    I love all of Exodus but Dukes era is my fave.
    Especially first exhibit its a fuckin killer.
    I saw Exo with Overkill and all i remember IT was intense brutal live

      Bro, I completely agree! Robs era of exodus imo is their best era. He made them sound borderline death metal. Especially with exhibit b!

  • @Wargasm54
    @Wargasm54 2 года назад +8

    Always loved exodus. Was there from the beginning. But the Dukes era was where they finally became a fucking wrecking ball. Best material in the Dukes era. He brought the brutality that was much needed. I like Souza/ baloff. But they were kinda like a caricature of a metal singer. Dukes just brought the heaviness to match the brutal riffs. Wish he was still there🤘🏻

      @Guitarman973 4 месяца назад

      Agree in general but if you listen to Exodus reunion in late 90's with Baloff you would hear that he sounds good/ It's not a vocals from their debut album, he actually sings there. And sing pretty decent.

    Holt has inspired me to kick up my game in the guitar 🎸 dept. I was stuck in the punk rock/hardcore world of rhythm, so a kick in the ass goes a long way to learn lead.
    Great interview 👍🏻

    Rob, This is good stuff. I love how you conduct the interview as not so much a former member. But with that being said you were a crucial part of Exodus. And all I have to say is Holt Is God!

    I have always wondered if a "non-Stop" version of an album with a side A and side B medley. would be somethinf someone is interested. in maybe put a playlist file in for the three platforms in your download area. so someone just hits play shuts up and just listens.

My friends and I got fucked up and got drunk with the exodus guys afterward and ended up drunk wrestling each other in the parking lot and I almost convinced them to hit the strip club. Loved this interview!! Great guy, Gary! Funny when he says, “For as great as I was when I first picked up the guitar, I just “got it!” He says, “For playing on stage so early, “I should be much better now!” lol
    And, Gary is the FIRST person I’ve heard to explain exactly where Eric Clapton really stands! Clapton is just okay in guitar.
    No one seems to be honest about that, as much as there is to admire about what Clapton has done- guitar? Not really.
    Gary’s right: I was playing in rock bands in Australia when he was called “God,” In London. There was a guitarist in Australia, Vincent Melouney, who could set fire to the fretboard with riffs on lead guitar in 1965! He tamed it when he was later with the Bee Gees in the 1960s when I used to know them in Australia. Far better guitarist.
    In 1964-5 Jeff Beck was already better. Another: The Animals released Baby Please Don’t Go, fabulous guitar riff: It was Jimmy Page playing as a studio musician.
    Eric Clapton can’t play better blues guitar than Prince, Joe Bonamassa, Van Halen, et.al. But, like Gary says, Eric wasn’t the one to claim to be great, and his songs like Tears in Heaven are wonderful. But, I totally agree with his views.
    Gary is definitely gifted on lead!
    You’re really good at these Rob! Keep it up!
    As an actual Air Force veteran from the Vietnam war generation, I’m trying to figure out how wearing a “Generation Kill” T-shirt is going to go over! ☺️

    Love Exodus! Love Gary's Guitar Playing! And I think That Prince is a great musician! But there's no way in hell that he's better than Clapton! Most of his songs covers or not! Clapton just took crappy songs and made them better! But I think most of Princes songs are to pussified!
