- Elizabethan composer Thomas Tallis was one of the first composers to set music to English texts after the Reformation. "If ye love me" remains one of the most widely performed Tudor anthems. Recorded in St Augustine, Kilburn by kind permission of the Vicar & Churchwardens.

I am 89 years of age and recently lost my wife after 61 years of marriage. This beautiful music and so wonderfully performed brings my soul nearer to heaven where I know she now is!

Please accept my sincerest commiserations for your loss. Even after 61 years together the passing is all too soon and l feel your sorrow.
This particular piece has a similarly meaningful and profound effect on me as l regularly drop by and play it as l too grieve for my dearly departed mother who always loved such choral music as this. Hoping you too may continue to return, to spend a while and think of your lovely wife. God Bless you.

I have sung this dozens of times. I have heard it sung a hundred times. I don't believe this offering can be improved. It is exquisite.
As, in my mid 80's, I listen to this anthem, I reflect on a phone call, earlier today, that my dear sister has only hours, or at most a day or two left to live. Despite my sorrow, these parting words of our Lord, so beautifully set by Thomas Tallis, and which as a pastor/choirmaster I have sung many times, so sensitively sung by this ensemble, brings comfort and consolation in the anticipation of parting. Deepest thanks.

I’d say they were rather engineered with faith and devotion.
It’s not a cathedral; this is the Anglican church of St Augustine, Kilburn, London.
The combination of choral works and the acoustics of such spaces is surely a High point of medieval society.

I cannot explain the profound effect this song has on me as I listen to it. It is beautiful, it is archaic, it is music, it is art.

@@Sennmut There are about 20,000 Catholics in Iran who follow the Chaldean, Armenian and Latin Rites. Many Iranians are disillusioned with political Islam and there are many interested in and converting to Catholicism.
Don´t get me wrong the whole choir is just a whole new level, but the alto voices in this choir are....not from this earth. fantastic. Like warm honey poured directly into your soul.
