🔗 Sprouting jar lid: amzn.to/3v3vTQJ
all you need:
2 tbsp broccoli sprout seeds
a mason jar
seed sprouting jar lid (we used 25 oz mason jars with 2.75” lid) or small piece of cheese cloth
instructions:
DAY 1
1- Sanitize your mason jar by pouring hot water into it and leaving it for 1-2 minutes, then drain and let cool.
2- Soak the broccoli sprouting seeds in the jar submerged in filtered water, and close the mesh lid for about 5 hours.
3- Drain the water through the mesh lid, submerge it with fresh filtered water, swirl, then drain it (tap the jar upside down to get as much water out as possible). Then roll the jar around to separate the seeds while sticking to the sides of the jar. Leave the jar upside down in a bowl at an angle (this allows any remaining water to drip out).
DAY 2-4
4- Continue this process twice daily; every day, your sprouts will grow a bit more by day 4 they have filled your entire jar.
Transfer to a container lined with a towel and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Once they are sprouting give them some direct sun to get chlorophyll into your diet as well!
it could be that the seed quality is not good, the temperature in your home is too warm, there's water that is sitting still in the jar
My mouth is watering. I love sprouts!
Is there a reason to have the jar left at an angle?
to allow for extra water drainage
Better blend them in water and drink with foods.
Where did you get your sprouts?
Here's the link: amzn.to/3OnlPZM
Can this method be done with any other veggie seeds? If so, which ones? Thanks😉
You can try this method with many seeds including: mung beans, chickpeas, lentils, quinoa
Radish , alfalfa, kale
is safe eat it raw?
Yes! Just follow the steps to prepare safely.
How to prevent it from having molds?
in my experience 3 things help mold: if the sprouts are sitting in too much water, if it's sitting in sunlight or it's too warm, the. quality of the seeds are not good
After day 3-4 I put them in a window sil for some sunlight
They aren't as good as y he srouts grown in the soil. You need all the nutrients from the earth, which you can't get from wayer.
Mine didn’t come out right and they smell real bad
Great short. How can we stop them from further growing if we decide to make a ton & how to store them for continuous use? Can it be frozen or air dried?
I always make a jar at a time and use it within a few days, but I've heard you can freeze.
They freeze but they lose all texture. I use frozen clumps in my morning smoothie.
Do they need sunlight?
it does not need sunlight
I have been doing this for years! its so GOOD!
Yes!
Do you notice a difference when you've stopped/started eating them?
Do they taste bitter? I don't like the lentil ones because they taste bitter.🙁
@@NanyR2016They do. I put them in soups (at the end, off the stove) and they cook very slightly and don't taste bitter anymore. Not sure if it looses too much of the benefits that way, though.
Mine got mould in the jars 😢. The ones in the trays worked though.
are you putting the jar at an angle so the water completely drips out? what kind of seeds are you using? the temperature in your home might be the cause as well.
Once you harvest can you keep regrowing it from the same jar?
yes! you just wash and sanitize the jar for next use
Overly complicated. One time watering should be enoug
How many times a day do you rinse them?
Rinse twice a day.
If its very hot, should they go in the frig? And why do only half of my seeds sprout?
leave in the fridge after sprouting is donee. What do you mean "only half of my seeds sprout"?
Am about to try this, I already ordered all I’ll need from Amazon just awaiting delivery 👍🏻👍🏻
I'd love to hear about it!
How did it come out....I have alfalfa seeds coming....
You are a saint for answering all of these questions.
Nice short. I’ve been using the stainless steel sprouting pans but I’m gonna try the jars next time to see if the sprouts are easier to harvest from jars.
Thank you for your kindness. I'm happy to answer questions.
Where to buy the jar and lid? Please
the jar is a re-purposed 25 oz pasta jar, and the lid is this: amzn.to/3Iu2ged
anyone's got a link to this typr of jar or how to adapt this type of strainer-on-top??!😅
the jar is a 25 oz pasta jar I re-used and the mesh lid is this: amzn.to/3Iu2ged
Mam , where do I get that bottle 😢
the jar is a 25oz pasta jar (Whole Foods 365 brand) that I re-used. And I used this - Sprouting Jar Lid: amzn.to/3Iu2ged
Sandy witches 😂
Can you re sprout from the same seeds or I need to buy new seeds every time?
I'm not sure I understand your question. The seeds sprout so you can't use it again and you need to use new seeds to sprout every time.
I think they are talking about the seeds in the jar that do not sprout. Can you give them another try?
They are very bitter and do not taste "sweet" nor "delicious!" Mix the seeds with alfalfa for the most tolerable flavor. Grow your sprouts because you cannot make them! 🤣😂🤣
Short and sweet
Excellent video broccoli looks delicious
Do you put the jar in the sun?
No, I didn't leave the jar in the sun while sprouting.
So why didn’t you rinse after the soak. Not one instruction video says to drain from the soak and not rinse. I’ve been sprouting since the 1990s. But if you have a good reason it would save water.
Overall, it's always better to rinse each time even after the soak.

1.
2.why do the black lentils sprout and red lentils just seem to wilt and fail every time?
Where can I get such bottles from ?
I re-used a 25oz pasta jar and the link to the sprouting lid and seeds are in the description of the video.
32 OZ wide mouth mason jars with sprouting lids would work very well.
Additionally if you cover the jar, you get faster growth.
If you dont have mesh or anything like that you can also use pantyhose
On day 4 I still can't get all of my seeds to sprout. Any ideas?? Should i mabey put them near some sunlight?
No sunlight is not needed. It might be because of the quality of your seeds.
Where can i find sprout bars?
😮but not to heat or freeze them right? So how to keep them a few days, seems like NOT IN THE FRIDGE, THAT MAKES THEM SPOIL faster...they seem to spoil immediately😮😮😢
Transfer to a container lined with a towel and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
They can be frozen for 3mo.
I am day 6 and still haven’t turned green. 1st time I did it. Ready to go on day 5. This time I’m not sure what’s going on.
It should have turned green by day 4. Your quality of seeds might not be good. Here's the seeds I used: amzn.to/3Zyn0sg
Why did you drown it in dressing
Thanks please what is the size of the jar, I just received the mesh lid it's 38cm or same thing like that, I have alot of empty Jars but none is fixing on the this mesh lid as the jar mouth is small for all of them
I re-used a 25oz pasta jar. Please see full description in description.
Tell me who knows where there are more microelements and sulfarofan in broccoli sprouts or ordinary microgreens in trays. What is the best way to grow? I want to get the most out of broccoli
broccoli sprouts are high in sulforaphane and making broccoli sprouts in a jar is an easy way to grow them
do yours smell like 100% broccoli in the jar on day 4 or does it have a "different" smell?
it doesn't really smell like broccoli, so it's hard to say
I have been wondering..so all whoe sprout they're own use sprouting seed or can one use seeds from a packet
Is the fungisiide on certain seeds an issue
this is the sprouts I use: www.naturejims.com/seeds/?TomatoesWithLemon

Have a blessed great blessed day
I read something from another video that dairy or milk will cancel or nullify the health effects of the broccoli sprouts
❤1.can u explain? 2.Likewise,😊 if in fridge/frozen it also loses its benefits!
@@saragracie5554 im not sure how i read this. I have to look into this.
So can these be in the Sun or indirect sunlight?
indirect sunlight is preferred
Oh I’m trying this
Thank you. 😊
Now i wanna salad lol
How many grams of sprouts was this?
it's 2 tbsp of broccoli sprouting seeds
I've learned it's not this simple. Why are mine getting slim? Also, someone said to wash them first and then you can soak them. Have you heard of this?
I am sorry you are having problems. Once you figure out the problem, it is going to be easy to make broccoli sprouts! The problem could be one of two thing, you are not getting rid of the excess water after washing (make sure to leave the jar at an angel). And use cold water. Cold water cools them down. You don’t want them to heat up in the jar. Warmth leads to slime and bacterial contamination. Use cold water to rinse them. And yes you can wash the seeds at first before soaking.
@@tomatoeswithlemon hey, thanks so much for answering my questions and for the good advice. I did not try the cold water. What do you clean your seeds with? ACV?? If so, can I use acv with the mothers?
@@chrisdriscoll6160 my pleasure! I haven't tried washing them with ACV (I just wash with water). I think using good quality seeds is also important. Here's what I use: amzn.to/43XS3jO
@@tomatoeswithlemon thanks again. I will try that brand.
Do you leave them in the dark?
not necessary in the dark, but on your countertop in a cool place and not in direct sunlight
Do you rinse with cold or warm water?
cold water
@@tomatoeswithlemon thank you so much for your quick reply.
Where you got the lid?
Here’s the link: amzn.to/3SBzu04
Where to buy brocoli seeds?
Broccoli Sprout Seeds: amzn.to/3Zyn0sg
do you leave the jar cracked at an angle or closed?
the lid is mesh so no need to leave the jar cracked open, so close the mesh when you put it at an angle
ok thx!@@tomatoeswithlemon
I made ❤ thank you ❤ I love the taste
My pleasure 😊
Hello, do I need to keep the jar in the sunlight? And if so do I keep it where it can see the sun but the sun cannot see it? Or just full sun?
No, leave the jar in the shade (on your kitchen countertop).
@@tomatoeswithlemon wow thank you for such a quick reply! My sprouts are soaking now! I heard the stuff in it is great for autism! It actually helps inhibit some of the stuff in the brain that causes autistic symptoms! I hope itll help me out!
Sulforaphane that's the stuff. That's what I neeeeeed hahah.
@@mikealalee2889 I am happy to answer questions about the sprouts. Let me know how it turns out!
@@tomatoeswithlemon they are turning out great so far! I'm on day three but I think it may take more than 4 days to reach how yours looked? I may have overfilled the jar lol I actually split it down to 3 jars. Hopefully that helps!
❤1. please explain if it should be kept in light or dark from day1-4? 2.
🤷 but mine are sitting by a window that gets sunset light and they’re growing fast
That looks work intensive
You serious?
