken the mask all the way off that would have been bad lol.
Spider-Man 3 is better than The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 combined. Though it was a step backwards, I never thought that it was so bad that they had to reboot the whole thing. Oh well.
Kinda hope they got to check out that short film Truth in Journalism, it’s about Eddie Brock being in San Francisco in the 80’s & has this almost Quin Tarantino style to the story. Wish we got that for a Venom movie then the one we got now.

Exactly, I didn't take her selling his comics as a way to get back at him, that was played as a joke. I think it made sense and was shocking that she doesn't immediately forgive right then, because she was in shock. She does come around, she just needed time process what he told her.

Just so they can talk about Batman Forever and Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm (Since they never covered both films on this channel).

I felt this film properly ended the series though.
@@Gundam79 wrong it was all Sony meddling with everything
This film could've been so good without Sony's excessive meddling behind the scenes. It has so many good elements that sadly ended up underdeveloped and rushed.
Same.
Bully Maguire is a comedic Legend
“Stings doesn’t it” lol
"you want forgiveness? get religion" Long live Bully Maguire!
That part where Korey mocks Harry hiding under the table had me laughing out loud 😂😂😂
Seriously though. 😂 Was that Goblin serum that strong to give you instant vanishing abilities? 😅
The double take to see if he was gone 😂😂😂 That got me in stitches 😂😂😂
Agreed.
I dunno seems pretty bad to me.
Dude I get what Raimi was doing with the black suit scene, but just because it’s intended to be cringey doesn’t make it any less bad.
Most people do he provides a lot of peopleemotion, tbh his just being petty
40:39 I mean... in Spiderman 2 they do mention Aunt May having done piano lessons before. That might be a stretch but it's plausible that he grew up learning how to play.
You know, I feel like a lot of people overlook that Aunt May secretly knew he was Spider-Man.
I'd rather keep it that she doesn't know.
Martin's explanation as to why Eddie knows about Flint's daughter is still weird, because Peter never knew Flint had a sick daughter.
To be fair, Eddie also works with the Bugle, so he would likely know about Flint's background through the news. He should know being a freelance photographer.
In a deleted scene, Flint's daughter was like "Hey. I'm Flint's daughter. I'm sick."
Just kidding. Sometimes I just be lying for no reason.
He probably learned about Flint Marko and his connection to Peter via the symbiote and then did his own research.
Bully Maguire dancing is the greatest scene in cinematic history.

Aunt May did forgive Peter in Spider-man 2. He came to talk to her while she was selling not just his things but her's as well. She said they're just things and the people you spend time with mattered. She told him it was water under the bridge.

Whatever you want to call it, I don’t think she would have that reaction.

I only saw it once but that fight i remember that fight scene as being fire. I never see people talk about it.

There's more of a debate though to be had with the first one, I love it but some people still come down on it for it's campiness and stunt show like fights among other things.
From my understanding, raimi only wanted classic villains from the 1960s to appear

With me I feel this movie has great action and cinematography, and the first half is actually good (love the sandman transformation), but after the Symbiote/venom comes in, the plot just sinks lower and lower. On a DT scale I give it a high rental to very low matinee (6/10).

@@wilcee675 Don't blame you. I despise what they did for Venom, even the cartoon takes on Venom are better.
Twisted the actor for Sandman would been pefect for Venom too.
If you can see the goofiness of SM3 then you can't deny the silliness of SM2.
Martin Was Right.

no spiderman 3 worse
Spider-Man 3 is still worse though.
Harry took too many head hits in this movie too 😂😂
While I still think this one is the weaker of the three films. I feel it's aged well. It has too much going on. It didn't need venom to be great. I was excited about venom being in it then incredibly let down. And I still hate Harry's goblin costume. Take out venom and all the other story lines could've worked a lot better.
This film wasn't as amazing as 2, but it was fun. Just the memes alone made this movie worth making.
Saw this in theaters when I was 13. I remember loving it.
I highly recommend the Spider-Man 3 editors cut... It adds a few extra things to it and I think it makes it a better movie
Perfect 👍👍💯💯💯
Actually Danny Elfman didnt do this one, Him and Raimi had a falling out working on Spider-Man 2
I'm glad Chris brought up the selfish element of MJ's character.

Hell yeah.
The only problem is it should have been one villian not two and a half.
@@hamhockbeans I agree, but tbh I wouldn't have minded Venom appearing in the 3rd act for the fight if they had just ended it in a way that he'd return in the '4th film' and not just kill him off immediately the way they did.

@@thehomiedan6378 I remember a few stood for the whole thing; some gave up and left after some time, lol.
That Bar scene in Spider man 3 when he was outshining Mary Jane cracks me up every time.
And that's also how Eddie actually gets the Symbiote in the comics but it plays differently.

I never thought that that Spider-Man 3 was bad. I was the few that NEVER understood why people hated the Parker dance scene so much. I though it was actually funny. "He's a better Venom than what we have now!" Jesus Christ!!! That made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
Don't worry. What he said was only filler. It isn't cannon 😂😂
@@ShaneFullerYT What?
He's actually right though.
@@Gideon13397 Um, no. Hell, fucking no.
Aunt may gave piano lessons as mentioned in SM2...why do I remember that
Chris, you so freak'n right about Mary Jane. Exactly how I felt about her in all these movies.
Agree. If those 2 want to stay together, then they need to get some marriage counseling.
This movie should've kept it simple and focused on the Sandman and Peter unravelling and set venom up for Spiderman 4.
Now we need a Spiderman 2 retro review for Martins commentary lol
This wasn't a bad movie roast? Billy should have been here lol
Spider-man 3 is not really a bad movie. More like an underwhelming experience.
I agree with Martin. I’ve always liked Spider man 3
This is one of the first movies that I could identify as being bad while watching it in the theater.
In regards to the upside down kiss with Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane, I always kept wondering what if they had actually taken the mask all the way off that would have been bad lol.
41:23 Korey in the movie in the background next to MJ 😂😂😂
Spider-Man 3 is better than The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 combined. Though it was a step backwards, I never thought that it was so bad that they had to reboot the whole thing. Oh well.
Kinda hope they got to check out that short film Truth in Journalism, it’s about Eddie Brock being in San Francisco in the 80’s & has this almost Quin Tarantino style to the story. Wish we got that for a Venom movie then the one we got now.
Holy shiiit! 😲 I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that short. It was great and the ending kinda messed me up.
@@Gideon13397 dark, disturbing, and everything Eddie & Venom are meant to be. Shit, imagine what Cletus & Carnage are like in that story setting!. 😱
@@christianperez5561 "imagine what Cletus and Carnage are like in that setting."
They're Maximum Carnage that's what!
I don't care if people hate this movie. I love it. I remember watching it with my little brother at the cinema. It was the most amazing experience.
Peter was dumb to bring up Spider-Man when MJ was in an acting slump, but I do get what he meant there.
