Tallis was the premier English composer of sacred choral music during his time, IMO. The piece heard here above is a testament to his greatness. What he would have thought of how one of his themes was developed by Vaughan-Williams more than some 350 years later would likely not have met with his favor but the times & musical styles were different for both these compositions & with that in mind, for me at least, I cherish both Tallis‘ original & the added dimension that Vaughan Williams added to it. The Tallis Fantasia has been a part of my life for over 50 years & to this day remains the music which means the most to me. I have sung the initial hymn that Tallis created & the above selection is memorable as well. Among scholars these opinions are probably controversial but, for me, the two versions, hearing them in modern times, demonstrate how the variety of musical expression can allow these two masterpieces to reveal immortal imaginative expressions.
One should love God, love Jesus, not for any expectation of reward for the soul. but simply to bend the knee and bow the head in the face of truth. Which is, quite simply, everything.

Who disliked this work of beauty and worship to our lord ???
So blessed 🥲
I just..I don't have the words.Beauty,purity,sweetness...my throat is tight,hearing this
ineffable: causing so much emotion, especially pleasure, that it cannot be described. 🙂
That's it.Exactly.@@heraklesnothercules.

Thank you for the cd's they are amazing. Your music got me through depression and a very low time it my life. Thank you
Beyond sublime.... Truly we are blessed to be given this Divine message
One should love God, love Jesus, not for any expectation of reward for the soul. but simply to bend the knee and bow the head in the face of truth. Which is, quite simply, everything.
Após quatro séculos a obra continua encantando. A arte verdadeira é imortal
This music and singing is like the welcome in HEAVEN
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another comforter,
that he may 'bide with you forever;
E'en the sp'rit of truth.
- John 14:15-17
Glorious singing! What more can be said except the sounds of heaven!
🎉😊🎉 : I could listen to this all day !!! ❤️
Perfection. "Lift up your hearts." You always help God's people to do that. Many thanks.
Holy bliss. If this were the only work Tallis ever composed, he would still truly be the greatest Elizabethan musical genius.
Wonderful. Once again my favourite choir knock it out of the park
So simple and beautiful. This short motet can be sung by any choir in any place. It should be sung in church services and Catholic masses in every parish in Britain and beyond.
La musique sacrée attire les anges, grâce à vous ils viennent nous protéger contre ceux qui veulent nous bâillonner et empêcher les vibrations de monter , continuez, persévérez, le miracle aura bientôt lieu!
The holy music attract angels, they'll come to protect us against thoses wanting get us mute and avoid vobrations go up, go on, persevere, miracle will be soon! Bénédicte from Ardèche France, flutist and harpist
For the weak in our world right now. Saint Michael cast satan out of paradise over and over again. May the Holy Mother crush the head of the serpent before our own eyes in the garden of peace.
Thank you. May God be with you all.
I’m so sad I’m working when y’all (Tenebrae) are having your next concert in Houston. One of the absolute best chamber choirs in the world. Y’all do such underperformed works and so brilliantly, breathing new life into them. I’ll catch yall soon! Hopefully 😅
When the Lord Himself spoke these words, it was far more beautiful than even this, this amazing and masterfully performed anthem.
Glory be to Jesus Christ, our savior, and thanks be to the Father for His mercy and grace.
