Yoo I was the Z4 driver haha. I saw the Corolla coming up on me and gave the point by to it, thinking I would let you pass on the straight. Although, from this angle it looks like I was leaving a gap for you as well (although I think the session was point by required in corners :P). In hindsight I should've just stayed on the outside and given you the point by, so that's totally my bad. Great driving overall, I was very surprised at how fast you and the Corolla were!
The GRC's lines were quite good, imo. You might find the car to be much more stable following those lines. It was a bit of an unlock for me at Sonoma once I followed someone driving those lines.
@@elantran the turn 2 line difference especially is stark; the corolla's line is much wider, has a more stable curvature profile and is more tolerant of mistakes. but I think your line is probably faster if executed correctly
@@__dm__ You are absolutely right on that. From what I've seen at this track, that line grc took is what all rwd & awd guys take the left hander before T2 but I found it a lot easier to take the shallow line in my elantra because with its e-lsd I can go through that corner without understeering and have the car straightened out for T2 and aim right at the apex on the right side. I know it's not the 'correct' racing line for that turn but it seems to work well in my EN.
A friend took his new GR Corolla to the track last weekend and I was hoping to see how it did vs my EN. As soon as he started pushing the diff overheated so no chance for us to really compare. He was getting 20 min max before it happened. I stayed out lapping until low fuel light came on. Glad I have the EN
How many miles do you now have on your Elantra ? Just curious, since it seems to be holding up real well, pushing it hard on the track. Also, I watched a review, I think it was on Savage Geese youtube channel, where he compared a bunch of cars on the track, and the Elantra N, and GR Corolla were in that mix, but the Corolla had to tap out from transmission overheating. I was on the fence a few years ago, wanting to buy a new car, and the GR Corolla was one of my choices, but I opted for the Elantra N. Glad I did now
@elantran With tracking it, how often to you have to change the oil? I'm at 8700 on my 23, and I've changed it 3 times already. 1st one was the break in one I changed at around 1500 miles, than, the other 2 at 3k. I figure easier to keep up with oil changes than risk engine failure, and have to fight with the warranty dept
@@godzilla7391 Yeah, I totally agree with you. I change my oil about every 1000 miles (2 track days). Oil changes are a cheap insurance and since I do my own oil changes, the labor is free. 😁I just did my 7th oil change before this event (13th track day). I know Hyundai is notorious for denying warranty so what I did at 6000 miles is I brought my car in for a free oil change at the dealership and came home and immediately drained and did an oil change with amsoil 0w-40 oil with a new filter. I know some people will think that's stupid but that way I can keep my dealership maintenance history in case of warranty work while running the top quality oil in my car. 😂
@elantran I've done my own oil changes, mainly due to trust issues, and kept all my reciepts. Hopefully they won't give me a hard time if something arises.
I think they are very similar in terms of lap times. I have a feeling EN dct will be slightly quicker than gr corolla. One thing for sure is stock vs stock, EN can complete a full 20 minute session no problem but gr corolla can't because ITCC will overheat.
@@zypherus6876 Well, there's no additional cooling for ITCC for the 2025 model. All Toyota did is they reprogrammed the track mode to vary front and rear ratio depending on the situation instead of locking it in 50:50 but sadly that's really not going to fix the issue.
@@elantran Dang, I’ll probably wait until the 2026 or 2027 model to see if they make any improvements to that before I get one. All depends on how long my focus st lasts tbh lol
GRC has more hp and faster 0-60 times, so it should be faster than the N. If the rear differential overheats then it just becomes a fwd car, like the N already is

His line is much closer to the racing line using more width of the track. I know my lines are not great, but I found the car is quicker around the corner using sharper line. I should track out further on corner exits tho.
Well, there are only 3 tracks within 150 miles from me and the next closest one is 250 miles away (Buttonwillow) which I want to drive on one day but definitely not during summer as it gets way too hot down there. 😂
Man that rolla was moving nice laps
Yup, he was very fast. I wish I could drive my grc like him. 😭

What was the temp in the top left at 250+? How hot was it outside?
Top left is the engine oil temp and below it is the coolant temp. It looks like the car showed 73f outside temp but it more felt close to 80f.
