    Thanks for showing how to do all that extra work! If it happens on my EVO, I’ll check the drive sprocket first.

    Thanks for the informative and well done video. I'm going to try this on my 91 FLHTC with the confidence of seeing it done.

    The same thing happened to my 1995 H-D DYNA Convertible Front Belt PULLEY - Fine SPLINES stripped out ... & ... I too had a 34 tooth Pulley to replace the defective 32 tooth item
    but
    since My FINAL DRIVE GEAR had a hair-line CRACK in it = which LEAKED oil - (that was a BOOGER to LOCATE) - I went ahead & pulled the Transmission
    Thanks for the VIDEO - it was very informative & educational :-)
    SUGGESTION = on the repetitive Bolt Removal processes = PAUSE the CAMERA & tell us how MANY Bolts you removed or do a quick FAST FORWARD etc Etc ETC ?

    Yes there is a bolt on the backside your ground is connected to it. You can get to it from under your bike.

    my 88 Evo has a loud whining noise in 1st 2nd 3rd- 4th while under a load but quiet in 5th any ideas what to check maybe main shaft bearings?

  • @chrisawelch
    @chrisawelch 4 года назад +1

    At 42:14... did you just pull the lock plate off and there were no bolts holding it on? If so, I would say that's what the problem was. No two bolts holding that plate in place means the pulley nut could have backed off, causing the pulley to wobble, causing the bearing to go bad or causing splines to wear..

    Thanks for video! But I wonder does that all means I do not need to remove the inner primary case and the front sprocket to remove the transmission gears set and change the shifter pawl spring?

    This exact thing has happened to me. Out riding, everything fine, then griiiiiind and little to no bike movement. Clutch in, it's okay, neutral is okay... In gear? War in the trans.

    Take the proper size socket for the Transmission sprocket nut, cut it in half and weld a piece of pipe between the two halves would have saved you a lot of work.

    Thanks , made alot clear to me. Sometimes the lighting,camera angles are off and I could have done without the music, kinda distracting :-) But not really important. What's the name of your special tool?

    On my harley i was driving down the road, pulled in on the clutch and it lost all tension, i thought the cable broke as it had been perfect, no noise, no problems and it only has 1500 miles, well the new cable came so i replaced the cable only to find that the lever at the bottom where the clutch lever attaches was locked to one side and not returning to the operating condition, i was able to get it unstuck but still there is no tension in the clutch cable, it is adjusted all the way out but still no luck, doesnt look like the lever is broken, any other advice or ideas bro?

    What is the size socket you use for the one with reverse threads?

  • @mcjitsu
    @mcjitsu 6 лет назад

    Only HD uses 11/16ths/ 7/8ths/ 7/32nd/ or a 1 3/16ths sizes ! Although I have to say too, that 7/16ths will do most of it ;-)

    I have always been told to NEVER use an impact on a compensator nut?

    • @manuaneleltti
      @manuaneleltti 5 лет назад +1

      i went to school to learn harleys you are never suppose to use an impact because it can and in sum cases will twist the drive shaft and the same goes for the transmission

    R u turning your nut the right way clutch is reverse. Also I stuffed a big piece of rubber in trans main drive gear to help it not turn. I hope this helps.
